New in Paper Even young kids can dazzle their friends with amazing card tricks! It's easy for them to take center-stage now, because these incredibly simple and colorful instructions are just right for 6-to-8 year olds. Youngsters will start by mastering a few simple lessons on holding, spreading, cutting and shuffling the deck, and they'll also see how to hide cards surreptitiously and make them reappear magically. It's all a matter of practicing each move until they can do it automatically, and then kicking it up a notch with some smooth show-biz moves--like making a card float out of a deck, rise to the top, or turn upside down without even touching it.
This fun book of card tricks begins by describing everything a youngster needs to know about a deck of cards, how to hold them like a magician, and how to spread them out. Then the author details, step-by-step, 19 different card tricks with which to amuse one's friends. I actually tried out most of these tricks on my own, with myself as magician and audience, and most of the card tricks worked well as described. One caveat: probably best not to use a brand new pack of slick, slippery cards (which I did). It makes it harder to hold on to them and handle them the way described in the book. Otherwise, a lot of fun for budding magicians
