A Belladonna Arms Novel

Shiloh Smart is alone and looking for a fresh start. Convinced he’s finished with love forever, he signs a lease at the Belladonna Arms, a tacky, run-down apartment building situated high on a hill in downtown San Diego.

Determined to turn his back on romance, Shiloh works hard at carving out a life for himself where love doesn’t stand a chance and staying single is all that matters.

Then his drag queen landlord’s nephew, Ben Moss, moves in. Thanks to a rumor Ben has heard since childhood of a fifty-year-old crime and a fortune in stolen money, he sets out to find the loot supposedly hidden decades ago in his uncle’s apartment building.

The minute Ben spots a kilted Shiloh toddling off to work at the Scottish restaurant up the street where he waits tables, he falls hard and fast for the aloof young redhead. Even a hidden treasure can’t compete in Ben’s eyes with the beautiful waiter with the fiery copper hair.

But even while he diligently works to break down Shiloh’s defenses, Ben doesn’t give up his quest for buried treasure. Soon, as their friendship deepens, the two young men join forces in a search for the stolen cash.

As the treasure hunt gathers steam and all the tenants get involved, Ben and Shiloh come to realize the greatest treasure isn’t buried in the Belladonna Arms at all. It’s buried far deeper—in each other’s hearts!

This is the fourth book in the Belladonna Arms Series by John Inman and it is classic John Inman with snarky, sexual humor - a ginger in a kilt, a sexy newbie to the crew and of course Arthur - Belladonna Arms' signature drag queen. If you have not read this series, you could possibly get away with reading this book alone - however, I would recommend reading the entire series so you can fully understand all the little-hidden gems throughout the story. If you have not ever read a book by Mr. Inman you are in for a treat as you are introduced to witty, snarky, risque humor along with exceptional characters, vivid imagery, and a great story.  You won't be let down as you meet the characters who live in The Belladonna Arms - each one of them unique and all of them connected by love and Arthur!

In this story, we meet Shiloh Smart,
4ea03686d0bd8883614bf6ff8d98acc1
"My Name is Shiloh Smart, and no, you're not seeing things. I am indeed wearing a kilt. I'm twenty-two, stand about five feet seven, weigh in at 145 pounds, have red hair and freckles, and I work as a waiter in a Scottish restaurant",

Shiloh has decided he is  done with love.  Being hurt twice at his young age, Shiloh has decided he is not going to risk his heart again.  So after just being hurt by his boyfriend he is single and in need of a place to stay.  Which brings us to The Belladonna Arms where Shiloh meets Arthur.  Arthur "was adorned in gold lame from the tips of his toes to the crown of his head.  His pointy-toed high heels were gold lame.  His billowing gown was gold lame.  The turban wrapped around his bowling-ball-sized head was gold lame.  Looking at him was the equivalent to staring into the sun at high noon in the middle of the Mohave Desert with your eyelids stapled to your forehead."  To say that Shiloh was a little shocked by Arthur's appearance at first is slightly and understatement - he does, however, appreciate the low rent Arthur provides on his new apartment in The Belladonna Arms.  Shiloh has no idea that the "Love Pollen" Arthur speaks of floating through the Belladonna Arms is a true thing and that everyone who lives at the Arms is destined for love.  Arthur lets Shiloh believe he is slightly off his rocker and figures Shiloh will see for himself, sooner rather than later.

73c43bf9258f7b77c35bad0572d8f392 Ben Moss, Arthur's nephew, moves into The Belladonna Arms directly following Shiloh. In fact, he shares a wall with Shiloh and there is a door that connects their apartments (Don't ask why just remember Arthur owns the building). Right from the get-go, Ben is smitten with Shiloh - he just has to get Shiloh to give him a chance. So with some creative treasure hunting, Ben and Shiloh always seem to be bumping into each other. Will the love pollen strike these two? Well, it's not a secret that yes it does, hence the name of the book. What I won't tell is the how and little fun parts of the getting-to-know-you part of the relationship. But Shiloh is still gunshy and even though Ben falls quickly in love it takes some manuevering and a lot of creativity on Ben's part to get Shiloh on board with operation "be my boyfriend".

"Promise me that someday it'll be you who initiates the kiss. Promise me that someday it'll be you who reaches out for me." After Shiloh promises Ben, Ben does everything but throw himself at Shiloh in order to get that kiss - including a very sweet dinner date. In my eyes, Ben is a sweetie - he has just the right touch of romance, fun and of course sexiness that he is a perfect catch for any guy. If he could only get over his obsession with solving the huge mystery of the buried treasure supposedly connected to  the Belladonna Arms. Shiloh, he is pretty perfect too. A ginger. (sigh) A sweetie. Funny and snarky. Yes, he is just the right amount of firecracker to make any relationship explode. Let me tell you when Inman finally gets these two together, the sexual energy and chemistry between them is hot as ever - and they are both very creative and shameless in bed.

The 4th book in the Belladonna Arms series delivers. It delivers high on snark and sarcasm, plentiful with Arthur and his fabulous get-ups, and even includes a bit of a mystery.

I giggled so much and so often and laughed out so loud that I woke up my snoring husband. He didn't appreciate it, and demanded an explanation. I tried. Oh how I tried, but I was laughing so much trying to read him that passage, I couldn't quite get it out.

Shiloh Smart is looking for a place to live after a failed relationship. He's decided he's done with love, so he's not interested in finding someone new. Also, the snark is strong with him. Shiloh's inner thoughts were oftentimes the catalyst for my giggle-snorts. He works as a waiter in a restaurant where his uniform consists of a kilt and all that comes with it.

Arthur's nephew Ben Moss also moves into the building, right next to Shiloh. Right into the apartment that Barney occupied and from which he romanced Ramon in the last book. You know... the one with the connecting door in the closet.

Ben takes one look at kilt-clad Shiloh and begins his pursuit. He's also looking for a wad of cash that someone who decades ago lived at the Belladonna Arms stole from his employer and hid somewhere, most likely within the building.

This book was so much fun to read! Full of zingy one-liners, full of comedy, full of Arthur being larger than life, and full of love pollen. Because you know, if you move into the Belladonna Arms, you cannot help being pollinated.

Love blooms between Shiloh and Ben, even though Shiloh tries his hardest to resist - resistance is as expected completely futile. Ben is in hot pursuit, and Shiloh eventually surrenders. Romance is in the air. And in the bedroom, hahaha.

I figured out about halfway or so where the money was hidden. I don't think John Inman necessarily intended to keep it a big secret from his readers - I thought it was pretty obvious, considering the hints we'd been given thus far. But if you don't figure it out while reading, don't feel bad. The fun is in the chase, yeah?

Seriously, get this book. Read all of this series. While this book can be read as a standalone, I don't recommend doing so. Reading them all, in order, is best.

I hope the next book will feature Arthur's wedding (can you imagine what that'll look like???), and we need to find out about Lester and Dan, especially about the time they spend in the shed together. For reasons.

Please get right on that, John.

This was fantastic. Highly recommended if you like romantic comedy with much emphasis on the comedy part.

Oh my god, the overblown prose just got too annoying. I really enjoyed the previous books in this series, but this one just missed the mark. The characters weren't really all that likeable, and like I said, the author decided to use a gazillion words when one or two would have worked just fine. It got to be a major chore to finish, which was very disappointing. Hopefully this was just a one-off and his next book will be better.

I'm still loving the whole Belladonna series. Hilarious and very sweet. That love pollen is still working wonders it seems. Shiloh is determine to protect his heart and shy away from any romantic attachments. Thankfully, Ben has other ideas.

You can't go wrong with a Belladonna Arms book. Mr. Inman cracks me up with his collection of smarmy, sexy and totally bent characters. Arthur deserves a star on the drag queen walk of fame. I enjoy the way that the author parades the characters from past books through every new story. It's like one big family reunion. I cannot recommend a stay at the Arms highly enough.

This is the fourth book in The Belladonna Arms series.

Shiloh is a sweet, lonely soul, just moved into a flat at The Belladonna Arms. His waiter job in a Scottish restaurant calls for his uniform to be a kilt with all the trimmings.

Ben is Arthur’s nephew, coming to live at The Belladonna Arms, and looking for a – supposedly – hidden treasure.

They meet at the restaurant, when Shiloh is choking on his meal, and Ben is there to save him.

After some weird behavior, mostly from Ben, a few fights - rather funny – Ben and Shiloh hit it off.

There are men in kilts, sweetly neighbors, a gassy baby, a Jewish mother, a pirate legend, and a very big flamenco dancing Drag Queen named Arthur.

We get to know and as always love two new boys here, and get to meet the loving people that are The Belladonna Arms.

Ohhh and one more thing – after 3 vacations in Scotland, I just love men in kilts – and the Haggis with neeps and tatties (turnips and potatoes)

Hah! I knew it. I just had to wait a little to get there.

Another joke filled, fun loving romp through the craziness that is the Belladonna Arms, this time with Shiloh and Ben.

It’s the cast of characters that make these books. You could not do one without the other. Oh, and the building itself, which vibrates with spooky energy, churning out the love pollen.

I found Shiloh a tad annoying, at least in the beginning. Ben is a dream boat.

Keep em’ coming and I’ll keep reading. You cannot not love the Belladonna Arms.

Note: This book was provided to me by the publisher through Hearts on Fire Reviews in exchange for an impartial review.

This was a very sweet love story. In fact, for a while, I was worried that it was going to be too sweet, too mild, too goody, goody. But, where the power comes into this story is in both the humor and the character development.

Each of the “characters” who live at the Belladonna Arms Hotel bring their own story forward into this one. Those we’ve met in past stories, and another new couple who meet in this one, are unique, in love, and firmly entrenched in their pursuit of happiness. It was a pleasure getting to see each of them again. And Arthur? What can I say about Arthur? If you haven’t already met him, you’re in for a treat. He’s large, gregarious, flamboyant, and dressed in outrageous drag for most of the story. He’s also a tender-hearted sweetie who virtually adopts Shiloh when the young man drags himself in to look for a low rent apartment. Shiloh is a red-headed, kilt-wearing, Jewish boy who’s bitter over his recent breakup with his live-in boyfriend—one that left him literally out in the cold and looking for a place to live. Arthur assures he gets a place to live and so much more: a kitten and a new boyfriend are now in his future.

Within a few days, Shiloh gets a new neighbor—Arthur’s nephew Ben, direct from the cornfields of Indiana. Tall, handsome, sweet, and what Shiloh first perceives as out of his mind, Ben turns out to be the love of his life. Why the crazies? It definitely has something to do with Ben’s exhaustive and exhausting search of the hotel on his hunt for missing bank robbery money, rumored to have been hidden there in the seventies. Every time he turns around, Shiloh spots the man on his hands and knees, searching every nook and cranny. Of course, from Shiloh’s perspective, that isn’t a bad view! Persistent, in more than the search, Ben finally wins Shiloh’s heart.

The entire tale is told tongue-in-cheek with some of the most outrageously humorous comments I’ve encountered in quite some time. The book should come with the warning that readers may have a tendency to laugh out loud, so those who prefer to be quiet in the company of others should wait until they are alone to read this.

What I didn’t care for was how quickly Ben met and immediately fell for Shiloh. There was no angst or drama for either man. And instead of maintaining his negativity, it only took one look at Ben, and Shiloh was ready to give up his vow that romance would never be in his future. It was the lack of angst and drama that made this story fall flat in comparison to the others in this series. And speaking of series, although this could be read alone, most of the other characters are from previous stories, so I would highly recommend they be read first.

On the whole, I think this story would be perfect for someone looking for something light with terrific humor and a sweet romance all rolled into one package.

(Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews. Rated 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.)

If you follow my reviews, you will know that I just reviewed the first three books in this series last Friday in a Flashback Friday Series Review. If you missed that post, click on my older reviews to see them. I really liked those previous stories, but I have to tell you that this current installment is my favorite in the series so far.

We are back at the Belladonna Arms Apartments in San Diego to join the madcap band of characters that Mr. Inman introduced us to in the previous books and to focus on a new couple. Shiloh Smart has been dumped by his boyfriend and is looking for a home. He is Jewish, and had to move all his stuff to his stereotypical Jewish mother’s house when he was dumped. He is quite desperate to find a place, and is happy to find an opening at the Belladonna Arms.

The owner of the building, Arthur, tells him about the love pollen in the air and how everyone seems to end up in a relationship once they move into the building, but Shiloh isn’t having anything to do with that. He is single, hurt, and licking his wounds. No more relationships for him.

But then a big, muscle bound, blond, and hairy young man named Ben from Indiana moves in next door. It is Arthur’s gay nephew come to live somewhere besides the gay intolerant place he grew up. It isn’t long before both young men are smitten with each other, and the story goes on from there.

Before I forget…there is also a treasure hunt going on. A DJ robbed a disco back in the 1970’s when he lived in the building, but was killed days later and the money has never been found. Can the tenants find it? I kept telling the darn characters where the treasure was, but they of course couldn’t hear me…which was very frustrating!

I really liked this book. I highly recommend this installment and its predecessors. They are all feel good, sweet, HEA type books…and the bedroom scenes are realistic from this gay man’s point of view, so I enjoyed them! If you’re looking for a non-angsty read, The Belladonna Arms series will fit the bill.

I fell in love with John Inman's Belladonna Arms Series the second I read the first book. With each passing book I simply fall deeper and deeper.

When we are first introduced to Shiloh he's absolutely the perfect fit for the Belladonna Arms. I knew he'd find what he was so desperately searching for. Why? Because anyone who lives there not only finds their lost something but they also find so much more... Even if they didn't think they needed it to begin with.

Now, if you've followed this series you are well aware of Arthur. He's the landlord and he's also a drag queen with a heart of gold. Well, here we have Ben Moss who happens to be Arthur's nephew. Ben is on a treasure hunt and I'll say that I so much loved this!

I was chuckling when Ben found a huge treasure in the form of a ginger headed, kilt wearing Shiloh! A KILT! A GINGER! I know, I died a little. I'd have chased him down like a dog in heat. *whispers* that's Shiloh on the cover.

Of course Shiloh is guarded but when they work together to find the treasure it heats up. Naturally, all the tenants get in on it because that's really what this series is about. Not just whoever the MC's are but the ensemble and the most important character of them all... The Belladonna Arms herself.

This book, like all the others, is a beautiful, complex, wildly entertaining story. You'll laugh, cry, and cheer everyone on.

If you’re a fan of this series, you know that the Belladonna Arms is full of wacky, unique characters and hijinks! Arthur is the manager/owner and he’s probably the most “unique” of them all, but his nephew gives him a run for his money.

What makes this series so charming is the unapologetic matchmaking, crazy antics, charming characters and the solid romance to be found in the “love pollen”. John Inman is a gifted humor writer and his work is showcased here.

I think, in general, this story was a bit more “silly” than the previous books. Ben is almost a caricature, like his uncle only without the melodrama. Shiloh is meant to be a curmudgeon but he’s just too sweet to pull it off.

I loved catching up with the gang and seeing how everyone is doing these days and of course I loved the very, very HEA our MCs get at the end.

Highly recommended to fans of the series, and while it’s probably an okay read as a standalone, I don’t recommend it as it will lose so much of it’s flavor without the background from the previous books.

This book came out only two days after my birthday, and I could not have received a better present! The two latest additions to the building fit right in yet remained unique characters throughout. The Belladonna Arms is a special place, filled with love and warmth and family, and if such a place truly exists outside of my all-time favorite author's imagination, I would move in a second (and I'm actually more of a dog person ha ha)!

I don't care for the klepto couple--but I don't think we're really supposed to--and I've met more likeable librarians in my recent reads, but this book was perfect perfection! If Goodreads ever changes its ratings system, the 5 goes to a 10!

I really enjoyed reading this latest entry in the Belladonna Arms series by John Inman. It was one of those books you laugh out loud with. Frequently. The situations the MC's & the BA's residents get into are just hilarious.

It's a light, funny, uplifting, feel-good read that puts a smile on your face. Some may need to visit their Dentist after finishing it...it's just that sweet. You'll probably know half-way thru the book, as to how the story ends. But you find yourself reading it anyway, because of those quirky characters contained within.

Angst Factor - a big fat ZERO
Sweet Factor - 10

Ben and Shiloh by John Inman is a romantic comedy, with a dash of mystery thrown in. Shiloh Smart claims he’s done with romance. So he moves into a run-down apartment where he could never bear to bring a potential partner – perhaps as a deterrent? Then the landlord’s nephew Ben Moss moves in. Ben is convinced of two things; he can change Shiloh’s mind about love and there is a treasure hidden in the old apartment building. And he’s out to prove both.

Inman brings a unique voice to m/m romance. His distinctive humor colors every page of Ben and Shiloh. Unfortunately, a lot of it fell flat for me. Despite Shiloh’s verbal and mental insistence that he was done with love, he didn’t put up much of a resistance to his mutual attraction to Ben. Shiloh reminded me of a hungover college student swearing to never drink again. I didn’t even believe that he thought he would keep that promise long. On the other hand, Ben came off as too eccentric for my tastes, though, I’m sure that was the author’s intention. As for the humor, I sometimes felt like Inman was forcing it into places it didn’t belong, like sex scenes. Still, the ending took me by surprise, which I was thankful for.

Ben and Shiloh had a writing style that just didn’t resonate with me. However, I am sure that many readers will feel very differently.

While I loved the previous books in this series, this one was just a little bit over the top for me. I am never a huge fan of insta-love, not even silly insta-love like this story and this was a very silly story. After being unceremoniously dumped by his boyfriend, Shiloh starts the book trying very hard to convince himself that he does not need love. Arthur instantly sees through this facade and tells Shiloh all about the Belladonna Arms and its love pollen; he even has the perfect love for Shiloh picked out. Ben, Arthur's nephew, is an odd combination of bumbling oaf and sweet loving man. He is on a mission to find the hidden treasure of the Belladonna Arms, but still finds time to woo Shiloh.

The hidden treasure story line reconnected us with the other wonderful couples at the Belladonna Arms as it becomes a building wide search, although it was pretty obvious were the treasure was hidden from the very beginning. This was not my favorite of the series, but is was still an enjoyable read.

I truly love a book with good humor and this book had olenty of that and more. This is actually the first book I have read in this series but it was easily to read as a standalone.

Shiloh is one of the main characters in this book. When he moves to the Belladonna Arms he was not looking for anything but a place to live close to his work and a place to lick his wombsfrom his break up with his ex. Instead he got Author a big hearted drag queen that wears his feelings on his sleeves. Author realizes there is something special about Shiloh from the moment they met. He took him under his wing and made him feel at home, even introducing him to the other tenants in the building.

Shiloh did not expect to move in and find a second family but that is exactly what happened. Everyone that lives at the Belladonna Arms is family. When Ben moves in next door to Shiloh, there is an immediate attraction but Shiloh tries to avoid it because of his past heartache.

Ben is on a quest to win Shiloh's heart and find the hidden treasure that is rumored to be in his uncle Author's building. Eventually Ben wears Shiloh down and they start seeing each other. The closer they get the more the hunt for the treasure intensifies and soon all the residents are in on the search.

What Dhiloh and Ben realizes though is that the treasure is not the true win but their love is.

This book was so full of humor and love. It was like a fun adentuture through reading. John Inman is a very talented author. This book could have gone so many different directions but John Inman stayed true to the path of the story and was able to make this story of Ben and Shiloh into something very special.

This was classic John Inman style and exactly what you would expect in a Belladonna Arms book. There was a great balance of new characters and their developing relationship right alongside the characters from previous books. I never got bored with any of it. It was just as humorous and over-the-top as I wanted it to be. The mystery of the money was pretty easy to figure out but I found myself wondering how they were going to find it. I wasn't disappointed :)

I don't even know where to begin. I love John Inman, but this book really didn't live up to expectations. The characters, romance and treasure mystery plot all fell extremely flat. I might even rate this as a 2.5, I'm not sure. Everything was just brushed over. The romance and mystery have no development to it.

It breaks my heart to write this review.

If you have not read any of the previous Belladonna Arms novels by John Inman, then this review will make little sense to you and you should stop immediately and start from the beginning because I feel it is the absolute best series in the Gay Romantic Comedy genre today. Ben and Shiloh, book four in the Belladonna Arms series, brings us back to the sagging, decrepit apartment building that houses some of the most uniquely funny and delightfully quirky people, beginning with its cross-dressing landlord, Arthur. It is my sincere hope that if there is to be another installment in this unquestionably outrageous series it will focus even more fully on Arthur and his boyfriend, Tom. Until then, let me share a little about Ben and Shiloh and the hunt for treasure that sets off some of the best teamwork the apartment building has ever seen.

Shiloh is a nice, red-headed Jewish boy who works at an Irish pub, wears a kilt to work, and has been dumped by a cheating bastard of an ex. The hope for cheap rent and the perfect locale (mere blocks from the restaurant he works at) brings Shiloh searching for a room to let at the Belladonna Arms. Arthur is his usual crazy self, and informs Shiloh that not only does he have a room for him but that he is destined to fall in love once more, for that is the magic about his apartment building. Shiloh has absolutely no intention of falling in anything again—his heart has been hurt once too often and he has sworn off love for good.

After settling in, the first order of business for Shiloh is actually helping his neighbors move to an upper floor apartment—apparently, there is someone who Arthur is expecting to rent next door. Not paying much mind to Arthur’s ramblings, Shiloh dons his kilt and heads to work. After a rather grueling shift, he is sitting, taking advantage of his nightly free meal, when the biggest drink of water this side of the Mississippi walks in to the restaurant. When he spots Shiloh he heads his way, and much to Shiloh’s embarrassment, when the young man asks him if he may join him, Shiloh begins to choke on a bite of food that goes down the wrong pipe. Immediately, the stranger performs the Heimlich and saves Shiloh from choking—and that is how he meets his new next-door neighbor and Arthur’s nephew, Ben. Needless to say the attraction is immediate, but Shiloh is determined to tamp it down—he is not looking for romance and he is determined not to fall.

Ben is a strange one, and when Shiloh hears constant tapping and hammering next door–and finds Ben in the most unusual of places, including under the front porch–he finally demands some answers. Reluctantly, Ben shares the fact that a previous tenant of the Arms had stolen a boatload of money and hidden it somewhere in the building. Shiloh is most skeptical, but that matters little as what really worries him is how attracted he is becoming to Ben and how much he likes the feelings Ben has awakened in his still tender heart. Little is ever kept secret at the Belladonna, so when the entire apartment building is brought into the treasure finding effort, hilarity ensues and caution is throw to the wind—but will it be enough for Shiloh to finally give Ben access to his heart?

With elements like humor, great pacing, Arthur in drag, and perhaps the sweetest potential boyfriend ever to grace the page, it all made for an incredibly pleasant story that I read in one sitting. Golly, this author makes me laugh. His characters are so far from perfect and yet they all are so incredibly down to earth. I love that each installment allows us to revisit all the tenants and get a brief update on their lives. Author John Inman has built a family, beginning with a fairy godfather in Arthur, and has just continued to add to the group with one fascinating person after another. People enter the Belladonna Arms in need and end up staying, living their very own happy ever after, and, quite frankly, that is the magic of this series. No big angst, no major issues, just lovely people finding each other, and those who live by them offering to help, surrounding them with love, welcoming them into the community—this is why this series remains one of my favorites.

3.5 stars. The next in the Belladonna Series: this one is called Shiloh and Ben. Shiloh Smart is the most recent tenant at Belladonna Arms. He is a Scottish looking lad who works in a Scottish restaurant. (It is supposed to be him on the book cover, and he does not describe himself as good looking. He should get his eyes checked.)

It has been a while since John Inman has been this spot-on with his dialogue. The author pulls out his best when he writes for his most familiar characters.

Well, Shiloh has been dumped by his ex, and he takes refuge at Belladonna Arms. He meets the landlord's nephew, Ben, and it is reluctant love at first sight. If you have read the prior Belladonna books, then you will know that there is special "love pollen" in the air at this apartment house that causes couples to match-up and fall in love. It seems as though the love pollen has gotten to Shiloh and Ben.

The story meanders without any real direction for quite a long time, and then the plot, if you want to call it that, really kicks in. Ben is searching for some stolen money that may have been hidden at Belladonna Arms during the height of the DISCO era. Ben searches the entire building, including the party room that has a DISCO ball. There are so many blatant references to that stupid light fixture that the author did everything except hit the reader over the head with the DISCO ball so the treasure could be located.

All of the residents of the Belladonna Arms join forces to search for the $300,000 treasure. And what a surprises! The treasure is in the DISCO ball. Everyone shares that $300,000 and there is a happy ever after ending for the main characters.

This was a pleasant romp through Belladonna Arms with familiar characters, but it was missing the edge that the other books in the series had. So, a little lower review from me -- just 3.5 stars for this one.

I’m not one to read a series past about the third or fourth book. They simple do not hold my interest. But I do have a couple of authors that I will read as many books in the series as they put out because to me the writing is amazing. John Inman being one of the few, and Belladonna Arms is my first and most favorite not just by this author but of all times.

This time we’ve Shiloh, a guy that just was kicked out of his place he shared with his BF by his BF current BF. So with stuff at his mother’s home he finds himself on the doorsteps of The Arms. Desperate and over love he just wants a place to live that isn’t his mothers couch.

What he finds is the drag queen to beat all drag queens. And a welcome to beat all welcomes! Swept away and not sure what happened Shiloh and we readers are swept into the world that is Arthur. And I simple love it! You just never know what you are getting when you open these books. From the moment we meet Shiloh we know we are in for a treat, the dry one line humor is spot on. The glamour and dazzle that is Arthur never seems to amaze me.

And that just the first few chapters!

Then we meet Ben! Ben is this larger than life nephew of Arthur that finds its time to spread his wings, and move to the city. And Arthur wouldn’t be Arthur without meddling just a little!

These two, Ben and Shiloh, have this perfect chemistry they play off each other. The whit and love just rolls of the pages, the patients Ben shows for Shiloh, so heartwarming.

And of course the way we reconnect with all the old gang. The descriptions of not just the hunt but what we find along the way, priceless! Sounds like all those kittens will come in handy!

Can’t wait to see whose next? Maybe the pest control person?

This series has been such a good read. Some of the stories are sad, some are funny, some tragic, but all of them are really good!! This one does not disappoint, Shiloh has been hurt before and has decided he doesn't need love or anyone else in his life. He goes to the Belladonna Arms in search of an apartment of his own and soon finds himself crying all over Arthur. Arthur offers him a place and tells him not to worry that he'll find love at the Arms like everyone else has. Shiloh doesnt believe Arthur, but moves in and soon finds that he's quite happy living there with all the other tenants. Then Ben moves in. He's Arthur's nephew and as soon as he see's Shiloh in his kilt he's a goner. He tries everything he can think of to convince Shiloh that it's ok to fall in love with him. These guys are cute and SO funny. Ben enlists Shiloh's help in looking for the treasure that's supposed to be hidden at the apartments, then eventually the whole building gets involved. I loved this story, it's so fun to see the other tenants and see what they're up to, and Arthur stole the show many times in this book. Really fun book, I loved it.

From that review: Its always a pleasure to take a trip back to the Belladonna Arms, that aging apartment building sitting high on a hill in San Diego that happens to be full of love pollen waiting to fall on the most unusual of couples. In this fourth installation, its Ben and Shiloh who gets the heap helping of pollen and much, much more.

Shiloh Smart, like all the people who end up at Belladonna Arms, has been dumped by his boyfriend. Now homeless, he needs a new place, close to his work (a restaurant that calls for him to wear a kilt) and that's also cheap enough for his budget. He has no intention of ever, EVER, falling in love again. His heart is closed up good. Except that the Belladonna Arms has other ideas and people in store for Shiloh and that would be Ben, the nephew of our endearing drag queen, Arthur..."
