She’s fierce. Gorgeous. Elusive. Even a little dangerous…
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d be paying the likes of Peyton Crow for her time.
I knew I wanted company tonight – that’s why I came to the bar in the first place. I just didn’t expect myself to approach her, the beautiful, mysterious Peyton. The woman who can hypnotize a guy with just a toss of her sleek, dark hair, or a twist of her gorgeous body…
She’ll do just about anything if the price is right – except let a man get truly close to her.
I doubt she’s ever heard a proposition like mine, though. All I want from her is precious information, because I’m sure, considering who her father is, she knows plenty about my secret horses. Horses are the key to saving the Corbin Ranch, I’m sure of it…I just need to know more. I need a business partner.
That means that Peyton herself is the key to saving our ranch, to making my dreams come true…maybe in more ways than one.
Peyton
Corbin is kind, handsome, ambitious…the perfect man…for some other girl.
I’ve gotten to know a lot of men over the years. I guess you could call it my profession. I’ve found that most men are just different shades of the same boring bastard, with few good ones thrown in.
Emmett Corbin, though, is a little more interesting. He first caught my eye back in high school, and he’s grown up to be a fine-looking man. And he has ambition, passion, which is unique in this middle-of-nowhere town.
He’s about as intriguing to me as a guy can get.
But the trick to keeping things professional, to holding myself together, is to keep most everyone at arm’s length.
I’m a loner for a reason…always have been.
Nothing can change that – not Corbin’s business plan, good intentions…radiant smile…nothing.
There are 5 brothers in the Corbin family – no girls and all born within 10 years... popped out as their friends say ready to work the ranch. But then their parents die and the eldest, at 18 is left with the job of bringing up the boys and also keeping the ranch going. Not so easy when the other boys don’t think they want to ranch and have other ideas – perhaps a cop, perhaps a Marine, perhaps a horse breeder and perhaps an entrepreneur. So some leave, but come back for various reasons and this book set tells why and also finds them all a romance. But in between there are trials and tribulations. Some relating to the ranch – cattle smuggling, drought and so on; and some relating to the girls they choose to fall for. Nice steady set of books with enough drama to keep a contemporary romance going.
Book 3 of the Corbin Brothers. Emmett is a good guy that doesn't believe in himself and doubts just about everything about himself....Until Peyton. She gave him the strength to pull from within himself and stand up for what he wanted, both with her and with his brothers. Gotta love them Corbin Cowboys ❤
This is the third book in the Corbin Brother's saga. I almost didn't read this book because of book 2 with characters that were not really likable and even in book 3 Avery is still an ass. The good news is this book has so much depth and the characters are well developed. I was pleasantly surprised to see characters that I could get invested in. In this book. Ms Ray finally incorporates the other brothers and characters that have already been introduced in books one and two which keeps the different arcs going which I enjoy. Emmett is the middle brother and to his way of thinking he is the forgotten one. He has great ideas for the ranch that his brother's ignore and that leads him to seek out advice from the most unlikely places. One of the places is a rival's ranch's daughter . Peyton is a pistol and some of her remarks had me laughing. Even with the comedic relief Peyton is a broken woman that has had to fend for herself all her life being rejected by both of her parents. The two go on a journey of learning to trust and for one maybe healing can finally begin. The book ends with a HFN which seems to be the new thing in books right now. Hopefully like in this book we will hear more about Emmett and Peyton. I glad that the author decided to leave out the extra story she had at the end of both book one and two. It was not needed or wanted. There is a lot of excitement in this book and the sex is hot. The epilogue introduces the next brother Tucker. I'm hoping that his story will be as good as Emmett's. Looking forward to the next book.
The middle brother, the one everyone ignores. I actually felt bad for him, and how his brothers dismissed his dreams and wants. Peyton was another sad story, ignored by her parents, she had to harden her skin and do whatever she needed to in order to survive. In this book Emmet, the middle Corbin, almost royalty in the area has to go to the town whore for help in his business enterprise. They work well together, and the only difficult part is to convince Peyton that their relationship can go from business to personal.
After the previous book, this one is much better, it still has a couple of things that I don't really get, but most of it was good, and we have the same straightforward kind of characters that I liked from Hunter. The main difference was that in Hunter all the brothers tried to help him overcome his problems, and in this book it felt like none of the brothers really took Emmet seriously or cared about him.
