Feeling like he doesn't fit in, Nicky, a Chinese American, joins an all-Chinese basketball team and learns about his teammates, his abilities, and his family.
I learned from reading this book that Nicky was working hard to become a great basketball player. I also learned from reading this book that Nicky was playing in alot of basketball tournaments. It was impressive how Nicky was winning the trophies that he had, and how he was able to go to tournaments. In my opinion, I thought that Nicky, in the story, had a heart of a champion. I also thought that he deserved the trophies that he had won by working hard.
I think this book is only middle rating was because of the reasons I will list afterwards. I did not like how all the grammar was not very challenging or difficult because personally I like challenging words. I also did not like how some of the space of the book was taken up but irrelevant details about basketball drills. I can truly relate though to this book because of how he felt confused without his parents. Also, I like how the book describes how it is about culture and society in the general state. I liked that there was a lot of expressive scenes where he would share his feelings. As you can see that is what I thought of the book.
