As an escalating world crisis makes the threat of nuclear warfare imminent, teenage Meredith and her boyfriend Barry draw closer to each other and to other people important to them during what could be the last weekend of their lives
Lynn Hall was the author of over fifty novels for juvenile and young adult readers, as well as over two dozen novels for younger readers. Her books focus on coming-of-age stories featuring dogs and horses.
While perhaps not as action-packed as one would expect of a novel dealing with the subject of nuclear warfare, 'If Winter Comes' is arguably just as powerful. One of humanity's greatest strengths is the depth of love we feel for another, and what better way to convey that notion than out of the urgency the threat of nuclear devastation provides?
There's just something incredibly important about the way Meredith and Barry connect with the people around them while waiting for the end, and I am very grateful that Lynn Hall shared that journey with the reader.
