Ghost Falls #1

Positively Pippa

Rate this book
From author Sarah Hegger comes an exciting new series set in small-town Utah, where secrets don’t keep for long—and love turns up in the most unexpected places.

For Pippa Turner there’s only one place to go when her life self-destructs on national TV—home to Ghost Falls, and her heavily perfumed, overly dramatic, but supremely loving grandmother, Philomene. If anyone will understand how Pippa’s hit makeover show was sabotaged by her vengeful ex, it’s Phi. But she’s not the only one who’s happy to see her—and Pippa can’t help but wonder if Matt Evans, her gorgeous high-school crush turned Phi’s contractor, is game for a steamy close-up…

Matt owes his whole career to Phi and her constant demands to embellish the gothically ridiculous house he built for her. Getting to see red-headed, red-hot Pippa is a bonus, especially now that she’s no longer the troublesome teenager he remembers. He’s willing to stay behind the scenes while she gives her own life a much-needed makeover, but not forever. As far as he’s concerned, their connection is too electric to ignore. And the chance to build something lasting between them—before she can high-tail it back to Hollywood—is going to the top of his to-do list…

Born British and raised in South Africa, Sarah Hegger suffers from an incurable case of wanderlust. Her match? A hot Canadian engineer, whose marriage proposal she accepted six short weeks after they first met. Together they’ve made homes in seven different cities across three different continents (and back again once or twice). If only it made her multilingual, but the best she can manage is idiosyncratic English, fluent Afrikaans, conversant Russian, pigeon Portuguese, even worse Zulu and enough French to get herself into trouble.

Mimicking her globe trotting adventures, Sarah’s career path began as a gainfully employed actress, drifted into public relations, settled a moment in advertising, and eventually took root in the fertile soil of her first love, writing. She also moonlights as a wife and mother.

She currently lives in Draper, Utah, with her teenage daughters, two Golden Retrievers and aforementioned husband. Part footloose buccaneer, part quixotic observer of life, Sarah’s restless heart is most content when reading or writing books.

Gah! This was a difficult review to write, especially since this is an author I have always, hands down enjoyed from start to finish. But this was one of those reads where my focus was all over the place. I wish I could say I loved it, as there were moments I really did, but there were times I felt completely removed from what I was reading and found myself skimming.

It was hard for me to make a real connection with the main characters. It may have been due to all the side stories going on between each of their the family members and basically no development of their relationship as a couple.

The curse words the characters conjured up were overly prevalent, and in most cases, irrelevant. After what seemed like the 100th "s**t," in the first half of the book, my eyes glazed over.

This book is, however, a rom-com which had me chuckling. There were also many endearing and intimate moments, which gave me hope for a higher rating. I apologize for sounding totally wishy-washy at this point.

Here is a quick synopsis .....

Trying to stay incognito, Pippa boards a plane heading from LA to the small town of Ghost Falls, Utah, back home to her eccentric French grandmother, Phi, whom she adores. You see Pippa St. Amor is now known as "the woman America loves to hate." Her tv show was jerked off the air faster than you could blink, when Pippa went on a tirade calling the guest she was supposed to be making over "fat, ugly and unwanted!" It is You Tube's latest sensation. Ray, her supposed boyfriend, and the man she felt safe with, creatively edited the tape before airing, ensuring Pippa's success would plummet and make his tv ratings skyrocket. Someway, somehow, she has got to get her career back on track!

Hot, sexy, muscular, yet still unattached Matt Evans, does not believe for one minute Pippa willingly uttered those nasty words to the gray haired woman on tv. He has known Pippa since they were kids. He wished he could say he knew the gorgeous redhead intimately. For years now, every time Pippa would come home for a visit, they would do their dance of attraction around each other, but never acted upon it. Due to Pippa's professional setback, it looks like she will be staying for a much longer visit, and Matt is ready to see where their mutual attraction takes them.

Pippa and Matt enjoy an easy, steamy fling while she is in town trying to resurrect her career over twitter, but somehow Matt snuck in under the radar and captured Pippa's heart. She is torn between starring in her own tv show back in LA and the love of a really terrific man.

I would encourage you to read the many four and five star reviews posted, as I am in the minority camp.

When I was in my twenties, I went through a phase where I loved the sweet Harlequin American Romance series and books by Debbie Macomber. But as I got in to my thirties, I abandoned those romances for something a little steamier. I’ve tried to go back to the sweet contemporary a few times, but each time I feel kind of let down by the lack of passion. “Positively Pippa” was the perfect remedy.

Story-
Pippa has just lost her fancy Hollywood television job because of some bad editing on behalf of her jerk ex-boyfriend. No one in Hollywood will stand up for her and tell the truth, so she heads home to Ghost Falls to lick her wounds. When Pippa left Ghost Falls all those years ago, Matt stayed to take care of his family after tragedy struck. Now that Pippa is back, both need to reevaluate where their lives are headed.

My Thoughts-
I know this sounds like a typical “coming-home” romance, but it is really so much more than that. Even though Pippa seems likes exactly the kind of person I would not like, I totally got her and her motivations and found myself rooting for her hard. Matt is amazing, but he too, became more real as the book went on, and I liked him even more once we saw his weaknesses. The secondary characters truly bring this novel to another level; I had a completely clear picture of Ghost Falls and the people we were dealing with. I can’t wait to get to know some of them even better in future books. The other thing I want to mention is the heat… These two have great chemistry and this book has some very nice sexy moments.

Bottom Line-
This book went very fast for me; so much so, that I stayed up late reading one night which almost never happens for me and contemporaries. The characters really drew me in, and I really enjoyed it. I think this would make a great movie; it’s a little steamy for Hallmark, but Lifetime or Passionflix would totally work. I would love to see Philomene on screen. This is the perfect blend of sweet, home-town romance and sexy times. 5 stars!

**10/5 noticed this one is on sale for $0.99 from Kobo, if anyone's interested! I liked it!!

This book is a romance between 30-somethings that reads like a romance between 30 year olds, including their doubts and families…novel of all novelties.

Matt and Pippa. Their families. I mean, here we have established human beings, a little lost for different reasons (one Hollywood-style ejected, one suffocated by his familial obligations in the small town because: life) But they LOVE and CARE for their families. And they have struggles with their families. It’s like they are 30-somethings without a whole lotta drama (well, an emotionally manipulative mother I suppose) and they don’t even try to invent it! Conflict, absolutely. Life-changing decisions, sure. But this book is generally free of the invented drama that plagues romance.

The slight spoiler:

The only issue I had with this book were probably the last 2-3 chapters. It was so full of life and love, it was warm, but then it came time to wrap up all the subplots. Eh, this was less successful than how sucked into the family dynamic I was, how charming the characters were, etc. In fact, it’s a series so I guess I don’t see why it was necessary to rush all the subplots to conclusion in the very end of the book. Ultimately and unfortunately, it was clicking in 5 star territory for me before that. Minor characters were given more prominence than necessary to the central plot in the last few pages, and it was one of the most disappointing declarations of love I’ve read. Credit where it’s due, that was probably quite consistent with Matt’s character.

Good sex scenes, some chuckling from me...it's still a solid 4-star. If you don't want to get caught up in a lot of focus on family-related & career subplot, skip it. For me, it just made these characters more flawed, relatable, and lovable.

Book Review For: Positively Pippa by Sarah Hegger 'Positively Pippa' by Sarah Hegger is book One in the "Ghost Falls" series. This is the story of Pippa Turner and Matt Evans. Pippa left her hometown for L.A right after high school. There she started working on a Hollywood show and also met Ray. All was going great it seemed until her Ray, her boyfriend/producer humiliated her. Pippa up and left town and headed by to her hometown of Ghost Falls. Pippa plans to stay with her Grandmother Philomene 'Phil'. There she is quickly reunited with her long ago crush Matt. Matt is a contractor and has made a friend of her Grandmother. So her Grandmother just so happened to have a water link on the sink the same time Pippa comes through the door. While Pippa thinks about getting her life back together she looks to Matt as a possible diversion. Pippa never acted on her crush for him and now might be the right time for some hot action. Matt and Pippa had a very playful attitude toward each other. Phil the Grandmother was a hoot. Overall this was a nice coming home book with a second chance at love story. What do you do when your famous life takes a humiliating turn? If you’re Pippa Turner you head to the one spot you know you will ease your pain: Home to grandma. It doesn’t hurt that Grandma is a one-time world famous opera singer, known for her quirkiness and love of life. Pippa’s grandma, Phi, is thrilled to have her little girl home. And so is hunky contractor and one-time-lust-crush Matt Evans.

While Pippa tries to figure out what to do with her life, she’s not averse to having a little casual fling with the guy she lusted over in high school. Family tension on both side, secrets long held, and a career mishap that’s playing out all over the Twitterverse come into play to try and keep our hero and heroine apart.

Add in a little robbery mystery, a wedding-that’s-about-to-be ( or not!) and Pippa’s life doesn’t look like it’s going to get back on track any time soon.

I simply devoured this book! I read it in one afternoon because I simply could not put it down. I want Pippa to be my new BFF! She’d everything a romance book heroine should be: gutsy, sexy, feisty, quick witted, smart and loyal. And Matt Evans, well, can we just say “perfect guy” and leave it at that?

This was the first book I’ve read by Ms. Hegger but it sure won’t be the last! 5 well deserved and delightful stars!

description

As a fan of Sarah Hegger's Sir Arthur's Legacy series, this is my first time giving her contemporary romance a shot. I'm not a huge reader of contemporary romance because I have gotten rather picky (it's a side effect of finding gray hair, I promise). But I will be adding Sarah to my trusted authors list for contemporary. Positively Pippa checked all my boxes with mature characters, a likable heroine, a fun flirty hero, a lovable secondary character, minimal angst and drama, and an awesome setting.

At first, I was skeptical about this heroine, Agrippina "Pippa" Turner. As the host of her own makeover television show, I was disinclined to like her as one of those "Hollywood" types. The novel starts off with Pippa suffering a career-ending and ostracizing scandal which sends her slinking back home to Ghost Falls, Utah to hide and nurse her wounds. Luckily, Pippa turned out to be a likable heroine, and a genuinely nice person. She was also fun with a great sense of style, and the most amazing grandmother ever (more on Philomena later). I enjoyed watching Pippa manage the scandal, social media, and a budding romance with her hometown crush.

Matt Evans is the All-American small town guy - a hunky high school football star who experiences tragedy and becomes the bedrock for his whole family. My love for Matt was bordering on hero worship. He took on the reigns of his family at only nineteen years old without a thought for himself or his future happiness. Everyone calls on Matt when they need a problem solved, and he never fails to step up and work things out. I liked that his good guy persona was balanced by him being flirty (and a little dirty). He was a hero that you want to see get what he deserves (in the best way).

The romance between Pippa and Matt unfolded at the perfect pace. They had fun and kept it light-hearted at first, and the feelings deepened as the story progressed. While the book took place over a relatively short time, the characters had the hometown history to avoid it seeming like instalove. Plus, Matt was just so great that you wanted him to hurry up and get his HEA.

Pippa's grandmother, Philomena, was a dynamic diva and really stole the show of this story. A former Opera singer that, at seventy-eight(ish) years old, is still as eccentric as ever. Whether you are looking at her glittery eye shadow and dramatic dress, or her outlandish mansion, Philomena was one of a kind but with a huge heart. I think she added such an entertaining aspect to this story that I almost wanted to read more about her than our main characters. I'm glad Sarah added her as a secondary focus/distraction from main events.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher, Kensington.

5 stars should be no surprise. Seriously. Damn. Sarah Hegger’s books always make me smile so big. Of course they take me on a dramatic rollercoaster of a journey before that happens, but still. I hadn’t realized how much I miss this author’s writing until I was engrossed in Ghost Falls #1 and I absolutely loved the bit of mystery she weaved into this one. Matt & Pippa are such great characters to read. Not only because they just come off completely real and flawed, but because it was a blast to follow their story – and to watch them realize what the hell was happening to them. I found it difficult to “watch” some of the family drama but honestly, isn’t it always? Great skill props to Hegger for knowing how to tell some family crazy. And I. Freaking. LOVED grandma Phi. This kind of character just gives me such a happy heart.

A new series from Sarah Heggar
As an avid reader of Sarah's book I wasn't sure what to expect from this series. Let me say I loved it. It is a fun and witty book that has lot of layers to it.
Pippa is at rock bottom she goes home to her Grandmother's (Phi) to heal. She doesn't expect what she finds there. As time goes on the way she perceived things her whole life really aren't the way she thought. She really has a lot to learn.
This book will keep your interest from beginning to end. You will have many emotions as Pippa is very personable and deals with many things that can occur in any of our lives. She is a strong person and if she looks hard enough she will find the support she needs right in front of her.

Positively Pippa by Sarah Hegger
Ghost Falls #1

Having read Sarah Hegger’s historical romances but never her contemporaries I was interested in finding out what they would be like – and – I found out they are delightful if all are like this one. They have family, drama, ups and downs, great characters, love, romance, decisions to be made and an ultimate HEA for the main characters.

Pippa returns home to Ghost Falls to lick her wounds and figure out her future after the TV show she hosted was sabotaged by her ex-boyfriend. She and her grandmother, Phi, have always been close as peas in a pod and a safe haven is always there for her in Phi’s home. Phi has a bit of matchmaking in mind with Matt the man she tries to set Pippa up with. And, the two fall in with the plan but only on a “casual basis…until it becomes more. Matt has had his life controlled by his family’s needs for seventeen years and is also thinking about his future while Pippa does the same. The question is whether or not the two can find a way to move forward together and just how they can make it all work. Add in some interesting characters, a mysterious thief, family members who may have their stories told soon and you have a great story that I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to reading Matt’s brother Nate’s story next when it comes out. Bet it will be just as good as this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books-Zebra for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Sometimes you take a chance with a new author and it pays off big time, this is one of those times. After reading several dark romances I was in the mood for something a little bit lighter with less drama and angst and more romance and emotion.

Enter Pippa Turner. A woman who left her small town of Ghost Falls, as soon as she turned 18, to make a name for herself in L.A. After enjoying success as the host of a makeover show, things take a turn for the worst when her ex-boyfriend/producer humiliates her and ruins her career. With her tail between her legs, Pippa returns to Ghost Falls, and her eccentric grandmother Philomene, to lick her wounds and decide what to do with her life.

The last thing Pippa expects to find in Ghost Falls is love and happiness but when she does it begins to change her idea of what she wants out of life. With the option to go back to L.A. and continue her career or stay in Ghost Falls and explore these new feelings, Pippa faces a difficult decision.

What I loved about this book was the genuine feeling of emotions between Pippa and her grandmother as well as Pippa and Matt. None of the characters, or their reactions to situations, felt contrived or unnatural. This book was very easy to read and enjoy, I would highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Positively Pippa is a beautifully written contemporary romance, full of rich characters and emotional journeys that kept my eyes glued to the page. I'm big fan of small town romances, and Sarah Hegger managed to breathe new life into the trope by combining it with a big city scandal that sends Pippa running back to her home town of Ghost Falls, and into the arms of her old friend, Matt. But Positively Pippa isn't just a simple romance, it's more of a delicately woven tapestry of small town family life. Anybody who's grown up in a town like this will recognise the characters, and understand the issues both Pippa and Matt face as they try to come to terms with their pasts and their family dynamics.

I fell in love with the town as much as I fell for Matt and Pippa, and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is a fun read, whilst still addressing some pretty serious issues. It is an interesting mix of discordant families and deep devotion. And at the same time is a sexy, satisfying second time around romance.

Pippa a tv star on the wane, thanks to a nasty producer boyfriend's dirty editing of her show, has returned to her home town to hide out. We get to meet all the small town's characters - the biggest of all being her wonderful grandmother, Phi. She most definitely has ideas about what Pippa should concentrate on now, and is shameless in her pursuit of that mission. We get to learn about Phi's career, her problems with her daughter and other grand-daughter, and her love of Pippa. As the layers are peeled away from the reasons behind their behaviours, we get to see how easy it is to build up barriers when really none exists. There are some very unexpected twists.

Matt also has family issues - and he may finally be realising that it is time for a change of approach. Meeting his super hot brothers and sister, we may be getting a clue as to how this series may progress in future installments. The contrast between Matt who stayed and Pippa who left, is significant, but the chemistry between the two of them is destined to make them consider compromise. The solution is most satifying, thank you Ms Hegger.

(I did have one issue of confusion - the blurb says that Matt built Phi's house - and it must have been less than twenty years ago if so, and so how can there be so many memories there, and so many actual problems. )

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you!  The release date is slated for May 30th.

This story is the first in a new series for Hegger.  As I had been previously introduced to her work, I was excited to see what she had in story for us with this new series.

This story sticks pretty much to the formula one is familiar with in this genre, there is not too much to surprise the reader.  In other words you get exactly what you expect from this genre when you pick this book up.  Solid characters, hot men, steamy bedroom scenes, and just enough angst to keep the story moving along.

What I enjoyed the most about this story was some of the eccentric characters that were along for the ride.  From the "Diva" Phi, to the perky Bella, there were a lot of fun characters to get behind.  Then there is the whole Evan's clan.  An entire family of hot men?  Yes please!  Take their mother out of the picture (talk about train wreck) and I could focus in on these brothers all day long.

As the first in a series, I think this has given me enough of a taste to keep an eye out for the future instalments of the Ghost Falls series.  A sneak peak of the next story, featuring Bella and another one of the Evan's brothers) was provided at the completion of this one and it looks like it will be good.   I look forward to it

I was gifted these amazing romance novels from BookEndTours & Sarah Hegger for The Ghost Falls book tour. First off let me say thank you soooo much for these books.

Positively Pippa is the first of the Ghost Falls romance series but you don’t have to read them in order because they focus on different character romances.

Positively Pippa was a very fast paced and adorable read. I found myself constantly drawn to the story and couldn’t put it down.

Pippa Turner left town after high school and moved to LA for something more. She becomes famous with a makeover tv show until her jerk of an ex sabotages it. After she becomes humiliated she comes back home to Ghost Falls.

Pippa stays with her Grandma Phi and while she’s there she runs into Matt Evans an old high school crush. Matt is a construction worker who is always helping Phi with her house so he and Pippa run into each other quite often.

Pippa isn’t looking for anything serious after her last relationship didn’t end so well, but agrees to a nothing serious-no strings-friends with benefits relationship with Matt. Which we all know never stays that way-lol.

Besides all the romance and sexual tension of this book there is a bit of mystery as well as some family drama.

I loved this book so much I have already started book 2 Becoming Bella. Overall I give this book a 3.75/5 Stars and am excited to continue the series. Thank you so much for an amazing read Sarah can’t wait to see what comes next!

Pippa Turner's life is quickly unraveling when a vindictive ex ruins her career publicly on national television. With everything falling to pieces Pippa returns to her childhood home, Ghost Falls, Utah, and her grandmother, Phi. The one place she wasn't sure she ever wanted to return to for more than a quick visit. But happened may make returning to LA and former life impossible.
Matt Evans life was decided for him upon the untimely death of his father when he was a teenager. Instead of going to college on a football scholarship he took over his father's struggling construction company and stepped in to support his mother and siblings. While he never regrets being there for his family, one cannot help but wonder about the what-ifs.
The stars never aligned for Pippa and Matt; but now that she's back in town they are finally able to let the sparks of attraction catch fire. Yet keeping things light and casual becomes more and more difficult as each of them have to face family difficulty and the risk involved with seizing new dreams.
This was an amazing read, one minute I laughing and the next I'm tearing up. Sarah Hegger effortlessly captured the each character's flaws and strengths and personality al dynamics between main and secondary characters. Cannot wait to read the next installment of A Ghost Falls Romance.

This List entry just didn't work for me at all in the end. I began by really disliking Pippa, but eventually came to understand her and kind of like her a bit... I never warmed up to Matt, though. He seemed an extremely two-dimensional character. We're told he's nice all the time, but mostly he seems temperamental. And, of course, he does all these manly things but secretly has a softer inside. But that's about it for personality. I think he was there mostly because he provided a vehicle to explore another type of family drama. Well, and because it wouldn't be much of a romance if Pippa were alone. The person who recommended this one was impressed by the family part of the story -- so maybe your mileage will differ from mine. I found the family stuff mostly a muddle where the threads never quite naturally came together. Eventually, the moral of the story just had to be laid out bluntly and quickly.

Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you figure out what life is really meant to be. Such is the case for Agrippina “Pippa St. Amor” Turner. When her life unfairly implodes on national television she does what any self-respecting woman will do: she goes home. Home is Ghost Falls, Utah, her grandmother Phi, and Matt (though she doesn’t know it at the time). As Pippa tries to get her life back on track, Matt tries to become more than just “St. Matt” who gave up everything when his father died. Funny how they figure out that they can achieve both when they work together.

Witty banter: check

Susan Elizabeth Phillips type storyline: check

The promise of more interconnected storylines: check

Future visits to Ghost Falls: Priceless

Positively Pippa is Positively Perfect!

The chemistry between Pippa and Matt was outstanding and completely drew me in. I loved this book and found I didn’t want to put it down. What can I say about Phi, except that everyone should have a Phi in their life. That character was a freaking trip and had me laughing from the beginning to end. The support characters gave the story depth and set the series up perfectly. I can’t wait for Becoming Bella. All in all, I will be definitely recommending this story to friends and letting them know it is a must read. This is my first book of Sarah's, but most assuredly, it will not be my last.

This is a fantastic read! It's a great small town romance that is filled with quirky characters, a lot of humor, and a great romance between Pippa and Matt. Pippa left Ghost Falls as soon as she could. Now she's back after her life spectacularly implodes on national television. Matt's never forgotten Pippa and now that she's back in Ghost Falls he plans explore the intense attraction between them. Maybe with a little help from Grandma Phi he can convince her Hollywood isn't for her!

I highly recommend this one to everyone.

Pippa had a makeover show on TV but when her ex and another member on the show sabotaged her job, she goes home to stay with her grandmother and runs into Matt. Matt is the gorgeous hunk who works on her grandmother’s house and Pippa has trouble keeping her distance from him while she tries to re-establish her career. I enjoyed this funny, romantic novel.

4.5 stars - This is a great read about two almost high school sweethearts who finally give in and let the sparks fly. Joining the love birds is a wonderful and eccentric grandma; one perfect, although out of touch, mom; another mom who is clingy and possessive; and a band of brothers. Hot brothers, whose stories, one can only hope, are coming soon.

It’s a fun read with heart. You’ll love it.

When Pippa goes home to Ghost Falls to lay low. Her grandmother Phi knows her
so well. Well maybe one other person and that would be Matt Evans.
After a terrible incident happens on her hit TV show that's the place she knows will be most
welcoming.

Matt Evans can't believe Pippa is home. He saw what unfolded on her show. He didn't believe one
bit of it. Knowing her as well as he does. There is something that zings between them, and he can't
ignore it. They can't fight it. He can't let her run away like she did before.

Pippa feels something and always has for Matt. She isn't sure how long she's staying.
But things are clear to her what soon matters most when she's faced with a life altering moment.

See what happens buy the book. Pre-Order now!

Highly recommend this book. Can't wait for the next one.

Oh my goodness! I just found me another author that I love! This book was great! I love me some Matt and Pippa. Oh and don't forget Phi! This book had me smiling so much. There is a lot of drama going on in this book and it really surprised me that I never felt lost or got confused.
You will get wrapped up with everyone's life and you will start to feel like you are actually connected with the characters. I would love to see more of these characters and their stories. I hope that we get to see more into their lives.
Laura, I would love to see how she comes out with her situation
Matt's mom, She is a crazy one that needs to learn to stand on her own 2 feet and let her children have their lives.
Phi, Oh, Phi is something else all together! She is a hoot and I fell in love with her. Everyone needs a grandma like her. Although she had her faults, I loved seeing her trying to make ammends.
Pippa's mom, I liked how she came to her mom and they are working things out.... I would love to see them to continue to grow as a family.
Oh and don't forget Matt's brothers & sister... I hope we get their stories also!

I am really looking forward to reading about the rest of Ghost Falls!

I wasn't too sure about Pippa but I was so wrong and was hooked by the third page. Sarah Hegger is an extraordinary story teller. I felt as if I was sitting with Pippa and Matt while they told me their story. Positively Pippa is not only funny but Sarah was able to reduce me to tears in few points in the book. (I am not a crier by nature) And can I just I wish I had, had a Phi in my life. Phi seems to leap off of the page, I absolutely adore the Diva. And let's not forget the Evans men yum. The Ghost Falls Series is now on my automatic to buy list and I am so looking forward to Bella's and Nate's book coming this Sept.

I absolutely adored Positively Pippa. Sarah has your emotions going and keeps you guessing of who was stealing Phi's treasures (I guessed wrong). Matt is a hottie and we all can use a man like him. The whole book I couldn't put it down while reading. All of Sarah's books are a must read and I recommend any of her books. I can not wait to see what else Sarah imagination comes up with her next book!

When her ex-boyfriend dumps her for a younger woman and then ruins her career by airing a TV clip that does serious damage to her reputation, Pippa Turner returns home to Ghost Falls to avoid the media fallout. However, her stay in Ghost Falls is supposed to be temporary, but with her high-school crush determined to woo her, she's finding it harder and harder to want to leave town. However, when the chance arises to get her career back on track, will Pippa stay for Matt or will her return to TV and working again be too much incentive?

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Hegger, and I've got to say if all her books are this good, than I've been missing out on some fantastic reading. The way this story started was absolutely enthralling and drew me into this story immediately with what Pippa is facing when it comes to the fallout of her ex's betrayal. She's facing a lot of anger from the public, and no matter how much she tries to prove her innocence to the clip, she finds herself getting deeper in trouble. How could her ex be so cruel? Will the truth of what really happened come out?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, as Matt sacrificed his own happiness to take care of his family and Pippa has always felt like she wasn't as loved as her sister when it came to her mom's affection. It's why she's so close to her grandmother, Phi; an eccentric old woman that loves to flirt and discuss the past, which sounded like such fun by everything she experienced and all the treasures she has. Whenever Phi was in the story I was smiling, which was a lot. She brings such joy to everyone's lives and I absolutely loved the nickname Matt and his brothers have for her, as it certainly suits her because of her past profession.

Both the main characters were compelling, not only because of their growing relationship, but because of their past and the challenges they face throughout this story including solving the case of missing treasure. Certainly, both have big decisions to make with Pippa trying to get her career back on track, but first needing to find a way to clear her name and prove her ex did wrong. Will she succeed? Will she find an ally to help her prove her ex was in the wrong? Indeed, she's strong, brave, independent and I loved that she was willing to give Matt a chance, even knowing that their relationship can't go any further than what they have while she's in Ghost Falls. Since she has a career to get back to that she believes can't be pursued in Ghost Falls, even if she wants to stay. While Matt, he can't leave their small town, because he believes his family would fall apart if he wasn't there for them. However, with the proposal Matt's brother offers him, it's finally time Matt did something for himself. Will he finally make some changes in his life?

Overall, Ms. Hegger has penned a delightful read that offered plenty of amusement from Phi and her flirting as well as the banter between the hero and heroine that created plenty of chemistry as they got to know each other again. The way this story ended had me concerned for one of the secondary characters, the identity of the thief and whether it would have an effect on the decisions the main characters made for their futures. Moreover, I liked that Matt was determined to do what's right for him and that he helped Pippa decide what was right for her too. Because these two were so right for each other, so no way should they let anything stand in their way of being together. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, as we discover how far Pippa and Matt have come in their relationship and their careers, which had me smiling. Since both deserved all the happiness in the world. I would highly recommend Positively Pippa by Sarah Hegger, if you enjoy the second chance romance trope, the friends to lovers trope or books by authors Alice Clayton, Kimberly Kincaid or Melanie Harlow.
