On Christmas morning, a young girl finds the gift of friendship under the tree, a chocolate brown teddy bear she names Harold. Inseparable in their adventures, she carries Harold everywhere by his ear, which begins to unravel. An unexpected adventure takes the two on a journey that begins with a bit of a fright and concludes with unanticipated compassion and trust.
This book is for anyone who has or had a stuffed animal they took everywhere! Thank you Sharon for sharing this story with us!
A little girl receives a stuffed chocolate brown bear for Christmas. She decides to name him Harold. From the moment she received him, the two were inseparable, she carried him everywhere by his one ear. They traveled many exciting places together and when the girl ends up in the hospital for stitches, Harold is right by her side.
I enjoyed this book about friendship. Sharon has captured the essence kids feel when having a best friend in a doll or toy. Also, as the girl travels to many places with Harold (Paris, Switzerland, etc) the words and illustrations capture landmarks in those areas. This is a great place to have conversations with your kids about those places.
What a charming children's book "Harold"‹ is. Who wouldn't love this warm tale of a little girl's love for her teddy bear. Including adults? It's universal. My 76-year-old friend said she loved the book. It reminded her of her treasured teddy, which she still has, and which her mother had "re-stuffed" and returned to her. Hoping Sharon Rues writes other children's books!
Harold is an amazing children's book that captivates young minds while simultaneously exploring all of their senses. Young readers leave with the idea of what a wonderful friendship is! Love reading this books to my little ones.
