Right, Flatline (Trauma, #2) By Cassia Brightmore, I struggled a little with this instalment, don't get me wrong I still enjoyed this, but it was no-where near as good as "Lincoln Hospital"
Hence me marking it down in my ratings slightly.
In fact, It wasn't until we got that shocker of a cliffhanger near the end, and I was like
OMG, NO EFFING WAY !!!!
That it Jumped from a three-star up to a three and a half, I was so shocked and so instantly reinvested in this series.
So I'm not going to hash over all the back story as I covered that in my review for book one.

So "Flatline" carries on where "Lincoln Hospital leaves us with Dr Cian O’Reilly and Dr Athena Payne now practically living together and conducting a secret relationship under the noses of there colleagues.
The only ones fully aware of Cians and Athenas out of hours association are best friend Sabine and the murder squad as I have affectionately nicknamed them.
So in this instalment, we get a lot more hospital drama, some more gruesome kills and a few more of those sexy shenanigans from our gruesome twosome.
Theres also another major player introduced to the hospital playground Dr Rafe Mckay and he's a bit of a ladies man, he takes an instant interest in Sabina and Athena much to Cian's displeasure.
And then just when you think not much more is going to happen BAM!!!! a really awful killer twist that I really didn't see coming.
so here's what I struggled with,

So there it is folks, very much swings and roundabouts for me.
I'm invested but with some reservations, I will be reading book three Resuscitation, how could I not with that ending.
So just to close, I enjoyed this and yes I would recommend. Flatline is well written with a dramatic storyline, enjoy.

Needing something to keep my interest, I was scrolling through and came across the second book in Cassia Brightmore's series Trauma. I remember loving the first book when I read it and as soon as I opened this book, I was flooded back with the memories as the end of book #1 we saw Cian falling for Athena, Athena and her friend Sab being kidnapped, and then coming back to the hospital. Cian is a doctor who also kills once a month, he is a vigilante and takes out his frustration on those who have escaped the justice system. He does this as he can't kill those who murdered his wife and so he acts out his vengeance on others with his trusted elite team. At the beginning of this book, we read as Cian brings Athena into his trusted circle and makes her part of his ritual killings but when it looks like a mole is leaking his murders to the local news, all eyes land on Athena and we are left with a cliffhanger ending of Cian making Athena his next victim? This ending had me like NOOOOOOOOOOO !!!! as come on, is it that blinded by rage and revenge that he can't see without blinders that she loves him and would never freaking betray him, especially when she knows what he does, and Hello, if she was going to betray him - she would have gone to the police and not the news reporter. The ending of this book wants me now to hurry up and read Book #3 as we watch Cian's truth unravels in front of him, with or without Athena by his side.

Blown away!!
I really didn't think that it would be possible to top book 1 but not surprisingly, Cassia Brightmore proved me very very wrong. Athena has joined Cian on his vigilante team but someone else is lurking in the shadows waiting to extract their own kind of revenge. Edgy, sexy and suspenseful!!

Oh My God!!!!! She did it again!!!!
I was on the edge of my seat through this whole book!!! The twists and turns, holy cow!!!! No one suspense like Cassia Brightmore!!! And that ending!!!! GRRRRR...... Biting my nails waiting for the next one!!!

Wth just happened?!?! And why do I have to wait for the next one...ahhhhh!!!!! I love this series so much!!
So as you know from the first book, Athena, is an intern at Lincoln hospital who is hooking up/dating kinda the sexy chief of cardio vascular surgery. He, Cian, is also a "vigilante" who chases down criminals and tortures them in his OR until their death. So now on to second book I love were their relationship starts to go but this book does not
have like unicorns and butterflies like you get ready for some happy shit and then BAM crazy awful shit happens. Athena is still and intern except she now has 3 diff guys that like her but she only had eyes for Cian of course.
Cian is still a dark twisted man but now Athena is his counter part.
I love that we find out the bad guys and what's going on in their head. I am still pissed at who they were. AND WTH happened at the end of the book. Damn it Cian!!
Revenge is the name of the game and Cian is out to take lives. He gets what he wants.
Waiting for this next book is like I am strapped to the gurney in OR-B with Reynolds at the head of the bed!!! So horrible, I need it!!
I love this Author's mind set for this book, it's the right mix of sexy, dark, funny and yet suspenseful. She does an excellent job of making the characters a part of your life, like I literally feel like I work with these people at the hospital. Very well written book!!

If you haven't read book 1, Lincoln Hospital then STOP. You need to read that book first before you can think about starting Flatline.
That being said, HOLY EFFING SHITE-BALLS this book blew my mind! I'm a lover of the darker reads, and this one, this series, is quickly becoming one of my favorites. The suspense, the vigilante justice, the mystery and of course the love.
Dr. Cian O'Reilly and Dr. Athena Payne are becoming a power couple in more ways than one. With Athena joining Cian's team, the two save the world around them by taking scum off the street. What they don't know is that there's someone more evil than the criminals they hunt, watching their every move.
There is so much I want to say about Flatline, but won't because I hate spoilers and try to keep my reviews as free of them as possible. So I'll say this. If you like a good mind-bender, combined with combustible, panty-melting sex and heart pounding mystery, you NEED to read this book. (again, you have to read Lincoln Hospital first!)
The end of the book left my DYING and the only thing that will revive me is book 3, which can't come quick enough!

As these two embark in their secret melt the sheets romance and fall in love they dont realize that they are being watched and their doom being set in motion.
This series is addicting with its unique concept and thrilling story line. What kills is the killer cliffhanger we are left with. Did not see that coming. I fear what the next book will bring but anxiously await the next book.

Wow, what did I just read. I am in awe and shock with that ending.. This second installment of the Lincoln Hospital series allowed us readers to know the characters more intimately (ahem). the interns are still competing with each other for the juicier cases. A new sexy doctor is introduced and we get more insight into Cian's hunts and Dane's plans. I had my own inner musical score going through my head as I read it. I could sense the tension and the buildup to horror, but there were sweet moments intertwined with hot sex. Another great book by Cassia. Plan to join the/a support group after you have read it because you will need it.

So many of my questions from the first book were answered in flatline but now I'm left with a whole new load I want answered!!
I love how the characters have developed and can't wait to see where their stories are going to lead next.
There is always a perfect balance of darkness/love/fear and expectation in cassias books, you can't help but get hooked and dragged in to her dark world of fiction, I love it and will continue to devour every new release. Xx

Where do I even start... I was sucked in by this story couldn't pit it down. Cassia did an amazing job with this story.. love everything about it the storyline, the love and the killing it's a dark read and I am loving it. There is a cliffhanger and my god I want to scream because I need to know what happens but I can't wait to find out what happens next...

Flatline begins where Lincoln Hospital ended. Flatline is the second book in the trauma series. The story was told in the third person. The characters were the same as before with one new addition to the hospital known as Rafe who was the head of Trauma.
Flatline had too much Grey's Anatomy hospital drama. I had hoped for more Dexter style killings. The balance was off set a bit. Flatline built four stories simultaneously. The unorthodox story of the vigilante seeking his own kind of justice. An unconventional student/teacher romance between doctor and intern. The fantastic four who murdered every twenty-third day in the OR. The mole who was reporting the information to the press. All four stories were originated in Lincoln Hospital yet elaborated upon in Flatline. I felt it was basically the same story as book one with a tad more killings and more sex between doctors and interns but not much else progressed with Dr. Cian. Dr. Cian began his vigilante ways to seek justice for Hannah and yet no progress was made. I was slightly disappointed with book two.

Dr. Cain was an impatient and unsympathetic heart surgeon. While he was the best surgeon his bedside manner needed working on. That's where Athena helped. Athena was the perfect balance for Dr. Cain. She provided the nurturing and reassuring words needed to soothe the client, patient, and family. Athena had a more humane quality to her character. Athena and Dr. Cian continued spending time together. Dr. Cian began to trust Athena with his information for finding the people he killed.
Cian's character was full of anger and hatred making him an aggressive lover. Cian used sex as a means to release pent up anger,frustration, and hatred. It seemed after a kill Cian demanded sex in a primal and dominant manner.
Flatline is a medical murder thriller involving doctors and interns. It's Dexter meets Grey's Anatomy. Dr. Cian saved and took lives at Lincoln Hospital. Athena who was the compassionate and comforting intern joined forces with Dr. Cian in his murder investigation of seeking justice thus creating a bond.
I felt Athena and Dr. Cian's macabre love was more of an obsession built upon the common interest for killing. I did not feel the connection. The words told a different story in my mind. Not to mention the sexual chemistry between them seemed odd. I felt under different circumstances their sexual appetite might be more conventional.
My mind could not process the two names for each character. Athena known as Dr. Payne and Cian known as Dr. O'Reilly. These first and last names carried on this way for several characters. I needed notes to keep track of each doctor and how they were associated. I'm torn by this romance. I don't trust Cian's words or actions. Maybe I'm being paranoid but I felt Dr. Cian was too unstable.

Wow! Totally blown away with the second instalment to the Trauma Series. A Dark, suspenseful read, that had me hanging on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. So many twists and surprises, that had my head in a total spin. My kindle almost didn't survive lol..

4.5 Dr.O'Rilley is Back Stars!!
After that mind blowing ending in Lincoln Hospital I looked forward to getting my hands on Flatline!! Boy was it worth the wait!! If possible this one was even more gruesome and sexier than the first installment!! Flatline picks up right where Lincoln Hospital left off. Dr.O'Reilly and Athena Payne are back my friends! The stakes are even higher and love is on the line. When problems arise and even more blood is spilled it all becomes overpowering. Everything is at risk of falling apart. Also, I thought I had things figured out but as they say think again.
I like the fact that this installment had a lot surprises as well and I enjoyed how action packed it was. As I said in my review for the first book this series it's definitely not for the faint of heart but it sure will make your heart beat faster from fear. Flatline takes things to a new level and I am trying to recover from that cliffhanger. I am currently shaking and in shock while writing this review because of that ending! Ms.Brightmore is an evil genius! I can't wait for the next one! Ms.Brightmore has a way of terrifying me with her writing and she kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages to find out what would happen to the characters next.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read the first in the series and if you haven't already read the first one do that today because you are so missing out! I'm left with a total book hangover and I NEED the next book! This story won't just mess with your heart it will mess with your mind too. Be prepared to second guess yourself tons of times throughout and maybe don't read of night because you'll be up for hours thinking of it with no promise of sleep.

Also, I thought I had things figured out but as they say think again.
I like the fact that this installment had a lot surprises as well and I enjoyed how action packed it was. As I said in my review for the first book this series it's definitely not for the faint of heart but it sure will make your heart beat faster from fear. Flatline takes things to a new level and I am trying to recover from that cliffhanger. I am currently shaking and in shock while writing this review because of that ending! Ms.Brightmore is an evil genius! I can't wait for the next one! Ms.Brightmore has a way of terrifying me with her writing and she kept me on the edge of my seat turning the pages to find out what would happen to the characters next.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read the first in the series and if you haven't already read the first one do that today because you are so missing out! I'm left with a total book hangover and I NEED the next book! This story won't just mess with your heart it will mess with your mind too. Be prepared to second guess yourself tons of times throughout and maybe don't read of night because you'll be up for hours thinking of it with no promise of sleep.

What a Story …. Flatline, I'm not even sure where to start this review... My Emotions are all over the place. After that ending.
Dark and twisted in the best possible ways.The suspense is crazy in this book, you never know what is going to happen next.
If you haven’t read book 1 Lincoln Hospital stop now and go read to understand this book you will have to read book 1.
Cian as we know from book 1 is a cardiovascular surgeon, but he lives a double life. He is also a killer and he delivers the final Justice to the city’s criminals who get away with what they have done.
Athena and Cian are together now and she is helping on his team, she knows his secrets and is still standing beside him and willing to help, will she go through with it when the time comes?
We Meet a New Doctor.
A nosy Reporter is getting closer to finding out about Cian’s true identity.
In this book no one is safe and everyone is potential victim.

Did I really just read what I just read?
This Lincoln Hospital series has me gripped so hard I'm bruising.
In book one we met Dr. Cian O’Reilly. A cardiologist who is the very best at what he does, saving lives .... and taking them. He's a man whose suffered great loss and now he's working at exacting his revenge for what was so brutally taken from him. He's also handing out revenge to those that have taken advantage of the judicial system and gotten away with heinous crimes.
Athena Payne is an intern working at the same hospital as Dr. O'Reilly. They are instantly attracted to each other and soon find their connection runs blood deep.
Let me just say, this is not a book you should read if you have a queezy stomach, can't take gore, or in any way ever shied away from Steven King because you thought he was too much for you. This has a dark, twisted theme and sweet mother of all that is holy I am hooked to it! I need the next book. NOW!!! Also, if you have a phobia about cliffhangers....wait until book 3 is released. Just sayin.
There were a few grammatical errors in the writing and typos, but I will not let that change my review. I give this 5 blood dripping stars.

Just when you think Cassia can't get anymore dark and twisted..... comes this book!!
I'm torn between lust, horror and sinister pleasure! Following the EPICNESS of Lincoln Hospital, this book is essentially the best 2nd book. It comes as no surprise from this author though.
I'm struggling to write this review because as much as I want to gush and gush.... I just can't give as many details because it literally will give the book away. This review comes in hopes that you've read Lincoln Hospital. If not, I'd suggest and actually say it's a requirement. In this book you get a deeper sense of all that is Dr Cian...... dark and deliciously devious. But that's what is guaranteed to make you love the book. I really feel that the author took her time in this book because the mere fact that I didn't feel as if anything was missing and that I wasn't constantly thinking "that doesn't work"..... I'm kind of scared to know how the author did that... lol something's better left unknown I guess. Overall, this is one adrenaline riding book that will leave you...... slack jawed and loving it!
Ms. Brightmore is the most evil of literary genius and I'm so proud I get to delve into her dark world!

WOW, OMFG, WTF, S***!!! Are literally the first words that come to mind as i have just finished this book!!! My emotions are flying around so damn crazy, it's like a firework display going off inside me!!!
I refuse to give spoilers which is hard as it's such a mind blowing read... i would gladly award this book triple stars but as 5 is sadly the max i can give... 5 it is!!!
YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK EVERYONE... DO NOT MISS OUT!!!
It picks up perfectly from where book 1 finished...
With Cian opening up to Athena!!!...
With the vigilantes work continuing and the serial killer still running riot... this book will have you white knuckled, teeth clenched, growling in places, and have you breathless, panting and drooling in others!!!
Everything about this story is magnificent and flows so well you will completely loose yourself in it!!!...
Ms Brightmore really has knocked me on my ass and stolen my breath with this book!!!... i am physically shaking as i write this (in a good way) and i am so desperate to find out what happens next...

I'm always a little behind on my Cassia Brightmore reading since I only read paperbacks, but believe me when I tell you that her books are ALWAYS worth the wait. I jumped into reading Flatline the day it was delivered and couldn't put it down. I've loved Cian and Athena since the first book in the series and they just kept getting better and better through Flatline. Watching them "work" together in the OR was quite thrilling. And in classic Brightmore fashion, I was kept on the edge of my seat as I awaited the inevitable terror that she always rains down upon me as a reader. By the end of Chapter 18, my jaw was on the floor and I was hoping against hope that she wouldn't go there... But I've read her books and I know better than to fall in love with the characters too much. The ending of Flatline had me wondering if I would need to seek out a grief counselor. This book was fantastic and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Once again Cassia has managed to take us on a whirlwind rollercoaster ride with the second installment of her Trauma series! This book seriously does not disappoint and dare I say it has to be the best work Miss Brightmore has written so far.
The love and lust combined with the rage and determination of our main characters is the perfect combination and really brings out the personalities of our two lovers in this book. We find out much more about our mysterious and smoldering Cain.
But like any of Cassia's books and if you have followed both series' you will know one of her books does not come without a price...a killer cliffhanger! Oh boy does this book have one of those! It may have you screaming profanities at your reading device...I know it did me.
Definitely not one for the faint hearted or squeamish!
I can't wait for the next installment! <3

Holy crapola! That cliffhanger left me gobsmacked and shouting insanely at my kindle. I want more... no, I NEED more!
This is one of the dark romances that sucks you into it depths and spits you out at the end none the wiser. I'm completely enthralled at this Author's work and I can't praise her stories enough.
Each character is unique, in name and in personality, after reading both Lincoln Hospital and Flatline, I feel I'm personally involved with their lives... kinda like a fly on the wall.
My heart and mind have been completely destroyed as I cried and screamed throughout the 2nd installment to Cian O'Reilley and Athena Payne's emotional roller coaster of a journey. I, personally, can not wait for the next book I'm the series. I'm literally dying to know what happens.

Once again I'm in awe of how well Cassia Brightmore keeps the reader on the edge of thier seats. I'm going to need therapy after reading this next installment of The Trauma Series. Dr. Cian is back and he's still bringing the bad guys to justice with his vigilantly form of Justice. Now his lover has become part of his team. Can Athena handle the dark side to Cian or will it destroy them? Will Athena surpass Cian in her need to bring justice to the awful criminals? The book was hot, sexy, twisty, and full of intrigue. Cassia Brightmore keeps the reader fully engaged in this book right up to the draw dropping conclusion. HFS she better get the third book out soon or I may use my inner Dr. Cian on her.

This was one of my most anticipated sequels I loved Lincoln Hospital (book 1) and had so many questions. I am completely stunned by what I just read. Seriously finished the book with my mouth hanging open in shock and horror. I want to throw my Kindle and choke an author. That ending HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP!!!
Now that I have calmed down I absolutely loved watching Athena and Cians love bloom. It was sweet, it was touching and it was HOT! But that ending!!
Back to the book loved seeing Athena get involved in his Psycho Vigilante life, she fit perfectly kind of scary how easily she transitioned. But that ending!!
I learned a lot of answers to questions from the first book but Jeez I have a whole bunch of new ones. And that ending!!!
Need the next one NOW!!!

This book has left me speechless! Every time I begin to think I am getting the whole picture of what is happening, a monkey wrench is thrown in and again I am trying to put it all together.
Flatline begins where Lincoln Hospital leaves off. The first book left us hanging, with many questions about Cain and Athena connection and how some of the main characters are up to if anything at all. I thought that the majority of my questions would be answered but only more keep arising.
I recommend that you read this book and it will leave you Mindf**ked. But if you haven't read Lincoln Hospital first book in series then go receive it. I can't wait for Book 3 to see if the depravity is still going strong or to see how or if the lot of them were waiting for you Jorge. Go get your copy

Cassia Brightmore use to be one of my favorite authors, but since she just left me hanging on a HUGE cliffhanger, I have demoted her.
I have not read a dark romance in quite some time, and this was the perfect book to get me back into that genre.
This is the second book in the Trauma Series, and was was completely thrilled on where the book was headed, but then the rug was pulled out from under me. I absolutely love Cian and Athena, and was completely heart broken that Cian is questioning her loyalty. I really hope we don't have to wait very long for the next book (hint hint Cassia, this would help with your excommunication I currently done to you).

Cassia does it, again! This book was one of the best medical thrillers I have ever read. Cian and Athena are still at it, hot and heavy, and their bond grows deeper as Cian introduces Athena to "his world". But, just as it seems that Cian and Athena have everything they've ever dreamed of, personally and professionally, a sexy new doctor at the hospital could cause some trouble between the pair.
I will definitely be following this series and can hardly wait for the next one to come out. A lot of sequels don't live up to the first and flatline. This sequel was just as good as the first if not even better. Keep bringing it, Cassia!
