Marcia Vaughan became a librarian in 1975 so that she could inspire children to read. After a short while, she began writing her own books. Solid animal and verb primer. Nice illustrations that clearly present each animal and the action it's doing. Even more functionally and educationally basic than Do You See What I See: A Southwest nature walk you read, and featuring different desert animals. So it's great to have both. Rowan digs them about equally. Solid stuff for the beginning and middle of nap and bedtime reading, then follow up with some soothing closers.

It's hard to find books with unique animals that aren't always just cute and cuddly. This book features all sorts of animals from scorpions, to Gila monsters, to cactus wrens, to prairie dogs and more. Lots of very interesting animals and not often found action words to accompany. Unique book that will capture the attention of young readers.

Rhyming book about desert animals. Simple and awesome for encouraging baby naturalist nerdiness (dwarf owl inside a cactus!).
