She's a professor studying sexy cowboys. How could she guess she'd fall for one?
In Heaven Scent, Nancy Verano's spending the summer on a Texas ranch disguised as a nanny, secretly filling in for her unreliable younger sister. She never meant to trick handsome rancher Max Richter, but she has to publish or perish, even if it's a pop culture magazine article about hunky cowboys.
Shotgun Nanny — Nancy Warren
Annie Parker doesn't believe in taking life too seriously; she is, after all, a clown by profession. Her motto is "Have fun, make 'em laugh, and move on." That applies to her love life, too. So why does super serious ex-Mountie and bachelor "dad" Mark Saunders get her heart racing, while his shy niece gets her heart aching? And why on earth does she agree to be their temporary nanny?

I only read Shotgun Nanny as part of the Blogger Bundle Volume IX and not Heaven Scent.
I LOVED this book. Loved it. Adored. Was sad when it was over loved it. Why? Well....
To start with the main character wasn't a high power business woman or a teacher or a doctor or a lawyer or a writer or any of the other empowered modern women contemporary romances are normally about. She was a clown. She was a fricken CLOWN!!
That wasn't what drew me in though. You didn't know she was a clown at the beginning. The clown part was a delicious plot twist. The beginning was fabulous and that's why I couldn't stop clicking the right side of the touch screen for the next page. I dithered for a bit trying to decide if I should tell you why the beginning was made of awesome and decided I couldn't say without ruining the fun of reading so sorry, but you need to read it for yourself. It was worth the purchase price for the entire bundle I promise you.
Annie and her alter ego Gertrude the clown get roped into being a temporary nanny by an ultra protective uncle of a child who lost both her parents. The ultra protective uncle was an ex-Mountie and I never figured out why he was so ultra protective. The child was never endangered unless you count the time the guard dog he got for her dragged her over a sea wall in pursuit of a squirrel (I had visions of UP! every time this dog was mentioned).
There was the unavoidable "I love you, you manly stud. Now put that Mountie uniform on and let's have some little Dudley Do-Rights of our own" moment, but the rest of the book was so made of perfect I didn't care. I did not care about the sap. Did. Not. Care. That good.
Nancy Warren is officially my woobie contemporary romance writer. I'm already looking for more from her.
***Note: I only read the second book that is included in this double edition, "Shotgun Nanny" by Nancy Warren.***
I loved this sweet, funny little romance. Nancy Warren is by far my favorite author of category romances, and one of my favorite contemporary romance novelists, period. This is possibly my favorite of hers that I've read so far. It's got her usual well-drawn characters, and a few hot sex scenes, which she always makes seem real and organic and related to the characters and the plot, not just gratuitous nookie. There's all the Nancy Warren magic and a touch of Jennifer Crusie style humor. Just a lovely book about Annie, a free spirited woman with commitment issues who meets and falls in love with Mark, an uptight ex-Mountie raising his orphaned niece, Emily. There's also a great German shepherd named Kitsu. This is the kind of heartwarming romance about finding not just love, but the life and family you never knew you dreamed of. Loved it, and you will love it too if romances are your type of thing.
So far, I've only read Nancy Warren's story, Shotgun Nanny, but it was a cute and funny read with a very likable hero and heroine. I love Nancy Warren's books.
