Samantha has lived in an asylum her whole life and a man comes to visit her and ask her questions on occasion to which she makes prophecies, at the beginning of the book she says that Clark will overthrow the president, is she insane or can she actually see the future? Clark and Amethyst are married and doing well when a clockwork line kidnaps their daughter and sets into motion a whole series of events.

Okay so I'm not really sure what the heck I just read, this book was kind of bizarre and I'm not sure if it's because it's actually bizarre or because I haven't read the first two books. It had such a weird morbid but sexual vibe it like for some reason reminded me of the whole insane clown posse thing. Like half the time people are just blatantly sexual and the other half they're violent. At one point and I was just like what the hell because that's a little much. I kind of feel like I should go back and read the first two books or something but at the same time I'm like do I want to do that to myself?

The writing and story line themselves weren't that bad though and my interest was peaked a lot of times through out the book especially with the whole Samantha arc. The plot line was also super interesting and the whole technology thing with the clockwork and potions was cool but it didn't fit together as neatly when they tried to wrap it all up at the end. . So I'm just kind of weirded out and not sure where I stand on the whole thing like I didn't like but I didn't dislike it and it wasn't bad but it was strange and not sure in a good way...

Clark and Amethyst’s daughter Jolene was now one year old and an absolute delight. But when she was kidnapped their happy and contented life took a complete turn. When Amethyst found a fortune teller who gave her information about Jolene’s abduction, including details about a clockwork lion, Clark and Amethyst were on the hunt. But things were not as they seemed…

Samantha was in an asylum for the insane – her visions were such that the government wanted to hear what she said – but was it real? But then her prediction that Clark would oust the president convinced them of her insanity...

With conspirators against the country, and also attacking Clark from every side, he knew he had to act – and fast. Could he win against everyone who was determined to bring down their country, plus Clark and Amethyst themselves?

Wicked Treasure is the third in the Treasure Chronicles by Jordan Elizabeth Mierak – a fun and fast paced fantasy, the continuation of the series works well with this episode. A little different to the first two novels, with more focus on the government conspiracy, nevertheless it was an entertaining read.

With thanks to the author for my digital copy to read and review.

I've loved Clark and Amethyst from the very beginning. I don't think that I will ever get tired of these two.
In this third instalment of Treasure Chronicles they are trying to bring down the people who are conspiring against their country. But sometimes things are not as they seem. There is a lot they don't know about. But with little help from a fortuneteller they will soon figure out exactly what's been going on.
Clark was a wanted man once. He knows how to take care of himself and protect his family. If anyone threatens his family they will not win. His wife Amethyst is just as fiercely protective of those she loves as he is. Together they make a perfect couple, and a perfect team. This time they have to save not only those they love but also their country.
It's a fast paced novel and once I started reading all the suspense, adventure, and thrill made it impossible for me to put it down. As much as I read it is very difficult for me to find something entirely unique, something I haven't read before, Jordan Elizabeth Mierek gives me that. Every book I have read of hers is amazingly unique, her writing style, her plots, the way she link things with history, it all gives her books out-of-the-world kind of feel. What can I say I am a fan. ;) And I'd definitely be recommending this book to all my reader friends.

I got this book to review through NetGalley. This was a good continuation of the Treasure Chronicles. The writing is well done, easy to read, and makes for a book that is hard to put down. There are a lot more politics/conspiracy and less steampunk adventure than in the previous two books; so I didn't like it quite as much as the first two books. However, it was still an excellent read.

Time has past since the second book; Clark and Amethyst are well off and have a young daughter. I continue to enjoy Clark and Amethyst quite a bit, they are very fun characters to read about.

I was a bit disappointed that there aren’t a ton of steampunk elements in this book. We do get to venture through a clockwork circus which was neat. However, most of the story focused on a government conspiracy around the type of research and elixirs that gave Clark his special abilities.

Even though I don’t usually enjoy conspiracy novels with a lot of political content; Elizabeth’s writing flows beautifully and is very easy and engaging to read. I whipped right through this book and enjoyed it a lot.

Overall this was a good continuation of the Treasure Chronicles. I enjoyed the characters and the world. I was a bit disappointed on all the focus on conspiracy and the reduction of steampunky goodness. However this is still a very good read. I would recommend to those who enjoy historical fantasy with some adventure and paranormal elements.

in have been a fan of this series since I first read the very first book. this book while good didn't pull me in the same way.

it was still very good but I think the characters have evolved so much that they have grown too far from what I loved about the original novel.

still a great read

I recieved this book from the publisher for review.

I am not sure if this book was really needed for the series. It was a strange addition to what I felt was a decent duology. Yes, I thought the last book had a couple loose ends, but this whole book I wasn't really sure worked.

For starters, the some of the characters behaved rather strangely for the situations they were in. Amethyst in particular. In one chapter she is hysteric about finding her kidnapped daughter, then the next she's acting like she's fine. Either she is extremely good at locking away the panic of not knowing where her infant is, something I know I wouldn't be able to do at all if something happened to my son, or something is amiss.

I was a little lost while reading this book, but it has been a while since I have read book 2. But it had a very strange vibe to throughout. I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had hoped. It was just strange and I don't think it was written as well as the other books.

This was a wild ride.

This is a story about Clark and Amethyst Grisham setting out to seek their kidnapped daughter and get the culprit punished. But things are not as simple as they seem. They ultimately find themselves caught up in a complicated game of politics between the government and the royalty.

While the plot was interesting and multifaceted, a lot of things seemed exaggerrated and overly dramatized. The asylum, for example, was demonized from the beginning to end - how the nurses were cruel and mistreated the patients like they enjoyed it. Not even one nurse that is nice? Come on. But a lot of the crazy wild things kept things exciting and me hooked. I enjoyed myself greatly through the mystery, twists and the thrill of danger. See the bookcover? Amethyst is one badass girl.

A lot of the characters are nicely crafted and likeable. I enjoyed Jas's character. His story was interesting, and I liked his charisma. I appreciated Eric contributing to the cause with his own great skills. And I have already mentioned in the previous book's review that I adore Garth. We need more honest people like him on earth. I liked Zachariah in this even more for an obvious reason. And I think I am not the only one who likes and admires Clark.

The story is set in the Wild West with a steampunk twist. That's where it gets more wild - the characters' reckless ways supported with sci-fi elements make for an incredible adventure. I recommend this book if you would like an exciting, wild read with some well-crafted characters (and if you don't mind a lot of sexuality, gore and a touch of disturbing elements like the following, that is).

The child's cackle was louder than the thud of the body hitting the ground.

I also want to say that I loved how the conflict ended - a few things were challenged, and how they came out if stronger than before. It was my favourite thing to see.

Received an eBook copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Elizabeth blends elements of political thriller and frontier action with the mystical end of steampunk to create a tale that has both style and substance.

This is the third volume of The Treasure Chronicles series. Spoilers for previous books might leap out, rise up, or otherwise manifest after this point.

With the army no longer chasing them, Clark and Amethyst are enjoying married life—until their new daughter is kidnapped. The trail leads to a familiar name but also to a wider political conspiracy. Meanwhile, unknown to them, an inmate at an asylum prophecies that it is Clark who will bring down the presidency.

Where the previous two books were quite narrowly focused on Clark escaping the military and defeating Senator Horan, this one expands the plot to include the possibility of prophecy and the ongoing tension from the nation having gone from monarchy to republic less than a generation ago.

This new and distinct set of issues rather than a resurgence of the military’s interest in using him avoids undermining the victory of the previous books and provides readers with new characters and fresh insights into the world.

However, especially given the previous books were a single story split between volumes, the shift does also make this novel feel separated from the previous narrative: the extent of this, and whether it detracts from the experience, are likely to vary depending on which aspects of the series a reader most enjoyed.

Elizabeth skilfully adds new snippets of evidence to the conspiracy, neither frustrating the reader with repeated twists nor making it obvious enough that the characters’ failure to uncover the truth makes them seem wilfully obtuse.

In parallel, she weaves the tale of a girl potentially with prophetic powers imprisoned by a mysterious group within the government. Unlike the nuances of the conspiracy, Elizabeth does not provide the exact nature of the girl’s powers or details of the mechanism behind her having them. While this does avoid making the mystical feel mundane or reliable, adding to the tension, it also informs the reader that more than one sort of magic is possible while not providing the limits, weakening the reader’s ability to predict whether a situation is serious or not.

Unlike many series where lead characters fell in love and struggled to be together, this novel does not feature a subplot in which the couple are driven apart by misunderstanding; instead, Elizabeth embraces the idea of Clark and Amethyst being a happily married young couple, leading to behaviour that some characters—and potentially some readers—find inappropriate for public consumption.

Clark and Amethyst remain sympathetic protagonists, consistent with their previous appearances but shaped by them too. As befits a married couple, they each both draw strength from the other and strive to be worthy of them.

The returning cast are similarly complex and nuanced characters, rooted in but not straitjacketed by their previous appearances. Of particular note is Elizabeth’s recognition that loyalty and morality can each drive someone to support (or oppose) another, so a character might like someone but not agree with them or support them without liking them.

While the introduction of two new major threads does necessitate the adding of a reasonable number of new characters, Elizabeth skilfully creates her scenes to maximise the reader’s exposure to insights into their drives and personalities without denying page-time to the returning characters.

Overall, I enjoyed this novel. I recommend it to readers seeking a conspiracy thriller that is neither set in the modern real world nor a Western medieval fantasy setting.

I received a free copy from the author with a request for a fair review.

My first introduction to the steampunk genre was when I took a chance and jumped head long into one of Jordan Elizabeth's books. I was completely taken aback by how well the steampunk concept worked, but I don't think I'd have enjoyed it nearly as much had it not been coupled with Elizabeth's creative storytelling charm. When I read the first two Treasure Chronicles books I was equally fulfilled by the character development and story arcs. There was action and intrigue, near forbidden romance, and it all worked. I really loved them and was eager to see what might come next for them down the line.

So, when the author offered me a chance to read and review Wicked Treasure I was incredibly excited to dive back into the wonderful world of Hedlund, New Addison City, and any place in between. However, I have to say, something about this third installment just felt off to me from the start. The storyline didn't reach out and grab me like the first two did. The basis for it was interesting enough, but somehow it felt unbelievable. There were some great concepts and ideas within it, yet many didn't seem like they were explored fully. In short, I didn't get the same vibe from this book as I did from the others. Actually it seemed somewhat choppy at times and as though there were several lose ends or angles that could have been explored better.

I'm sad I couldn't give this a higher rating because I usually do enjoy Elizabeth's books so much more than I did this particular title. All the same, my genuine thanks go out to the author for giving me this review opportunity.

I really liked book 3 the most out of the entire series. While I could have seen Jordan stop after book 2, I'm glad she didn't because this was a great read. There was a lot of action and wow moments that it was hard for me to stop reading when it was time to do something else. I can say that I wasn't a big fan of Amethyst is this story, she was overly sexual, in my opinion, and I didn't feel like it really went with the Amethyst character from books 1 and two. The storyline was well written but I did notice one issue that I thought was kind of big. So Clara (the ghost) and Samantha had both said that Clark would end up being president and somehow the government would collapse or something along those lines. Yet, once you got to the end, those predictions weren't true. Clark didn't become president and besides the current president being replaced, there was nothing bad that affected the government overall.

In the end, I'm a big fan of Jordan. I love her stories, and at this point in time, I think I've read the majority of them. :D

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

I will have to say I'm a little torn on this installment in the Treasure Chronicles. There were aspects of the book that were really good and meshed well with the other books in the series. But, there almost seemed like there was stuff that might have been left out or rushed (just a sense of something being off in general). That being said, it was still a good read, very well written (as are most of Jordan's books). It also had loads to offer: kidnappings, government plots and conspiracies, angry mobs, etc. I wasn't a big fan of the way that it ended either. Hopefully, there will be another book so we can see where things go from here😉.

Bloody gears, what a finale!

This was one of the best final books in a series that I've listened to in a very long time. This was non-stop action from Clark, Amethyst, and the entire cast of characters. I loved the idea of the clockwork circus as well as some of the steam contraptions that the characters got to enjoy.

The plot with the country leadership was enthralling and had me going as to who was behind the goings-on in the story.

The narrator was absolutely fantastic and I loved waiting to hear her say "Bloody gears" or "Brass glass" again.

This wonderful tale easily merits a 5-star review. Very well done!

Good read

I enjoyed this but there was too much left hanging. I would enjoy more about the families rather than them being on the periphery. We just got Eric back yet we didn't get to hear about him. I like the Treasures and they were also pretty absent. Not enough ghosts. Not enough Bromi and no gang involvement at all. It felt like a side story and not part of the series.. I would still recommend but hope the series takes a different course and brings back some of the main characters. Gbash

This latest full-length Treasures Chronicles story is a great read, full of so many twists and turns it's like riding a steamcycle down some beautiful English country lanes! With plenty of action, adventure, romance, mysticism and lots of steampunk twists, this is a fabulous book that I'd highly recommend to all Treasures Chronicles fans. I hope this won't be the last we'll see of the Treasures, Grishams and their friends.

Another amazing book by Jordan that I was lucky to have gifted to me. It has been a while since I read the rest of the series, but Clark and Amethyst still make a superb team. I did feel that the end was rushed, everything happened so quickly it was hard to put all the pieces into place to make sure they were all there. A great read to take you back in time with the addition of ghosts and super cool gadgets! I especially love the one Amethyst gets to use in her rescues!

This steampunk conspiracy adventure was a truly excellent book. In this third book, there is a little less of the steampunk more about Clark and Amethyst facing challenges as they are caught up with the games being played. Jordan Elizabeth is such a unique and clever writer this is definitely a book I will recommend to all my friends. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

The storyline was incredible! Very well written and so exciting with all the amazing twists and turns within the story. I have decided after reading this story that I am a fan of steampunk and I highly recommend this read!!

The not-quite-developed seed of the story in "Born of Treasure" has sprung up strongly in "Wicked Treasure". Certain facts and characters seem out of place, but the story gallops forward in a wild careening stampede. Think Mack Bolan in the old West - that's how thrilling this is. Great read!

When their one-year-old daughter, Jolene, is kidnapped by a clockwork lion, Clark and Amethyst are desperate to find her. They also want to know who did it, and why... A fortuneteller guides them in the right direction, but he’s afraid. Meanwhile, Samantha, in an insane asylum, has visions connected to Clark and the government, which is why someone is keeping her there—to learn what she knows.

In this complex and eventful third novel in the Treasure series, technology and psychic abilities come to the fore. Author Jordan Elizabeth knows her characters—not just in this series, but in whatever she sits down to write. She’s sort of psychic herself that way—as if she were channeling real people. Her descriptive powers also come to the fore here, and she paints a world that never existed in what is a steampunk novel of a past that never was. Do yourself a favor and read the first two books first so that you can more fully grasp the rich shading of these characters.

This is one of those books which has so many different aspects that it's hard to shove it into one specific genre drawer.

A young woman, who's been locked away in an asylum for years, predicts that Clark will take over the presidency. This sets off a string of events, which leads to the kidnapping of Clark and Amethyst's daughter. These two will stop at nothing to get their daughter back, unleashing a wave of revealed conspiracy and adventure.

This is the third book in the series, and I was really looking forward to diving in. Although this book doesn't hang on to the plot from the first two, it's easier to understand the characters and their style after reading the rest of the series. However, it is possible to jump into this one as a stand alone.

Unlike the first two books, the steampunk elements back down and government conspiracy fills the left over holes. This gives the entire book a different direction, which leaves Steampunk fans a little unsatisfied. On the other hands, fans of conspiracy and history will be a little more in their element. The characters, Clark and Amethyst, are still as strong-headed and courageous as before. They don't back down and take on anyone and anything to get their daughter back. It's hard not to get caught up in their struggle and cheer them on. The dark style and romantic elements hold strong as they always have for these two characters.

The plot runs a little differently than in the rest of the series, but it grabs just as much. With a captivating writing style, the author brings the world to life and keeps the tension high. The characters and their motives are layered with intrigue and shadows, adding twists and turns at unexpected times. Especially the addition of Samantha brings a nice sub-plot and puts a new dimension to the story. There were a few moments when confusion sets in, and some characters' actions fell a bit out of sync, but it wasn't enough to make me want to lay the book down. I still needed to see how things turned out in the end.

Summed up, this book takes a different turn to the rest of the series but is just as engaging and holds many surprises. Especially fans of action, paranormal, history and conspiracy will enjoy giving this a read.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and enjoyed it enough to want to freely leave my thoughts.

Clark and Amethyst are just living their lives when a clockwork lion takes their daughter from them. They get a lead that takes them on an adventure neither was looking for. As they look for answers to why someone would take their daughter, they uncover a conspiracy that is about more than just their family … it concerns the country. What will Clark and Amethyst be required to survive in this tale?

Wicked Treasure is the third book in the Treasure Chronicles. Although it has been awhile since I read the first two books, the characters quickly pulled me into the story and I was easily swept away with this new journey. Mierek has reinvigorated this clockwork world and promises additional stories will come along. Wicked Treasure is a fun read, but would be best enjoyed in the proper sequence.
