I love summer, the smell of clean babies, lilacs and swimming. I'm a Midwestern mother of five, Mimi of two and owner of three fur babies.
I spend my weekdays writing full time and raising my family.
I write about intelligent women and the stubborn men who love them. I write about turmoil and conflict. I write about the most complex, convoluted emotion we as humans experience.
This is the first book I've read by Emerson Rose. I liked the premise --though, it didn't quite deliver for me -- single widowed father with a 4-year old daughter. Nick's a famous football player and Tea is a talented photographer. Tea was a bit too bohemian for me with all the tats and piercings in places where they should never be. The reader has to suspend disbelief on two separate occasions when Tea could have easily identified Nick and the other when Nick could have identified her feet.
Insta-love. Not very believable. Single dad lets a stranger (heroine) he knew for a day live with him and his 5 year old daughter in his house. I-love-you's after a week. I just can't take this seriously.
Cute, quick read (story ends @ 30% - there are bonus stories included). Get's right to the chase from page one. A football player...single dad... A photographer...just living life and open to welcome happily ever after...
Cute story about love at first sight. Loved Tea and Nick's story. A "wild Child" photographer and a football quarterback. Nick's daughter, Scarlet, was the icing on the cake. A must read.
Ok. I don't know what to think of this one. It started off good.
Shay threw me off is when they began talking online. How did they not know, especially her that it was the same person?
Matt needed his ass kicked way more than he got.
I don't know how I feel about Nick having phone sex while another woman he's planning to have sex with, that night, is in that house. Same goes for Tea.
The weirdest part of the book was the BDSM thing that came out of left field. I'm glad it turned out the way it did
Téa and Nick met under unusual circumstances but that didn't stop them from falling in love. I think the supporting characters played the lead this time. From Buck's daughter Scarlett kicking a chair to aunt Serena making sure the two love birds remained together. The dialogue was fresh and moved along seamlessly.
Fair Play is another sports romance that is a standalone novel with a HEA ending. Emerson Rose has another winner on her hands with this storyline. The characters were perfection and lots of smokin hot chemistry. Al. In all a fabulous read that I would highly recommend.
The characters were cute, but the adults were slow at times. Nevertheless, I want a story solely based on Scarlett and her sass! She was so cute and loveable.
Fair Play is a sweet, sexy football romance. Téa, Nick and Scarlet are the perfect team! I absolutely fell in love with them all, especially Scarlet. It was much sweeter than I had expected, but still sexy and loving. Téa is a photographer for Crush magazine heading to Myrtle Beach for an assignment. She meets Scarlet and her dad Nick when Scarlet kicks her seat from behind on their plane. One look at the adorable 4-year old and Téa falls in love with her, and not too soon after, falls in love with her sexy dad, Nick. Nick, who is the quarterback for the South Carolina Hawks, offers Téa a job taking photos of Scarlet and himself, which she accepts. Their relationship takes off from there, especially when Téa is so good with Scarlet that Nick offers her the job of nanny (plus photographer) when Scarlet's previous nanny retires after having suffered an injury that her children think means she's too old to be nannying anymore.
Their connection is really hot, and it's pretty instantaneous, but they don't act on it right away. Unbeknownst to them, they are communicating with each other through an online dating app, and slowly falling for each other both through the app and in person. Their sexting is so hot, and that heat is felt both through the app and face to face. I like how their relationship evolves, and I love how Nick takes care of Téa after she suffers from a deadly attack at her friend's house. But what I love most is how Nick, and Téa are so amazing with Scarlet. She's absolutely adorable, and the central key to their relationship.
Another thing I appreciate about Fair Play is that Nick isn't the usual playboy athlete portrayed in so many sports romances these days. Instead, he's a conscientious, devoted single dad who cares most about what's best for his daughter, not about his career, drinking and sleeping around. I wish more athletes in romances were like him, instead of hard drinking womanizers.
There are 2 other books of Emerson's included with Fair Play, Fair Catch and Fair Game, which are books 1 and 2 in this series. Both are good, but I like Fair Play even more.

Meet Nick. He’s smart, independent, a football star in his own right. He’s deliciously sexy, yummy in all the right places, but he is very single. They only have each other. Nick will do anything and everything for his baby girl.
But on a flight home, Nick never in a million years would have guessed that he would find the one. He would never have guessed that his beautiful little girl Scarlet will change everything for him. Never in a million years did Nick ever think he would find her. She will be his game changer. She will change everything. Nick and Scarlet will never be alone again. They have found Tea.
A beautiful, young, very single, independent free-spirited woman, Tea is on a long flight to do a job. As a professional photographer, her work takes her to all corners of the world. She loves her work, but she is finding it all a little suffocating. She wants to work for herself. But she doesn’t have to funds. So it’s on another plane ride again to follow the money. Tea is used to this way of life. But what she doesn’t bargain for is a beautiful little girl changing everything for her. She doesn’t expect him. Scarlet and Nick will be her game changer.
Welcome to Nick, Tea and Scarlet’s world.
Wow, just wow. Fair Play what can I say…..A brilliant read that I just couldn’t put down. I instantly fell in love with Nick and Tea, but Scarlet she just absolutely captured my heart and soul. A beautifully written novel, full of depth I could feel every emotion, every heartache, every fear and every tear shed. It’s sweet, warm, at times heartbreaking, a little confronting and raw…..Oh and lets not forget very, very naughty. A highly recommended read for those of us who love a happily ever after.
Fair Play is about Tea Brown, a photographer based in Chicago on assignment to Myrtle Beach, and Nick Wood, quarterback for the South Carolina Hawks & father to four year old Scarlet. They all meet on a plane from Chicago to Myrtle Beach when Scarlet starts kicking Tea's seat. Scarlet takes an instant liking to Tea, and both Tea and Nick are attracted to each other. When Nick finds out Tea is a professional photographer, he asks if she would take some pictures of him and Scarlet. She gives him her business card and he tells her he'll call to set up a photoshoot.
Tea checks into the cheap hotel her magazine paid for and has a couple of days of work and after she's sent off her latest pictures to her boss, she logs into a dating app and chats with "Emmett", who seems very nice. At that same time, Nick is on a dating app, chatting with "Red" and enjoying himself. They have no idea they are talking with each other.
The next day, Nick calls Tea but she doesn't answer, so he leaves a voicemail. She calls him back and they set up a time for doing the photoshoot. That evening, Tea goes to eat some takeout on the beach and runs into her old best friend from high school, and they catch up. When Tea goes back to her hotel, she is awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of someone trying to open her door. She is terrified and even after finding out it was just a drunk man mistaking her room for his, she checks out the next morning.
After the photoshoot, Nick offers for Tea to stay with him and Scarlet for the rest of her stay in Myrtle Beach. She really likes Nick and is smitten with Scarlet and just can't say no to Scarlet's excited pleas for her to stay. I don't give spoilers, so that's as much of the story as I will tell. What will happen with Tea and Nick (& don't forget the adorable Scarlet!)? This book had it all: romance, funny moments, sad moments, scary moments, dirty talk, hot sex scenes, the cutest four year old...just everything.
This was my first book by Emerson, and based on this, will NOT be my last! I can't wait to dive into her other books!
Rose succeeds at giving readers a couple with chemistry. The little kid character is cute. I do get slightly annoyed at the kind of mistakes that editors should catch..."Tara" is the plantation in Gone With the Wind. Simple. Téa's prudishness was awkward, especially given everything else that was revealed about her character.
This is my favorite book in this football trilogy! We meet Téa on a plane, on her way to Myrtle Beach to do a photoshoot for the magazine she works for! But as she sits on the plane she gets a little kick to her seat by the adorable child behind her! Scarlett makes herself at home with Téa and she takes to her straight away, which is unusual for her. Then her attention is turned towards Nick! The handsome football player! Who is the loving father to Scarlett. He is also a widow. They strike up a conversation and Téa gives him her card so she can do them a family portrait. They are both on a dating site and end up talking to each other through the app but don't really know it's each other. The both want to see where their relationship can go and they are both torn between real life and the people they are talking to on the app! It's kinda like two separate couples in the book! Téa is a free spirit and loves anything to do with photography and wants to own her own business! Nick is kind, gentle and loving but he also has an alpha male side too! They go to an old school friends house of Téa's and things take a drastic turn! My God, my heart was in my mouth! Didn't see that coming at all! I really loved Scarlett! She was definitely a little cutie! Even though their relationship was fast it was a beautiful story! You could feel the chemistry between the two of them coming off the page. A beautiful end to a wonderful trilogy!

This is the story of Tea and Nick. Tea and Nick meet on a plane as his daughter is kicking the back of Tea’s seat. The relationship develops smoothly and easily. They are also both using the same dating app and have unknowingly communicated with each other on there as well.
I like that she is mixed race and not your typical heroine. Both also are open and honest in their communication – that’s a real plus. Their messaging conversations and the teasing and playfulness (like falling into the pool) are fun.
Both are very likeable and the characters are fairly well developed. The writing itself is at a rather low reading level, but the story is very good with enough angst and a twist to keep it interesting.
I look forward to reading the bonus books included in the book with this novella.
First, just a heads up, the page count is way off here. Do not expect a novel, just a barely there short story. According to my Kindle this story ends at 30% of what downloads. I saw there was another story included but still, a head's up would have been nice. Second, I'll state the obvious: I am a cover-hoe. Yep, that is one fine cover, and my fingers clicked before I really thought about it. So that's on me. The story is sweet, and has some very touching scenes that tug on the ol' heartstrings. It's also an insta-love. Then there's the some drama that started off well and then fell apart with a lame resolve. And neither main character is very bright when the whole online dating/real life dating crosses over. Saw that coming a mile away, and while I think the author writes well in construct, I personally appreciate a book that's written with an intelligent reader in mind. I feel like this was written with sparkly-eyed girls in mind, and throws in some smut to keep it out of the YA category. A lot of fluff, and super gooey romance, but entertaining enough for a quickie. As in a couple hour read quickie. Can't say I am sold on the author yet, but that IS one fine cover.
I. Loved. This. Book. From the first page and through the first chapter, I was drawn in by Tea's wit, sarcasm and interaction with people and her confidence! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down until finished at 2 in the morning! Tea is a professional photographer on a flight headed to a new assignment. As luck would have it, she's seated in front of the wiggly, kicking kid of the flight. As she whips around to say something, she's mesmerized by a beautiful little girl and her equally handsome daddy. Nick and his 4-year old daughter, Scarlet, are flying home when she grabs the attention of the passenger in front of her. Tea's personality draws them in and Nick requests Tea to do a family photo session of them. The connections between Tea and Nick and Scarlet are quick forming, humorous and endearing. This is a novel you'll be glad you took the time to read. Fair Play is a stand alone and HEA. It will send you searching for more novels by Author Emerson Rose!
*I was given an ARC of Fair Play for an honest review*
“There are times when life unexpectedly snatches something precious away, and other times it quietly offers you a gift so valuable you never fully know its worth.”
Nick and Téa meet on a plane. He’s a gorgeous and charming single dad and widower of beautiful little Scarlet. Scarlet, who’s usually wary of strangers, takes to Téa immediately. Nick is pretty taken with her himself.
Nick is a famous football player and Téa is a free-spirited, tattooed, and pierced photographer. She’s not normally shy or tongue-tied, but Nick’s presence really affects her.
Téa finds him wholly attractive and adores his devotion to his daughter. Nick finds Téa stunning in her individuality.
“I catch Tea’s eyes, and something in them gives me pause. This moment feels exactly right. Like it was meant to be or déjà vu or destiny.”
I really enjoyed this novel. I loved the connection and spark between Nick and Téa. Even though their relationship moved very quickly, it didn’t feel rushed. The storyline was great – it was sexy, a bit angsty, had a bit of drama, and a lot of beauty.
This is one of my favorities out of this football series by Emerson Rose. I loved the MC of this book- Scarlett & Nick. Their attraction is so immediate. They meet on an airplane trip where she immediately forms a bond with his daughter, Tea. This is unusual for Scarlett because she didn’t think she liked children. Tea finds herself so happy to be around Scarlett and Nick can’t help but want to be around Scarlett. They happen to be going to the same city.. as the story progresses, they end up in the same city, and Scarlett ends up temporality working for him. Not as a photographer, which is what she normally does, but to be a nanny for him . I found their path to love filled with passion, suspense, laughter, hijinks, and sexual tension. I loved Tea and how she and Scarlett bonded. The connection between Nick and Scarlett was phenomenal. There are some things going on, with twists and turns that take this story from good to fantastic.
My rating: 4.6 stars **** **I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review***
I really enjoyed Fair Play, and I was drawn in by the characters right from the very beginning. I love the relationship between Nick and his daughter, Scarlet. His love and devotion to her is so clearly written all throughout the book. Then there’s the dynamic between Nick and Tea…can you say smoking? Tea is sexy and sassy and so not what Nick ever expected.
“There are times when life unexpectedly snatches something precious away, and other times it quietly offers you a gift so valuable you never fully know its worth.”
This was probably my favorite book in the “football romance” series by Emerson Rose. There was a timeline issue at one point, but it didn’t distract from the story. If you are unsure of reading this book because it’s labeled as a football story and you’re not a sports fan, don’t worry. Read it anyway. There is way more romance and no football [other than the mention that he’s a quarterback].
I give Fair Play 4 stars.

Tea is a photographer, no she hasn't had the chance to travel to a lot of exotic places but she's headed to Myrtle Beach and she couldn't be happier to leave Chicago for a few days, while sitting on the plane she keeps getting kicked in the back of her chair, when she's met by the cutest little girl, but what's even better is her hot dad, Nick introduces himself as he apologizes for his daughter but he can't help but be drawn to Tea, she's different and his daughter likes her. Discovering that they are headed to the same place Nick talks Tea into doing some family photos, but when a event changes into something bad Tea is offered to stay at Nicks place and to go to Hawaii with him and his daughter. Tea knows she shouldn't want Nick but her feelings are very strong and Nick is so wrapped up in Tea that he has to convince her they are worth it . loved it. ARC given exchange for an honest review.
I received this book free as an ARC for my honest review.

What the reviewer liked: I liked the single father angle of this book
I instantly fell in love with Téa and Nick. Their love story is so special. Who would have thought that a child kicking your seat on a plane could lead you to your happily ever after. Téa was heading to Myrtle Beach to photograph a celebrity for work. Nick was heading home to Myrtle Beach with his daughter. Her a photographer and he a famous football player. Little did the know that was the first day of the rest of their lives. This story really touched my heart. It shows that even after tragedy, you can still open your heart and find love again. This was my first book I've read from Emerson Rose. I would definitely recommend this story to everyone to read. I cannot wait to read more of her books.
