Fletcher Connolly just can’t win for losing.

After his heist of the Gizmo of Rejuvenation went sideways, Fletch realizes just how much the pursuit of his dreams of wealth has cost him. Together with his partners in crime and one old enemy, Fletch finds himself abducted aboard the mysterious Ghost Train, bound for the unknown distant reaches of the Interstellar Railroad. Only one thing is certain: no one abducted by the Ghost Train has ever returned. So naturally Fletch and his companions jump at the chance to get off at the next stop.

But when a seemingly kindly planet shows its true savage nature, Fletch and the others resolve that perhaps there is something more to the idea of continuing to enjoy the Ghost Train’s hospitality. Speeding toward the core of the galaxy with nowhere to run, Fletcher Connolly faces the understanding that no amount of his usual tactics will help him this time.

He has no choice but to put his Irish cunning to the test. For the first time in his life, he must face appalling peril for the sake of humanity alone, profit be damned.

Can he find a way to outsmart the greatest minds of the galaxy and win back their freedom? Or will Fletcher Connolly never see home again?

This is the final volume of The Reluctant Adventures of Fletcher Connolly on the Interstellar Railroad. Stay tuned for the follow-on series ... the Interstellar Circus!

About the author

Felix R. Savage

90 books119 followers
Felix R. Savage writes hard science fiction, space opera, and comedic science fiction. He has also occasionally been known to commit fantasy.

Felix has a long history associated with rebellion. He was born in the 1970s, a decade of American youth rebelling against the safe culture of their parents. He is married to a wonderful woman and they have two beautiful daughters. Together the four of them live in Tokyo serving their cat overlord and benevolent protector. Felix pounds the keyboard while not translating, delighting in his family, or catering to the whims of the family’s cat. He woke up one day to learn that he was a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, but he continues to keep a low profile, and never stops watching out for any sign the lizard people have found him.

Kindle Unlimited but one as freebie and rest thru ku, without coercion, if one doesn't count Star Wars references and other such oddly interesting things. He needs to come sit by me and tell me stories, but until he does I suppose binge reading all to most of his books will have to do me.He ain't 'right' but that may be redundant when saying it to reference a writer; he is interesting to read, which can not be said about all writers. NOTE date is wrong for some reason review didn't take or I forgot or ?

This entire series has been a fun read. The concept of the interstellar railroad is interesting and - in my experience, at least - pretty novel. I also like that it's near-future, so everything is based on current tech and how it would evolve with the addition of alien tech resources as guidance.

One thing that I found grating, though, was the author's continued use of "he" to describe a M to F transgender person. Much of how that character was handled was problematic for me.

An enjoyable conclusion to a fun story. One of those books that it is okay to put down for a while and doesn’t require a ton of attention, but worth a listen. Smooth like the train ride it embodies.

Oh one megalomanic alien "rules" the galaxy. Good ending, felt a little rushed though.

The conclusion of the series was good. Some decent happy endings and few strange turns aside the whole story was pretty awesome. Will definitely be checking out the rest of Mr Savage's works.

"Everyone knows it's 42, anyway"
Once again our swashbuckling Irish hero - er, hero? Oh, well - finds himself trapped with just a couple of friends (?) and his old piratical uncle in a seemingly impossible position, trapped on the Ghost Ship as it travels the Intergalactic Highway. A few foolhardy souls have approached it in the past. They never returned. Fletch's dreams of the fortune to buy that planet of his own are rapidly
fading, especially after the discovery of the bones...
Like it's predecessors in the Reluctant Adventures series, Supermassive Blackguard is constant, irreverent action and positively seething with aliens, large, small, hard and, sometimes, squishy. Will Fletch's ingenuity and heroism - sorry - cowardice save them all again or are the little group of companions ( in the loosest sense of the word) doomed to forever travel the Intergalactic Highway? To find out, go get this book now. It could be read as a stand alone, but if you haven't yet had the pleasure of reading the first three books, what are you waiting for?
Warning: be prepared for laughter.

Another instalment of the bumbling adventures of treasure hunter Fletcher Connolly and a misfit crew of rogues and pirates. This time he saves the universe, but that wasn't his intention. Trapped on the mysterious Ghost Train, all he wants to do is escape. Unfortunately, it isn't as easy as just stepping off. Fletch has to pit his wits and low-born cunning against the Master of the Universe. As usual, he escapes by the skin of his teeth. Wonderful nonsense. I recommend this to any fantasy or sci-fi fan who likes a good chuckle.

Like the rest of the books in the Interstellar Railroad series, the fourth and final book was full of the same crazy as the rest. The series is concluded, but I could see more from the author if he were inclined. I’m definitely going to check out more work from Felix R. Savage in the future. If he writes characters and situations as good as Fletch Connolly, then I have many wonderful hours of reading to look forward to.

Great ending to a great series

Like always this was a crazy, funny adventure. A few surprises at the end that's think anyone will like. It's sad to see that this is the end if the series. Like all good things must come to an end. But, what a hell of a ride!

This series kept getting better and better

This series was full of adventure and excitement, and I'm sad that this was the last book. I'll be sure to keep track of the Author's new books.

Hilarious

Non-stop frivolity and nonsense with a bit of sass thrown in for good measure. Overall a good light read that will make you chuckle.
