Blitzed this book on a plane ride; it's a good primer for those who want to start understanding the networks and where the potential areas for applying cybersecurity are. I'd have preferred more diagrams because the diagrams they DO have are pretty good. Working through the provided case studies also helped illustrate the issues better too.

Essentially Good

A great book on cybersecurity.

This book is a fantastic starting point for anyone looking to enter the field or expand their knowledge on the subject.

Brooks did an excellent job of covering the basics while still providing in-depth information on different aspects of cybersecurity.

While some of the material may be slightly outdated, the fundamental principles remain relevant, making this an important read for anyone interested in cybersecurity.

I also appreciated how the author explained complex topics in a way that was easy to understand and follow, making it accessible to readers of all levels.

Overall, I would recommend Cybersecurity Essentials to anyone looking to increase their understanding of cybersecurity, regardless of their technical background.
It's a comprehensive and informative read that will leave you feeling more confident about your ability to stay safe and secure online.

This is a solid book, but is very introductory and a bit dated at this point. If you have experience with security this is probably not the book for you. If you're brand new to the security world this would be a good primer however it is getting a little long in the tooth and the examples it uses reference outdated platforms, methods, etc. Overall a good book for beginners, but needs a new edition.

Had to read it for class - was a good overview and introduction with some handy hands on exercises, but relatively simplistic.
