It was time to even the score!

Geraint Howell-Williams was sure Lola Hennessy had used her womanly charms to make sure of her inheritance--an exclusive house--by seducing another man, someone she barely knew.

Lola was beautiful, so getting close to her was no hardship, and Geraint had reasons of his own for wanting to find out more about this temptress. Seducing her would be most enjoyable...a very sweet revenge.

I was told off as a child for making up stories—little did I know that one day I’d earn my living by writing them!

To the horror of my parents, I left school at sixteen and held a bewildering variety of jobs: I was a London DJ (in the now-trendy Primrose Hill), a decorator and a singer. After that I became a cook, a photographer and, eventually, a nurse. I waitressed in the south of France, drove an ambulance in Australia, saw lots of beautiful sights but could never settle down. Everywhere I went I felt like a square peg—until one day I started writing again and then everything just fell into place. I felt like Cinderella must have when the glass slipper fit!

Today, I have the best job in the world, writing passionate romances for Harlequin. I like writing stories which are sexy and fast-paced, yet packed full of emotion—stories that readers will identify with, laugh and cry along with.

My interests are many and varied—chocolate and music, fresh flowers and bubble baths, films, cooking and trying to keep my home from looking burglarized! Simple pleasures—you can’t beat them!

I live in Winchester, one of the most stunning cities in the world, but don’t take my word for it—come see for yourself! I regularly visit London and Paris. Oh, and I love hearing from my readers all over the world…so I think it’s over to you!

Re Getting Even - Sharon Kendrick gives us the first book of her Revenge is Sweet mini series with this little story of H driven revenge.

The h in this is in her early twenties and a flight attendant. She recently inherited a huge house in a very exclusive gated community when one of her regular flight travelers left it to her.

The h likes the house, it is full of really nice things and all mod cons. But she was only friendly with the man who left it to her, it wasn't like they were intimate or anything, so the h feels there is a bit of mystery there and she feels a little out of place living in such luxury.

It appears that the h's inherited house is of interest to her new neighbor too. She meets him for the first time when she goes to the Friday night social the gated community throws to help people meet their neighbors every week and the h is kinda overwhelmed by the H's Alpha Manly Force Mojo.

The H seems to be torn between attraction and handing out hints that the h is a harlot trampy tart using her very curvy body for all sorts of lascivious behaviors that make elderly men leave really pricey houses and their contents to her in their wills.

There is a lot of very smart back and forth banter between the H and h as they get to know each other. The H decides to pursue the h and she is holding him off because she is still grooming unicorns and hasn't decided if her passion is worth expressing physcially yet.

SK does some really good conversations about what and what is NOT consent when the H goes into the HP standard gropey roofie kissing routine and the H seems to think that the h telling him 'NO' means she is really saying keep trying and grope harder.

We learn that the orphan H had a very impoverished childhood and that his older sister, a career woman herself, took care of him and sacrificed a lot to give him the start that enabled him to become a big business success.

(The H is ostensibly deciding if he wants to live in the select gated community and is borrowing a friend's place while he looks for a house. The friend who owns the H's house is going to be the H in book three and we meet the h in book two when she comes over to the h's house to introduce herself.)

There is a bit a of sequel baiting throughout the book, but the main focus is on the back and forth and banter between the H and h. Eventually the Lurve Force Mojo overcomes the h's inner moral convictions and Treacherous Body Syndrome strikes.

The H is equally shocked at both the h's former ability to pet to unicorns and her decision to sell off the house and it's pricey contents and donate most of the proceeds to charity.

It isn't until the h realizes that the H knows his way around the h's house better than she does that she thinks to question why and the H's true motives are revealed.

The H's beloved career woman older sister was the lover of the guy who left the h the house and she had been for 15 years.

The H was angry that the dead lover bought his sister a London flat, a lot of art and a ton of jewelry but left his luxury house - the bulk of his estate- to the h, who he thought was some kind of gold digging bimbo.

So the H decided he was going to get some revenge and seduce the h and maybe get her to sign it over to his sister or something instead. (That part is really fuzzy on the plot logic, so just go with it.)

This leads to a big explosion of fury from the h and the H is firmly banished and evicted from the h's house. The h of the next book comes over to ask the h if she can babysit her son in the aftermath of all of this and the h and the plot moppet go outside to have a sulk.

Then the H comes back and breaks the news that the guy who gave the h his house was her biological father. There is a big dramatic revelation from the h's mum that the h was the result of a young infatuation on the mum's part and a little too much champagne one night on her bio father's.

Then the h's mum married the man the h believed was her dad and they had a very nice life, so the mum never told the h the truth - even tho her adopted father was dead and the h was still trying to figure out why she inherited the house.

The H had gone to question the h's mum and basically drag her back to get her help in pimping the h back out to him. So after the big revelation and mum explanation, the H demonstrates his child minding abilities with the book two plot moppet and asks the h to marry him.

The h is madly in love by this point and the H is sincerely sorry for trying to take revenge on the h, he also explains that his big sister had no clue what he was up to and probably would have slapped him silly with a skillet had she found out about it.

The h and H decide to get married and then decide to get busy practicing the stork calls needed for a nine month special delivery, as we leave them lurvin it up for the big, happy HEA.

This one is very funny at parts and the banter is well done. The H's revenge scheme is pretty stupid and really arrogant, cause who is he to decide who the dead guy should have left his house to if his sister was good with things?

But SK needed a way to link her stories, as well as reasons to have a miniseries about revenge, so her seekrit baby who didn't know she was a seekrit is a clever way to start things off and it turned out to be a pretty decent HPlandia outing.

Revenge-lite. Heroine is a voluptuous stewardess who inherits a house in a gated community from a frequent flyer. Hero is convinced heroine slept with the man ( his sister’s boyfriend) and he wants revenge.

Most of the page time is spent on the hero charming, then slut-shaming the heroine until he finally gets her in bed. - Only to discover she’s a virgin. After explaining his motivation for revenge, he leaves the broken-hearted heroine to rue the day she met him.

Meanwhile, the hero finally decides to investigate why the heroine inherited Frequent Flyer’s house. Turns out

Heroine spends time with her neighbor, a super model who dropped out of the public eye to have a secret baby. Her story comes next in the series.

When hero returns with the heroine’s mother and information about Frequent Flyer, all is forgiven for an HEA.

Heroine is what makes this fluffy story enjoyable. She’s really sweet and rightfully suspicious of the hero.

Kind of funny but again immature h or let’s say immature writing. But I liked this banter:
“Isn’t that just like a man?’
‘It is?’
‘Yes, it damn well is! You think you can come out with all kinds of inconsiderate, brutish comments, and then all you need to do is to bat your eyelashes and mumble “I’m sorry” and suddenly that makes everything better! Well, take it from me, Geraint Howell-Williams—it doesn’t!”

I wished she really meant that.(sigh)

This book triggered the weirdest dream last night, well this book, DieHard 2 and Kylie Scott’s book Pause.

I didn’t like the hero of this book, he was a bit too swarmy and smug for me… apparently my visual for him was the villain from DieHard 2 (though my husband was watching the original last night). So I’m dreaming about the crappy hero and a woman in the dream keeps saying ‘we’re putting this relationship on PAUSE’ over and over. I finished Pause the other night—and then I woke up for the day.

I figure any book that can trigger a weird dream deserves at least 3 stars.

As a revenge story it was really mild.
Actually I read it 3 days ago and I'm already struggling to remember it.
The hero meets the heroine at a party and immediately starts courting her, she's a stewardess and they met once before during one of her flights.
He's charming and rich, she's a virgin even if her looks are deceivingly sexy .
The heroine lives in a luxurious house that she received as an inheritance from a man she met during her flights and that became her friend.
Of course the hero thinks they were lovers, and tries to slut-shames her.
After some time and some- actually very little- resistance on her side, they have sex and afterwards he tells her that his sister had a relationship with the man who left her the house for 15 years and he planned to seduce her as a revenge.
The heroine throws him out of her house without listening to any of his explanations but after some time the hero is back with the truth about her benefactor... and he tells her he loves her and that, as soon as he met her, he changed his mind about the revenge plan because he was besotted.
Meh.
Not very angsty, the reason for his revenge was really stupid since his sister never complained about it and was satisfied with her agreement with her lover, so I don't understand what retribution he was looking for ...
And of course it was very clear that he was in love with her and that he had already changed his mind about the revenge plan when they had sex.
An average reading.

Inside the book:

She opened her blue eyes very wide, aware of the first faint flush of sexual excitement which tingles along her cheekbones, finding the way that he was watching her almost unbearably intimate.
