This was one of my favorite books as kid, and at some point it got misplaced or given away or sold accidentally. I’ve been trying to remember the name of the book or the author for over ten years, and finally rediscovered it on Goodreads this week after scouring lists of children’s books about mice and saw a similar book by the same author and something clicked. When I went through her other books, there it was!

Of course I had to immediately buy a used copy, and it arrived today in pristine condition (unlike my extremely worn out and much loved copy from childhood, RIP). How delightful to be reunited again. Just as good as I remember!
