4.5 Still Happy Stars!

I don’t know what it is, but Cochet has created the perfect recipe of hardass, tough guys mixed with a vulnerability and soft side to rival kittens and puppies. I could probably read about this group of yahoos for forever. Soooo good.

Just as great as the first, this excels on the humor and the sexy times!

If you’re a fan, this is obviously a no brainer.

Just like the previous "Thirds beyond the books", I loved this one !!

These little snippets made me laugh so hard !! I love all characters from Thirds and I can't wait the next book to get here.

Thank you Charlie Cochet for giving us some more Dex, Sloane, Ash, Cael, Calvin, Hobbs, Letty, Rosa and ofcourse Tony ;)

I would give this one 5 stars because it made me so happy, but I'm gonna stick with 4,5 because even though this was great, I still like the full story books a bit more !! :D

The dreaded, dreadful "w" verb is still among us. The stress...the stress of the "w" verb assaulting me with its cheesiness and ubiquity...I think my eyes will twitch for days. Please, no one make any loud noises or I will shatter.

The vignettes of between-the-books goodness are lots of fun. One thing I hadn't thought through is that for books one has not yet read, there are spoilers galore. So spoilerphobes are cautioned to be all the way up on the series before picking this volume up.

The author says on her website for the series, THIRDS HQ, she's envisioned the timeline of the stories like a TV series. It really feels like the books are a kind of bible for the urban fantasy series that could come from them. It would be amazing to see this material crafted into episodic shows. Sense8 is a pale, sexless precursor to the horniness and political barbedness of the series.

And while I am a bog-standard guy with boringly predictable responses to good depictions of sex in my reading material...HELL YEAH GET AFTER IT...I am also a keen observer of the political world and that is what, in conjunction with the aforementioned smexy stuff, keeps me reading the series. The absence of homophobia, the uninterested response of one and all to same-sex sexual activity, is to my mind a model of how society should be and could be. Dex and Sloane get hassled for kissing in public because Sloane is a Therian. The language the harrasser uses is identical to what would come out of a homophobe's mouth, but without any gender bias in it. This was jolting in the best possible way: Humans are hate machines and only need to be pointed at a target for their rage, which says zip about the target and lots about the human.

This set of vignettes also includes some very nice Tony Maddock time, an adorable day at the park for Destructive Delta, and a fall-down-laughing funny scene about Lamaze classes. It was a charming companion to some painful hours recovering from yet another migraine, and for that I'm grateful.

But seriously. No. More. Winking.

What a delightful second set of drabbles for this series. I loved getting even more tidbits of all the couples day to day lives, the domestic things we don't get to see enough during all the action of the main books. Many wonderful couple drabbles and family bonding drabbles and hilarious drabbles and some serious ones and I just loved them. Now onto Seb and Hudson's story! :D

Another set of fabulous drabbles written by Charlie from reader prompts.

This is such a brilliant way to get behind the scenes snippets and more background information on all the THIRDS guys and associated friends and family.

First off, I want to begin by saying that if you haven’t read the THIRDS series and you’re a M/M fan, then you’re really missing out on some amazing characters and stories. This particular book is a little bit different to what you’ll normally see because it isn’t really an anthology or a collection of stories. Here readers give the author some story prompts about the series or character and Charlie Cochet writes short bits and pieces about the boys. I would call this a slice of life type thing because they’re not well-bodied stories or anything like that, just glimpses into their lives. Most are funny, some are touching, all of them are worth the read.

However, if you haven’t read the full length books yet, then don’t read this book. You’ll find yourself extremely lost because a lot of this tidbits are out of context. I would highly suggest reading them after you’ve read all the books because this is a great treat for fans.

Obviously my favorite ones in this book are the ones involving all the characters. I especially love the ones that have Ash and Dex together because they are just so entertaining to read about. But Cochet also writes about Seb so that will be nice for readers who are waiting for the next book in the series. I love these little stories and I hope Charlie Cochet continues to write them!

Oh how I love THIRDS guys and all the shenanigans they get up to! This volume featured stories and moments that were mentioned here and there throughout the entire series from different POVs and angles. A couple of them can even be considered slight spoilers if one haven't read the last book in the series. While I read this volume I experienced a gamut of emotions from snorting my drink through my nose and laughing so hard to nearly being in tears. Wonderful collection of moments that show all the guys and ladies of THIRDS in the field and during their downtime. Some of the stories were longer than others, but all of them were very written with heart and proved to me why I love this series and all the characters within it. I hope there are more volumes to come. Copy received for my honest and unbiased review

Loved this set of short vignettes even more than volume one.

Such cute stories that really give a great glimpse into the lives the members of Destructive Delta are making...especially Sloane and Dex (who, I'm unashamed to say are still my absolute favorites).

I <3 Dex!

Read Volumes 1 and 2 together and reviewed as one at Sinfully June 2016.

A must for any THIRDS fan! If you follow Charlie Cochet on social media you probably already know about THIRDS Thursdays where readers submit prompts for a flash fiction story they would like to see. Depending on when the story was written, some has been covered in subsequent books, but here you’ll find a collection of some of these shorts ranging from alternate points of view and bonus scenes, to childhood flashbacks. All the main characters are represented, but there are also looks at Austen and Zach, Lou and Bradley and Gabe. So grab your gummy bears, put on that Def Leppard album and dive in!

From first kisses and meetings to first shifts, the stories range from fun (Maddock having “the talk” with Dex including video) to those that will tug at your heart (Dex freaking when Cael has to get his Therian tattoo). I’m a sucker for the stories revolving around the men as children and I loved getting a peek into the early days of Seb and Hudson’s tragic romance, as well as seeing Gabe interact with his team. I guarantee any THIRDS fan will find something new and interesting in this book. You’ll also probably leave with a better understanding of your favorite characters.

I would not start here if you haven’t at least read the first book in the THIRDS series, but this is a wonderful companion to the series. The stories are brief and headlined with the prompt it was written for, allowing you to pick and choose among favorite characters if you wish, or just pick and choose depending on your mood. Since the prompts were reader requests, you’ll probably find something you yourself have wondered about while reading the THIRDS books.

It’s a perfect read to get you by as you wait for the next book. If that’s not enough to entice you, all royalties from this book will be donated to the Big Cat Rescue (http://bigcatrescue.org).

I am a Thirds enthusiast. I love. love. LOVE this wonderful universe that Charlie Cochet created! These characters, especially Dex, pull at my heartstrings. I know I'm guaranteed an amazing adventure whenever I read a Thirds book. These little behind the scenes snippets are icing on the cake! I get to revisit and reimagine memorable scenes from various Thirds books :)

Btw, how awesome of Cochet, to use the prompt from fans as the creative inspiration for the snippets in this volume?
Thank you for expressing your appreciation in such a generous and thoughtful way!

For my fellow Thirds Nerds, I just wanted to share with you, my favorite picks.
Van scene from Hobb's point of View. It's sizzling hot!
Can We Get Territorial Dex I couldn't stop laughing
Lou and Bradley's First Date So sweet!
Dex and Sloan doing groceries You can imagine how that adventure went :)

All the stories are great little gems. I think every Thirds fanboy and fangirl should add this to their collection. It's an absolutely wonderful read that every Thirds lover will appreciate.

Happy reading!

Whew! I am still laughing!! These guys lol me with their antics. I don't know how CC does it, but she has such an imagination and BIG creative talent. I could read these shirts so day! What's really cool is these are all from prompts from fans, and there are a lot, of fans and prompts, lol. I think CC must have already mentally played out some of these scenes to progress the actual books forward. Now we just get to see those in between times. A whole volume should be dedicated to baby therians playing and frolicking, and get there internal dialogue. OMG, the last story with Sloane in his therian form.running around at 2am, it's priceless. Add in getting his thougjts, just boom! 🤯

I HIGHLY recommend this volume. And so glad I was able to read it again. My library no longer has a copy. 4.5 stars.

This was another cute collection. I thought volume 1 stories were funnier but volume 2 was still fun. 😁 Some of these scenes I definitely wish were longer. 😉

I’ve said it before and I will say it again: THIRDS Beyond the Books is a Grade A, first rate collection of awesome fan service. Charlie Cochet expanded her beloved characters from the THIRDS series at the fans’ behest, online first and then in Volume One, and it was fantastic. Volume Two is no exception.

This is the second set of THIRDS Thursday stories, and there are more to come. To date, the author is also continuing to write more as she continues the main series, and a second series involving Dex, Sloane and the TIN is forthcoming.

These stories were all once posted online, on Charlie Cochet’s website, but have now been gathered in two volumes for the fans’ enjoyment, not to mention the proceeds going to a wonderful cause.

If you’ve not read the main series books, I strongly suggest you bring up Dreamspinner’s site and grab the series before starting this book. The story prompts are from each book out so far, so there are spoilers for the entire series in these companion books.

The second volume contains more of the core group, mostly Dex and Sloane, but the others also make an appearance. The author also expands to include Lou and Bradley, and more of Hudson and Seb. I still have a preference for Ash and Cael, collectively called Cash by the fans, but I really enjoyed seeing all the side pieces bring the storylines in tighter. I hadn’t realized just how many clues there were to tying all the novels in together, but after a recent re-read of all the main books and these two extras, much of what I thought I had missed was right in front of me. I am ready and waiting for the next book and series involving this wonderfully detailed and exciting -verse by Charlie Cochet.

Thank you, thank you, Ms. Cochet for sharing your time and talent, and for indulging the whims of your fans. It’s been an awesome experience.

If you love THIRDS, then donate to the worthy cause and own these wonderful additions to the series.

It's always a joy reading about these group of characters. I really like the anthology idea and to read about certain events that have happened over the course of the series. Of course it wouldn't be me without Sloan and Ethan. Those are my favorite two, and I didn't get enough Ethan. I honestly think she can write more and I'd never this it was enough of these two.

I would like more Tony though. I always want to see that relationship between him and his sons grow. This is no different then the first anthology we got to see some smut, some hilarious hi-jinks, some sweet Ethan moments and the rest of cast and crew. Some of these were really good! I did like seeing them all together harmoniously. I'm at a lost once again how to review this. I don't want to spoil it by naming my favorite prompts, but I do think it's a little bit of everything in here for many of our favorite couples.

As always I'm looking forward to more in this series. I am team Sloane all the way, but I would really appreciate if him and Dex took a major backseat in the next couple of books. I feel like they've been the focal point so long that even when it's not their books they continue to steal other couples thunder. (**cough Ethan & Calvin cough**) I do recommend this to all Thirds fans. I think it's always good to see what our favorite shifters & humans are up to while we are away!

THIRDS Beyond the Books: Volume 2 is the second collection of short stories set in and around the Destructive Delta team in Charlie Cochet's THIRDS universe, so warning: here be spoilers! I wouldn't read this book if you haven't read up to and including Smoke and Mirrors as there are references to major plot arcs.

As with the first volume, these are scenes developed from fan prompts on the author's website and each is a snapshot where we can learn a bit more about the characters outside of the main books. Each vignette features a key moment in one or several of the team's life (favourites for me include Sloane and Ash's first Christmas together as kids and Seb and Hudson's first date), or just a really funny incident (Hobbs in the ball pit and Dex in the haunted house, oh an anything where Ash is mad at Dex!!).

I love these extra glimpses into the guys' lives - they're so much fun for fans of the THIRDS series. 5*

While most of the short stories in Volume 1 revolved around Dex and those closest to him, this volume includes quite a few more moments from everyone just barely outside that small circle. Not that members of his team aren't in that circle, it's just that Letty, Rosa, Rafe, Wolf, etc. are a little less present. My favorite stories are absolutely the paintball decimation and the haunted house of awesomely ridiculous. After reading this I dove right back into the series from the beginning and I have to say that my enjoyment of the full series is actually more full and rich having all these additions.

If you are familiar with The Thirds Series, you will already know about Thirds Thursday, which I can't wait to get in my inbox every week, where Ms. Cochet expands certain scenes thru prompts from fans of this series. This volume is a collection of those snippets. Volume 1 had prompts 1-25 while this volume has prompts 26-44 with a special Valentine's Date. Some have been previously featured on the weekly Thirds' Thursday. One, in particular, being poker night that turns into a game of Truth or Dare with Dex & Ash. Some will leave you laughing, some will leave you with tears but, all in all, I love how this author gives the reader a chance to bring an extended version to each story.

Prompts include Dex & Sloane grocery shopping, a Valentine's Day with Ethan & Calvin, Seb & Hudson (their story is next in the series), sexy times with Cael & Ash and many more adventures with the Destructive Delta crew.

These snippets are a unique way for us, the reader, to get more insight into our favorite Thirds characters.

If you’re fans of the series, you’ve probably read these on Charlie’s blog or on Facebook. If you haven’t they are all written assuming you’ve been following along in the series – there might be some considered spoilery in here so beware! In any case, they’re all here, easily accessible and the royalties go to an awesome charity!

I loved the Calvin and Hobbs parts and the jealous Sloane/Dex parts the best. Hobbs is sooooo sweet and seeing him all worked up when Calvin is working the case…HOT! The bathtub scene is also wonderful, too.

Probably my favorite though is when Sloane is at the doctor’s office and he gets jealous over Dex and they end up having sex in the garage! WOWZA! Scorching hot.

This is just plain fun and a convenient way to have all the stories we love from this amazing series in one spot!
