A year has passed since seven-teen-year-old Ariel Sullivan suffered the deaths of two of the most important people in her lives. As she grapples with discovering what role she plays in the coming Armageddon, a new love enters her life. One with the power to change her very soul.

As Ariel tries to move on from the death filled day that changed the course of her existence, she finds that letting go of the past is not something that is easily done. That the future has a tendency of bringing back the past that was thought to be buried long ago. That fate has a tendency to take you back to a place you thought you could never go again.

I just finished Angelic and like you I was crying, but the excerpt for 'Torn' gave me hope so I googled the author and found a FB update from L.P Swalheim dated 27th December 2013:

"Thanks to all the fans of Angelic. I know many of you are anxiously awaiting the release of Torn, the second installment of the Angelic series. I am doing my best to get the second book finished so that it can be published online. I promise you I am working hard to get Torn ready and I can only hope the wait is worth it."

'Torn' Review

We waited a long time to carry on Liam and Ariels story, and it didn't disappoint, although I have to say it's a very long complicated story. With lots of twists and turns, heartbreak, mistrust, and an amazing battle. I'm not going into detail about the story as I wouldn't even know how to describe it. The story kicks in after the devastating events in the first book, I have to say as an avid romantic I was waiting with bated breath for Liam's resurrection which I knew was coming based on the sneak peek I'd read, the reunion didn't disappoint but it took a long time to get there. The story and plot are very in depth, so get ready to get into the story, the characters are once again great, lots of grammatical errors, but nothing too devastating. Overall I enjoyed the read but it did take me some time to read.

Some things are worth the wait. I'm not going to lie here....it has been a while since I read angelic and I did not want to re-read it. I was hopeful I'd pick up right where it left off and remember most of the details. I should have re-read it. I was lost for the first 3 chapters of this book until everything started to come back to me. I am VERY hopeful that the 3rd book in this series won't take as long to release because I guarantee I'll be lost again.

Where to start? Ariels character has evolved so much more with her training with Peter. She is much stronger then she gives herself credit for. It will be interesting to see what exactly she is. I wish the author would have touched more on the oracles in this 2nd book. I think all of who read it saw it coming....we had to know she'd end up with jackson for a little bit. I really enjoyed Jackson's character and I honestly think she should end up with him. He loves her and though she loves Liam...in this 2nd book..the chemestry just wasn't there for her and Liam. The times they were together almost seemed forced up until the very end.

I also wish there was a little more written about the "deal maker" especially since he made an appearance in the beginning w/ the creation of the wolf and vampire. Lots of questions and not so many answers. This is a book that was a little bit confusing at times because of all the questions and so few answers. Lots of suspense and the action scenes were portrayed very well.

I'm so disappointed in myself. It took me so long to finish Torn, the second installment in the Angelic Series. It had nothing to do with the story because damn if it isn't worth more than the $0.99 I paid for it and damn near every year, every minute, and every second of waiting. It was simply I didn't want it to end because then I would have to wait on the third installment. It was way better than I envisioned it would be but L.P. Swalhiem has a way with his writing just amazing. This is 100% a five star read. I wish I could give a full length review on Torn but it would spoil everything. There's just to many twist and turns with the plot to even attempt. Phenomenal job yet again L.P. Swalhiem can't wait for Afterglow the third installment to the Angelic series.

Finally!!!!! Worth the wait!!

I read the first book a long long time ago and I have been waiting for a long time for this one to come out. I was not disappointed! I love this book!!! I cannot wait for the next one to come out. Hopefully it won't take as long. There were a few grammatical errors but nothing that really bothered me. I am just happy the book finally came out! I am following on Facebook awaiting the next book!

Love story....

After patiently waiting for this 2nd book to come out , I read it it in 2 days! A story that not only demonstrates an unwaivering love between two people and their families, but also a story of self discovery . L.P. did not disappoint with the continuation of Ariel and Liam's stories. He also introduced more pieces to the very jagged puzzle in their world. This book was worth the wait! I can't wait to see what he has in store for us next!

VAST IMPROVEMENT!

The second installment in this series has improved so much from the first. I am glad that I pushed myself through the first book. So why only 3 stars? I will get to it!

Things I liked: I like the character progression and the building of the relationships between the characters. The action in this book was much better and didn't have such an abrupt end. The author seemed to set up better for the next book.

Things I didn't like: There are still many word usage/ grammatical errors, again with editing I think could probably fix the problem. I did not like the way the story jumped back and forth from past to present without any differentiation from the two. There were also still some descriptions that were lengthy and not value-add.

Again with editing, I really think this could be a great book rather than just a good book. Again VAST improvement from the first book but still needs work.

Perfect Title

Team Liam or Team Jackson.. I genuinely could not choose. I absolutely love them both. Ariel has so much going on in her life and these two amazing men compliment her and help her be so much more. When I read I submerge myself in the work. And, Torn made that easy to do. As Angelic kept me on my toes emotionally so did Torn. I laughed and I cried and both out loud.. But, as I wait for the next book in the series I'll read them both again just to feel. Because that's what Swalheim did, he made me feel. And, can you really ask for more in an author. Five stars and every one deserved!

Even though I still wasn't thrilled about the writing style the author decided with, but I did absolutely fall in love with the story. My Angelic Series addiction is real and I really hope the next edition becomes available and ready for me to purchase immediately! I am nervous because I noticed the first book was published in 2012, Torn was released in 2016, and so far there are no signs of the last book anywhere in sight!.. and I know, I looked! Please L.P Swalheim, I need to find out and read what happens to Ariel, Liam, Lane, Blake, the upcoming apocalypse, and well everything else...I would also like to know if Jackson meets someone to make him happy.

Can't wait for the 3rd book in this series!!

The story line in this series is great! I couldn't put the books down.. however the flow of the story was constantly interrupted by misspelled words, words added that didn't belong and other mistakes. More time needs to be put into editing please!! The story line and wonderful characters saved these books for me. I will definitely be reading the next book as soon as it's released! I can't wait to see how this ends!

I’m Hooked

I love this series so much.. I really can’t wait for the next book to come out.. I am hoping that Liam and Ariel make it through all these trials and still end up together, because I have a bad feeling that Ariel is going to leave Liam after reading the end of book two.. I just hope I wrong..

3 1/2 Stars...

Torn is how I feel about this review so please bear with me. I found the first book in this series shortly after it was published. I read the book and loved it. About a year ago I gave up on the second book in the series ever being published but then, by accident, a couple of weeks ago I came across Torn and I was thrilled. It took me a bit to remember everything that went down in the last book as it had been so long ago (almost four years) that I had read Angelic. Long story short I ultimately enjoyed the story line and this is where I'm torn so let me first tell you what I liked about Torn.

My likes:
1. Ariel and Liam together again. Their story has the potential to be an epic love.
2. There is a uniqueness to the story line in regards to the guardians, reapers, and re-vamps.
3. The overall plot and the prophecies have been very well thought out.
4. The further into the book I got, the more into the story line I became. There is a really big build up leading to a fairly epic battle scene. Along with some wicked revelations.

So why 3 1/2 stars? Here it is:
1. I struggled in the beginning of the story line due to Ariel's relationship with Jackson. As sweet and wonderful as he was I felt as if Ariel would not have been able to so quickly move into another relationship so soon. It tarnished the affinity bond that she had with Liam. That is my personal opinion.
2. Although there is a lot of attention to to detail as to the overall plot of the story, there seem to be minor details that were missing or not well thought out.
3. Often times I became confused as to where I was in the timeline of the book. The flashbacks would appear out of no where and as a reader I was left wonder what I had missed, only to realize that Ariel was no longer in the present but flashing back.
4. Editing. Here I stuggle on dinging a self published author on editing. Being a self published author myself, I understand that editing can be costly. I probably would not have picked up on a lot of the missing words and typos if I had not been listening via my Kindle's text to speech option due to the fact that I'm a fast reader and when I'm reading and not listening I tend to skip over words or fill them in on my own. Overall, the editing issues did not distract from the story line at all but I feel the need to mention them.

Ultimately, I enjoyed Torn. Will I look for Afterglow? Yes. I think this young author has real potential and that is why I was torn in writing this review. It was more than okay and I did like it but in the end I feel that my rating and review are an honest and fair representation of my thoughts once I completed Torn.

I was beyond thrilled when I first saw that "Torn" was available. I had read "Angelic" when it was first released and fell in love with the story. Before I started reading "Torn" I did read "Angelic" again to refresh my mind and read the books back to back. The author has captivated me with the world he has created. The characters have depth that bring the story to life. I love all of the unique things we are learning about Ariel. Yes, her heart is lost with what happened to Liam in the first book. I feel as if I see her life through her eyes, I feel her pain, her fear, joy,her qualms. She is a multi faceted character that I adore. I don't want to spoil anything for future readers, so I will limit what I say. I feel that L.P. Swalheim's writing has proved that he has grown in his skill. I'm not a critic by any means. In "Torn" Ariel's world and life, along with The Guardians, vampires & werewolves is unique and can't be compared to anything I've read before. I had to read the book as fast as I could, within 2 days I was finished and eager to read it all over again. It's very fast paced and I couldn't wait to get to the next page or chapter, especially toward the end of the book.I love the intricate ways that Ariel has discovered new things about her mother, herself and what she is capable of. The relationships between all of the supernatural characters (the good ones) are exactly what I think of as family and Ariel fits in with them all. Every time she finds something new pertaining to who she is, her mother, grandfather, The Prophecies are all pieces of a puzzle that is frustrating for Thomas as well as Ariel but she is putting the pieces together. There's talk between characters about God, The Prophecies, The Guardian Angels, The Reaper Angels and even possible scenario's as to how the vampires & werewolves came into creation. I enjoy the author's take on the religious aspects of the story. It's not a book about religion though, just theories and things The Guardian Angels know as well as somethings that are discovered in the book. It is a beautiful story that will have you wanting to read it again & again~ I look forward to "Afterglow"

Decent premise in search of an editor

The author send to have thought out the broad strokes of the plot, but detail is sometimes lacking. The first third wanders back and forth through time with little to no indication to the reader of what is present and what is past. The book desperately needed a read through by a friend good at grammar. She never used the correct "you're" in the book. Many homonym substitutions, incorrect character names, etc. These detracted from the novel to make it 2.5 stars.
The plot could have used an editor to tighten it up some as well.

Worth the wait

I chose this rating because it was hard to put the book down. I can't wait for the third installment.
I like a book that can make you feel the emotions of the characters and get caught up in the plot where you have to read on and can't put the book down. This book does that

I fell in love with this series. I can't wait for the 3rd book. The detail in the books is so good, it puts you (the reader) right there with them. I gave a 4 because of some of the errors, I had to reread those parts to understand the sentence. This was nothing big though just forgotten or misplaced words. Waiting now for the 3rd book.

Yes I was like everyone else. I read Angelic and was hooked but couldn't find Torn or author! Panic I have to know what happened. What we forget is, as readers we spend our free time reading, some writers spend their free time writing. Keep stalking them NICELY. We do get rewarded. Thanks for Torn.

Was worth the wait

I just finished Torn, wow! It kept me totally engrossed. I was sad that it ended when it did. I did have a problem with all the typos I guess that is to expected with just doing spell check and not really reading the entirety. Needless to say can't wait for Afterglow & hopefully won't have to wait as long as we did for Torn. I give a definite 5 stars.
