When vampire Kristair binds his heart and soul to a human vessel in an ancient ritual, he never expects to fall in love with Jacob Corvin as well. As The Syndicate moves in to discover the secrets Kristair hold, the bonded pair will discover that not even death can separate them. Unfortunately, it won’t stop their enemies from coming after them, either.
Marguerite has been accused of being eccentric and a shade neurotic, both of which she freely admits to, but her muse has OCD tendencies, so who can blame her? Her husband and son do an excellent job keeping her toeing the line, though. Together with her co-author Fae Sutherland, Marguerite has found a shared passion for beautiful men with smart mouths.
When she's not working hard on writing new material and editing completed work, she spends her time reading novels of all genres, enjoying role-playing games with her equally nutty friends, and trying to plot practical jokes against her son and husband. Her son is learning the tricks too quickly and likes to retaliate. You'd think she'd learn.
Book & Author: Triquetra by Marguerite Labbe Rating: 4.5 Stars
I am sure I’ve mentioned before that I love vampire stories add in a new take on the old story and I am sold. That is what Marguerite Labbe was able to do here. She created a vampire story that any lover of the paranormal will love. And she gave to us all in this Triquetra bundle. Who could ask for more?
She took the normal vampire story and made it her own by giving us gifted older (ascended) vampires that were slowly disappearing from the world through mysterious ways, the Syndicate which was a devious group who are after the last Ancient One, Kristair, for unknown reasons, and a love story between a hothead dominate young college football player and an old powerful submissive-ish vampire.
The dynamic between these two was definitely different than most other vampire stories. The human in this story is much more possessive and dominant than the very powerful vampire but it was a switch that both intrigued and endeared me to them as a couple. The stories are written in alternating first person POV. Since it was split by chapter there was no confusion on my part reading or concern I couldn’t tell who was speaking due to the fact that each one of these was so different from the other there was no comparison.
These stories are full of anything one reader could ask for! It’s full of mystery and suspense, danger and sex (oh my hot sex!), Love and hate, sadness and heartbreak. Jake and his friends were an important part of this story because his friends are like family to him, they live together, party together, but when Jake starts sneaking around with Kristair, and through the danger that the couple is in, his friends get severely hurt, Jake starts to question his relationship with the vampire.
What I liked most and also wished there was a little less of in book one was the battle that Jake went through in accepting Kristair and trusting that they were for each other and that he could trust Kristair. This is completely a personal point of view and it didn’t take away from the story so much but, as it should, it became such a focus that I think some of the other important emotions at play at the time got a little drowned out. I also wish that the beginning of book one where Kristair was “stalking” Jake would’ve been “shown” more instead of “told” I think it would’ve given a great depth and understanding to the quick development of their relationship.
I loved Kayla in this, Kristair’s “daughter”, because of the emotional changes that she goes through from the start to the end of the series. There were many characters who made appearances which kept me guessing on who was a good guy and who was a bad guy, which I freaking LOVE in books with the mystery element. And the ripple effect, where one action affects things the characters never thought it would, was intriguing to read and kept me on my toes.
So if you love a new take on vampire’s with a great storyline that will make you mad, happy, sad, and laugh this series is definitely one you want to pick up!
This book completely blew me away. It was so different then what I was expecting but it was in a good way. I have never read a book by Marguerite Labbe before and I think I definitely started out right by reading this bundle.
These bundle set of Triquetra has everything that any reader of paranormal could possibly ask for. It has vampires. It has a group that is close to kings and queens (the ascended). It has mystery and suspense. It has death and destruction. It has love and hate. Above all else it has pain, heartache, and forgiveness. Oh and I cannot forget the unbelievablely steamy, hot, sex scenes.
Kristair is an extremely old vampire that has lived well over two hundreds years. In all that time he has done everything he can to adapt to the changing times and to learn as much as he possibly can either by experience or from books. Things have not been going good for Kristair as of late because he is starting to follow the path that his vampire creator followed and he is beginning to question if he is losing his mind.
Kristair has only one thing that he can come up with to give him more time to be able to find the answers that he is seeking to be able to not vanish or go insane. His theory is to find a vessel for his heart and bond with the person. He hopes that this will give him the time he so desperately wants.
Upon seeing Jacob for the first time he knees this is the person he wants to bond with. The thing is he did not realize that Jacob would be so much more then just his bond,he would be his soul mate and one and only true love.
Once these two men finally get together it sets in motion many events that neither have control over. They go through so many ups and downs. So much pain and heartache. So much life and death. Just when I thought things would finally work out for them and they would finally get their happily ever after something else would happen.
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster almost from the beginning. I found my self laughing, crying my eyes out, getting angry, and even sad. This was a very well put together and though out series and I was just completely blown away by it. It was truly an incredible read and I will definitely recommend it to others.
