Alyssa’s father controlled her life. He selected her career. He arranged her marriage and when he fiancée cheated he demanded she still get married because it would be beneficial to their families’ business.

Alyssa took a lot but she finally realized that this is not a life she wanted to live so she ran…to the only person she could trust…her brother, Ty.

After years of military service Ty has settled down with a new family, a motor cycle club. Not knowing Alyssa, aka Allie, was coming, Ty is taken and the club are taken by surprise with Alyssa’s arrival. When her first encounter with a few club members proves to be less than stellar, Ty pronounces Allie is off limits. Which makes things really difficult since there is an immediate attraction between Allie and his MC brother Jace, (aka Trig).

You might find this surprising from a MC based read, but the romance was quite sweet. Although Trig has the tough as nails retired military sniper, biker and uber alpha rep, he is cares deeply and is highly protective.

An Amazing read, J.L. Sheppard truly captures the essence of a marvelously strong MC romance. While she still manages to keep the characters relatable, creating that desired reader connection to the tale.

I received this copy of Running Wild from J. L. Sheppard in exchange for a honest review.

I always get a little thrill of excitement when introduced to a new to me MC series. I love the grit that comes with a good biker love story. Running Wild is the first book in the Hell Ryders MC. It’s what we call biker lite, which means it’s not as edgy as some biker books. There are bikers and they do behave like bikers, but it’s missing the violence and mayhem that comes so often in this genre.

Allie is on the run from her old life. She was controlled by her father and pushed into a career she didn’t like and a relationship with a man who ended up cheating on her. She finally had enough and packed her bags and headed to Santa Rosa and her brother, Tyler.

I liked Allie. She wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed and she cried at the drop of a hat, which I have to admit annoyed me a bit. But she had a sweetness about her and was extremely likable which made up for her lack of brain power.

Jace is best friends with Allie’s brother Ty, they even joined the Hell Ryders together. He was hit with insta-love the minute he laid eyes on Allie, which was right as she was declared off limits to the club brothers. This led to a whole lot of wishy-washy back and forth and a serious case of failure to communicate.

Jace was loyal and determined, which I liked about him. He had some demons which he’d mostly vanquished, but they did fuel a raging case of “I’m-not-good-enough-for-her-itis. I really wanted him to go after what he wanted a lot quicker than he did. Yes, things took awhile to heat up, but once they did, these two were sexy together.

The other members of the Hell Ryders are who really caught my attention. They were interesting and made me want to know more about them. There were several obvious setups for future books which, for me at least, took away from time better spent with the main couple. What I’m really hoping for in future books is actually getting to know the club as a whole. They’ve gone clean, sort of, but have some guard duty jobs that seem to be squarely in the gray areas of the law. I am damned curious about what exactly they do and I want details.

My overall impression was that Running Wild suffered from first-in-series-itis with some secondary infections like the aforementioned I’m-not-good-enough-for-her-itis and the overall failure to communicate. Any of these issues can be the downfall of a good read for me. Fortunately, there was enough good stuff to be had it overrode the bad and I ended up enjoying my time spent with the Hell Ryders and look forward to reading the next one.

Rating: 3.5 It’s all about the good stuff Stars

I'm always excited to try out a new to me MC series. They're my catnip, I just love the MC world, especially when it's more character driven as this one is.

A heroine that wants out from under the thumb of her controlling father and dickhead ex boyfriend, she runs to her brother who is in an MC.

There she meets the hero and epic bossy protectiveness ensues thereafter as they all rally to protect her.

I really liked it. And look forward to reading the next in the series.

I want to give this 5 stars soooooo badly but I just can't. The characters are fantastic! The plot a bit predictable but deliciously so and the sexual tension off the charts! I just loved reading this! Really and truly I did.
Why I can't give 5 stars is because it needed a few more drafts. Over used phrases, oddly worded phrases that jarred and spun me out of the moment. A few more passes by an editor would fix that, and shape it into something truly magnificent! In addition to that, the audio version was bad due to the narration.
That being said... I'm absolutely hooked on this unconventional, but addictive "family".
Jace is my favorite type of hero... Broody, hot tempered, alpha male but so soft and sweet with Allie
Allie hooked me from the start. Girl has my name, same color hair, exact same color eyes. I didn't live through what she did, but I felt connected to her in a kindred spirit kind of way that as etched her on my heart forever.
Can't wait to read how Cuss and Tiff come together!!!

“‘You deserve so much more than life handed you, Allie, so fuckin’ much more.’ His voice ragged and yet tender.

4 wild stars!! Suspenseful and addicting!

I love a good MC book, so when this popped up on my kindle, I had to give it a shot!! I’m so glad I did, this book definitely didn’t disappoint! Alyssa has a dark past and a terrible track record regarding relationships, so she runs straight to her brother. Not knowing that her brother is in a motorcycle club, full of scary bikers. And while these guys should scare her off, she’s instantly drawn to Jace. Jace is out of the military and falls into the Hell Ryder’s MC, a place where he feels he fits in. The minute he sees Alyssa he knows she’s full of promise and a better life for him. The problem?? She’s the sister of one of his club brothers, which means she’s off limits…. But one night they kiss and now all bets are off!!

Yes, this is another MC story, but there’s so much more to this book than other MC stories!! The story is exciting and heartfelt. You’re going to feel for Alyssa and her past and then you’ll fall hard for Jace the minute he walks into the book!! It’s exciting and hard to put down, and I loved every single second of it!

What A First Ride!

Running Wild is #01 in the Hell Ryders MC Series by J.L. Sheppard.
Ken Solin narrates.

HEA with No cliffhangers!

This is the first in series so can be read at anytime. But as always, I suggest reading in order once you start this series.

Length: 9 hrs and 58 mins

Content Advisory:
There is sex, dirty talk, and cussing. Yum!

Motorcycles + Hot Alpha Males = A Smexy Good Time!

Running Wild is the first in this MC Romance series. It does a good job at setting the ground work for the players and their world without distracting from plot. It centers around Jace and Allie, but by the end you know all the characters you want to see get a HEA, as well as the ones you want to punch in the throat. All done without slowing you down or making you forget what you were actually reading about.

Jace “Trigger” Warren is our first biker bad boy up to bat. He has a lot of heart despite his gruff exterior. He is attracted to the heroine from the moment he sees her, but has to hold back because his war buddy Ty puts the "Do Not Touch" stamp on her right off the bat. Of course this doesn't ultimately stop him, but it does make it hella complicated. I like the character but he mentioned being trailer trash way too much to the point it became cringe worthy. 3 times spaced out would of gotten the point across fine. I do love that he is not afraid to speak up and tell it like it is, especially to Lilliam. I hated that psycho.

Alyssa “Allie” Holden is our self conscience heroine. It's to the point I wanted to smack her by the end. She manages to pull herself out of a F'd up situation to escape to the safety of her brother Ty. Not to mention this chick has a masters degree from an Ivy League school. The girl is smart and has got some balls, but she just doesn't realize it. Lucky for her Jace doesn't let her hide from it! She bucks the system in her determination to not have anyone control her life, but finds out the hard way why the secret service do what they do. I'm hoping in the future books we will see more growth in her character.

Overall this is a great start to a new series. I look forward to the bikers that are yet to come. I really want to hear Ty's book. That boy is so clueless! I think he has a thing for Tina. He so wants to be her baby daddy in more than just the obvious ways! It would also be poetic turn-about. She is Jace's little sister! There are currently 2 more Hell Ryders stories out in audio, Cuss and Ripper.

This is my first listen by J.L. Sheppard. The characters are real and memorable. I want more! I plan to listen to the rest of the series as soon as I can get my hands on them.

This is my first listen by Ken Solin. He does a good job with the various characters. His pauses could use some polish but overall it works.

Normal speed was fine.
There were some random background noises from time to time but in short spurts.

4 Solid Stars SPOILERS AHEAD

OK, where to start. I really liked this a lot and it seems to be a great start to what appears to be a great series in the making. Now with that being said, for me, and this isn't the first book that makes me feel this but for me there is just too much inner/descriptive dialogue..... I WANT actual dialogue and yes, I understand that it explains everything incl back ground stories, etc but sometimes I just get too anxious, lol. When it takes forever for my couple to get anything going, well, it grates on my nerves. Now, in this case, it wasn't that bad but enough that I found myself at the beginning wanting to just "get into the actual romance storyline" if that makes sense.

I loved Jace and Allie but yet it also got on my nerves the constant "miscommunication" or rather the perceiving something for what it wasn't, etc.....arghhhhhh, yeah they both annoyed me at times but I still truly loved them! There was too much "insecurity" on both of their parts and yes, I get it but I felt it was overplayed of that makes sense.

One other minor issue I hate is when an author makes a heroine is too loved, lol, and I mean when she is soooooo perfect and everyone under the sun wants her, loves, thinks she is near perfect, etc. Don't get me wrong I loved her but the overly gushing by everyone else was too OTT for me at times.

I cannot wait to read about the rest of the club members because I really liked them all and they all had me curious as to what will be in store for them!!!!

All in all a good read and yes, I will continue with this series for sure:)

I'm a huge fan of MC romances and this novel doesn't disappoint! I was enthralled from the first moment with Allie. She's a strong lead female character that comes like a hurricane into her brothers motorcycle club garage. She's brave when she back talks the bada$$ bikers and she loves fierce. Jace, her brothers best friend is a serious caveman though. Half of the time Allie thinks he is angry and tries to avoid him and the other half she is so completely drawn to his ruggedness that she can't look away. It's definitely a compelling chemistry that heats up the pages before they even get together. The storyline is stronger as the climax builds and Allie's ex- fiancée is getting brave with his threats. It's an amazing start to the series!

What's the worst thing about this book? Having to put it down! The moment J.L. introduces Trig, you fall in love with him the same way Allie does. The fire, connection, and passion between these two is undeniable and you sure as hell feel it! It’s a beautiful love story that arises from her facing the hardest decision ever, to leave everything she has known behind. Shortly thereafter, she finds everything she has ever wanted and more. Trig will forever be one of my favorite characters, he's the definition of a perfect man: an alpha, tough, protective, bad ass biker, yet caring, sweet, passionate, and compassionate... have I mention how amazing the sex scenes were? I've always had a love for MCs after SOA so reading an MC Romance was pure bliss to me. I easily rate this book 5 stars, 10 if I could. So sad that it’s over, definitely have a book hangover!

Hope there is more coming soon! :D

I have found me a new MC author!! Loved J.L. Sheppards book and can see myself reading many more from her in the future. She draws you in from the first page and keeps you captivated all the way through. Although this is an MC book and has MC business it covers more on the love story and connection between Allie and Jace.

Allie has been controlled by her father all her life from what to wear, what school to go to, what to study and degree to get. As well as where she would work after obtaining that degree and basically arranging a marriage for her to benefit the family business. But Allie finally realized that is not the life she wanted so she ran to the one person who has always had her back.. Ty, her brother.

After going to her brother Ty announces that Allie is off limits to all club members. But that doesn't stop Jace or the feelings that are brewing inside of him and Allie.

What happens when they give into their feelings? Can Ty accept them being together..

I gave this book 4 stars!

This was a really good book. I love how the author draws the reader in and hold your attention. This book isn't like other MC books I have read. Yes, there is Club business but it's more of a love story than a MC book. The Club does protect Allie because she is Army's sister and they deal with some issues that arise, but it more about Allie and Trig. The two from the start have a chemistry but Trig can't show his feeling because she OFF LIMITS! When Trig get assigned to watch her for a week, he knows it be the hardest thing he has to do. With just one kiss, can it lead to more or will The Club and her brother make the decision?

It's a good stand alone book and can be devour in a couple of hours. Will be looking for more books from this author.

♥♥ New to me MC romance ♥♥

Well this book pulled me in right away and I loved it from page to page.

Another one where it's character driven, it gives a great insight to the secondary characters that will hopefully be seen more of in the future. I loved the protective quality of the H towards the h.

I'd definitely read more of this couple and their MC life. I would have liked a bit more of the MC world details but other than that small negative I truly loved meeting these characters.

I really enjoyed this story. Allie running from a life she doesn't want with controlling boyfriend and father meets sweet, caring, sexy, alpha biker Jace and of course sparks fly even though she is off limits.

What a great first book in this series. It's been a while since I read a book written in third person but after a couple of chapters it flowed really well. I loved the banter between Allie, her brother and all the club members and I can't wait to read Cuss's book next!

Loved this book! Hot biker? ✅ Cool chick who can wrap said bikers around her finger? ✅ Do I want more? Yes please! J.L. Sheppard wrote a hot book about hot bikers. I need more. I want Army's story next. Trigger is probably still my fave. Is it weird I wanted to be Aly? Cuz I mean hello? Trigger. Oh! And she drives a bad ass '68 Camaro. This chick was too cool.

Allie has been controlled all of her life by her father. He even decided her career and the man she was going to marry. She had finally had enough. She  broke up with her cheating finacee (Wyatt), packed a bag and left without a word, taking a secret with her. Her brother, Tyler, would help her start a new life.
Tyler (Army) and Jace (Trigger) have been brothers since the military. They are now brothers of Hell Ryders MC which makes their bond stronger.
There is instant chemistry between Allie and Jace, but they can't act upon it since Army has specifically stated she's off limits. His brothers are not worthy of his high class sister. Jace doesn't think she would be interested in him since he is trailer trash.
When Allie's secret is exposed, the brothers jump into their protective mode.
The humour is off the charts. Allie is a  sweet, smart mouth girl who likes to mock her brother. The bedroom scene was hilarious. Her watching two alpha males squabble like children. One butt naked. In church, the brothers goaded Jace. So funny.
Evil is lurking in the shadows waiting to seek his revenge on Allie.
J. L. Sheppard has a exceptional style of writing MC stories. Each book is unique. You fall inlove with each character and their distinct personalities. Every book will captivate you. I would highly recommend this series, Hell Ryders MC.
Can't wait for next installment, Running Hot (Cuss and Tiffany's story #2) and Riding Blind (Ripper and Em's story #3).

Allies perfect life wasn't so perfect,on the run from it to the one person how would understand Tyler.
Arriving in town she searched for Ty,going to his place of work only to come face to face with big scary bikers. When she asks for Tyler they tell her no one by that name here. What is she to do she came all this way and no Tyler.Distraught and out of options she turns to leave when she is grab and held to which she lets out a Let me go to the roar of the bike pipes rolling up.Some calls her name and she instantly knows its Tyler aka Army to his brothers. She knows its going to be okay.
When Jace aka Trigger strolls up on the scene he sees her the most beautiful woman its knocks him back. Then he hears those dreaded words "She's off Limits"shes family. Dam she's Armys sister he would have to avoid her stay far away from temptation. He would never betray a brother or disrespect the club, rules were rules and they weren't to be broken.

I read this book in one day which I don’t do often. I had a hard time putting it down. The slow burn kept me begging for more. Then add in the secrets, insecurity, and suspense and it made for a good book! This is my first book by this author but I’m excited to read more about the Hell Ryders.

Thank you, J.L. Shepard, for an arc of your incredibly amazing story! In exchange for an honest review. Also posted: http://copyhousepress.com/blog/archiv...

Oh. My…. Let me compose myself….

YOU HAVE TO FREAKIN’ READ THIS!

Now, I have to admit, I was in a MC (motorcycle club) book-funk, but from the moment I read the first chapter, no, the first page of Running Wild by J.L. Sheppard, I knew I was going to love it!

Here’s why you will too!

The story opens with Allie, on a plane, fleeing from her cheating ex, to find her brother Army, who’s part of the MC club. From there we have our meet-cute with hunky, menacing, sexy – Jace aka Trigger/Trig, MC brother and friend of Army.

From there the pages combusted and my mind was singed from the deep chemistry Allie and Jace shared. Oh, I literally melted into a puddle of goo because of Jace. Usually with MC novels, the hero can be domineering and almost bullying, but Sheppard found the PERFECT balance of dominance, gruffness, and sweetness.

“All of it made him want her more. He wanted her in a way he’d never wanted another woman, for more than a night, for more than sex. He wanted her for keeps.”

He wasn't insulting or arrogant like many heroes have been since the Fifty Shades of Grey extravaganza. Of course, this is the MC, so he's rough around the edges. By this I mean there's a fair amount of swearing, yet it wasn't off putting, it fit the persona of his character and the whole idea surrounding the MC. Let's face it, they're not going to speak all flowery like medieval romance novel, that's obvious.

I think he’s now my new and official book boyfriend, (hopefully Allie won’t mind), muscled, tatted and although he hid it he was pure sugar inside. Wanting Allie, fighting it because he didn’t feel worthy, didn’t want to betray his brothers since Allie is “off limits” due to being Army’s little sister. That means NO ONE touches her. Well, it was supposed to be that way.

“I’m a man, and no man likes to see a woman cry. A man with half a heart tries to console that woman, no matter who she is.”

Literally, I cannot get over how sinful and heated it was to have a confidant and caring hero. One who cared about how his woman felt, hell, any woman whom is wronged he’d stand up for. It was so refreshing to have a male lead character like this.

Plus, I liked Allie just as much, she was emotional and feminine, yet she was ready to give her brother and Jace a piece of her mind when needed. She knew which battles were worth fighting. She was confidant, the fact she came from money didn’t make her a snooty princess. She was genuine and kind. Finally a heroine who didn’t annoy me. She also didn’t all of a sudden change into some sex-fiend-vixen, like what happens to most female leads in MC novels, she grew as a character, but didn’t completely change in personality.

Most of all, the story kept to it’s plot, continued to drive forward in a fast, what’s-next? Fashion. It wasn’t just hot and heavy, it still had a story.

Just one thing that didn't sit right, the President of the MC? I didn't really catch who he was and wasn't in the story much.

So, if you want a dominant, caring, freakin’ awesome hero, an amazing heroine and a hell of a lot of heat. Give this a read!

Seriously, I’ll be offended if you don’t.

This was a good start to the series. The characters were all well written and likable, the story didn't move too fast and there was plenty going on to keep me interested. I would have liked more of a showdown with Allie's dad because what an arse he is and every time I saw jaw-string instead of draw-string it irked me lol but otherwise this was a very enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to diving into the next one.

Wherever you are reading this review, I posted this first on The Romance Reviews and this is the first 5 star rating I have given on this site; it is that freakin' good. I wish I could beg Ms. Sheppard to just concentrate on writing this series, because waiting for book 2 will be like having a tooth pulled with no Procaine.

This book is not perfect, but it is addicting, so much so it killed to get in my car to come home from work, because that meant I had to stop reading. RUNNING WILD is the perfect balance for an MC romance series; not too rough, not soft either. It took awhile for the couple to get together, but I love that because I know Ms. Sheppard will give us something different with each book. With Jace and Allie, this was their way.

I wish there was more information on the physical appearance of some of the characters, but even if you can not say what they look like, you feel them and that is more important sometimes. You can sense their personalities, their emotions.

I am also hoping this will be a series that will keep us posted on past couples, because I fell in love with Jace and Allie and I want more of them!

If you have read anything else by Ms. Sheppard, read this and you will know what I mean when I say, this is her series, this is the big one. She nailed it! All of J.L. Sheppard's books are good, but she was made to write this MC series. I do not give 5 stars very often, but RUNNING WILD deserved it. There is no way you will not fly through this spectacular read, so make sure you do not have anywhere to be because you will not want to put this down for a second!
