Chuck Wendig is a novelist, a screenwriter, and a freelance penmonkey.
He has contributed over two million words to the roleplaying game industry, and was the developer of the popular Hunter: The Vigil game line (White Wolf Game Studios / CCP).

He, along with writing partner Lance Weiler, is a fellow of the Sundance Film Festival Screenwriter's Lab (2010). Their short film, Pandemic, will show at the Sundance Film Festival 2011, and their feature film HiM is in development with producer Ted Hope.

Chuck's novel Double Dead will be out in November, 2011.

He's written too much. He should probably stop. Give him a wide berth, as he might be drunk and untrustworthy. He currently lives in the wilds of Pennsyltucky with a wonderful wife and two very stupid dogs. He is represented by Stacia Decker of the Donald Maass Literary Agency.

You can find him at his website, terribleminds.com.

I liked this one.. although it didn't add anything
the way it showed Rey's vision.. I liked it a lot. I hope the other issues will be better

"It was okay." - 2 out of 5 star rating.

This is The Force Awakens (TFA) at 3x speed.

It's honestly moving so fast, it's hard for me to justify giving this anything higher than 2 stars. If this is what to expect for the remaining comics of this series, this is going to be a pretty quick/light read-through. Which I am okay with.

At this point you are better off just re-watching TFA to experience the full story versus getting the speed run delivery here. But... maybe that is their 'Adaptation'... using Force Speed to get through this content.

I really like that Rey's vision can be more clearly understood here.

At this point, the only reason I am enduring this series is to be able to tick it off my Disney Canon checklist (which exists and took a while to compile). There's nothing here that you wouldn't be better off seeing in the movie, without waiting up to a month for the next installment.

Once more, the only writing Wendig added to the mix was plain, dull exposition. Most notably, he got to name characters on a world about to be exploded by planet-destroying laserbeams. "Name X. Did Y.", relevant for a total of -5 seconds. Beyond that, there are three short text boxes on the first page, which don't tell you anything at all what you couldn't tell by looking at the panels. I honestly don't know how there can even be "writer" credits for tosh like this.

On top of all of that, what makes this maybe the most infuriatingly poor parts in the series, is the massive drop in art quality. Where issue 3 looked pretty damn good, with depictions of Snoke and Maz Kanata, Han and Chewbacca looking solid to great, this one lacks so much detail and is entirely inconsistent. Faces seem distorted from one panel to the next, the background is barely existent, and what should be a a touching reunion between Han and Leia looks like the artist just couldn't be bothered to finish drawing.

This issue really highlights the pacing problems this series has. Yes, these scenes happened relatively quickly in the movie, but they also had a lot going on that should have been adapted in more detail, with attention to the drama. It is so entirely rushed here, that it feels cramped together to the point of incoherency, with no time to feel emotion. Han & Leia's scene was covered in 5 panels, one of which has Leia's face consisting of two dots where the eyes should be, 3 text bubbles total minus the two from 3PO, which were out of place in a way that is far from what was intended by the screenwriters.

It was a relentless stream of action for most of the issue, lacking the impact those scenes should have had. All the grandeur of the Resistance's entry, the reappearance of Poe Dameron, the destruction of Hosnian Prime... They went by so quickly and without time to settle, I cannot help but consider this a (excuse me) piss-poor job at an adaptation.
