Narrative Therapy: through Poetry charts my own journey through the maze of mental illness I suffered for over a decade. On the back of spiritual and religious experience I was unable to comprehend, initial feelings of depression and anxiety worsened over a period to become full blown bipolar disorder. Volume One in the series is perhaps the most emotive, and desperate, reflecting my own discovery that through narrative therapy in the form of poetry I became able to make some sense and take control of the mental illness that I had battled unsuccessfully so far.
Volume Two harnesses the voices of bipolar disorder, which begin as sentiments and thoughts in the initial stages of depression and anxiety, but which soon became manifest in the internal voice within my mind, once more battling against the overwhelming religious experiences I had undergone and the somewhat more comforting spirituality I was working towards even in this new volume of poetry.
Volume Three, then, is recovery based, in which my narrative therapy through poetry helped me to harness the religious experience which caused my mental illness and allowed me at last to be largely in control of my own depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.
