Young Paul Carter has only just gotten home from boarding school when he finds out that an old family friend has suffered an injury that makes him think men are after him to put him in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Now it's up to Paul and Lassie to find Hardrock who's hiding in an old mineshaft up in the mountains - before someone gets hurt.
the conservatism, oh the conservatism. I get it at the time, but some people have taken it way too far. And why must people doubt it when they are told that the dog knows best?
When Paul arrives home in the midst of chaos the last thing he expects is to meet a dog who will help him to save the life of a man who has been a father to him. On a wildly daring adventure through forest fires, mountains, a wicked storm, and a cave-in, Paul risks everything. Thankfully Lassie is there to save him.
An exciting story for Lassie fans. The action never stops, and while Paul is a little irritating as someone else noted in their review, he does come through in the end. Thankfully we have Lassie along to clean up his messes...
I really enjoyed this book!! The lead character Paul, is a little grating at times in the first few chapters. But, he does lose the attitude fairly early on in the book. This is good, as it helps the reader to sympathize with his predicament in helping his friend. It is a very enjoyable book, and I enjoyed it thoroughly!! I do not want to give away too much of the story, other than to say that if you are a fan of Lassie, and her adventures this is a must read!!
