Spur Stop: The Secret Technique of Western Pleasure Competitors

Rate this book
The author introduces, perhaps for the first time ever, the secret technique that revolutionized Western Pleasure stock horse showing. Kept for many years as a secret technique, this is one of the first books discussing the history of early Western Pleasure showing and goes on to explain the Spur Stop method that has given many trainers and competitors an "edge" for many years. Also contained in this book is a discussion of desirable conformation for the Western Pleasure horse and a step-by-step discussion of the basic cues and training used in riding using the Spur Stop method. One of the first of its kind, you may search long and hard to find a book that describes this previously well-guarded showing secret.

Your Western Pleasure/Eq/Trail/Ranch Horse Will LOVE you!

What an easy reading, logical and positive training method Smith sets forth. I loved his affirming that "spur-stop" trained horses w/decent conformation and calm training actually relax, even enjoy, being ridden this way. They feel secure with a clear, kind and even logically thinking leader gently "supporting" their ribcage and--important--making movement/direction choices for them with minimum fuss and no/little discomfort.
The book is a fast read, too.
