I teach four-year old’s, my friends are few and far between, and my parents’ sex talk would make a Playboy Bunny blush. Dating, well I think my drawer of toys can answer that, just ask my mother. I live with my best friend who I can’t survive without – Oh did I forget to mention he is sexy as f*ck.
Tennyson, my best friend, decides he will figure out my love life. My hero, not really. His idea of helping me out is setting me up with loser after loser while he bangs every skank in the city. However, with a little persistence from him, much unwanted advice from my mom and pushing from my friends, I give date after shitty date a try.
Thing is, something holds me back. Something I can’t exactly put my finger on. I solicit Tenn’s help to fix the potential problem. Bad Idea. It won’t be easy, it will be fun, but shit I hope it’s worth it.
I’m Regan Banks and my life is about to change, big time.
Heather Dahlgren writes Contemporary Romance, sprinkling each book with a bit of humor, a lot of naughty and true love. She self-published her first book in 2014 and continues to do so today. Her over active mind promises the stories are in no short supply.
Heather grew up and still resides at the Jersey shore. She loves being so close to the Atlantic Ocean and the Pine Barrens. She is surrounded by the best of both worlds.
She is married to her high school sweetheart and has three kids. There is nothing more important in the world to her then her family.
When Heather isn’t writing you can find her getting lost in a great book, spending time with family and helping her fellow authors.
This is the first Rom/Com I've ever read, but it certainly won't be the last! It was absolutely hilarious! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down, and I laughed throughout the entire book. I loved both Tenn and Regan, not to mention their funny as hell parents! If you are looking for a book that is full of humor, but also hot and sexy, then I would definitely recommend Perfect Tenn!
Very disappointing. What should be humorous turned out to be annoyingly silly! Regan's blind dates are just nasty: one guy has disgusting yellow teeth; another arrived at dinner with head lice and the third is a sex pervert. In addition, Tenn and Regan's parents completely cross the line discussing their personal, sexual proclivities with their children. This makes Regan extremely uncomfortable. Finally for two reasonably intelligent best friends, how can they not see they are perfect for each other?
Double hell no! Best friends to lovers? Manwhore BFF as a hero?!
Triple HELL NO!!!
Tennyson, my best friend, decides he will figure out my love life. My hero, not really. His idea of helping me out is setting me up with loser after loser while he bangs every skank in the city.

It was sweet, hilarious and everything a friends to lovers story should be but if I need to read about one more "meaty c'''ck " references BY the truly insane a little bit even too much for me parents I am jumping out of a window... probably thats why its only a 4 for me..
Reading this book was like trying to look away from horror show. It was so bad that if I could give it a zero, I would. I've seen this trope done many times, and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Never though, have I been so disturbed.
The parents are a shit show. They aren't even funny. They are just grossly inappropriate and are three quarters of why this book was a horror show.
The other quarter is how terrible of friends Reagan has. Just wholly awful people.
I honestly feel like Tenn and Reagan had no chemistry... just lust and not even that. It all felt so forced.
Also, it wasn't the most well written book. It was reminiscent of a 2011 Wattpad era book....
I honestly don't recommend this book. Tiktok definitely disappointed with this one. The only redeeming quality that it had was that it ended.
I'm a total RomCom fan and OMG this hit the mark! I will be laughing about this one for weeks! After I read the blurb I knew this was going to be real good! This is definitely a remedy for any pissed off mood or shitty kind of day. Also perfect for wanting a good time kind of read! These characters are genuine and down to earth people, relatable to all of us. Regan and Tennyson have been friends since grade school. Now they are in there twenties, just getting their lives started. They are best friends, roommates and their families are very close. This makes for very interesting things! Things that you all must read! You will be very thankful for that time you get to spend curled up reading this story! Leaving a book with the biggest smile and euphoria pouring out your pores is the best feeling! This is my first book I've read written by Heather Dahlgren and I'm excited to start following her on her writing journey! We need more deliciously hysterical reads like this one. Life can just be to darn serious sometimes!
Disastrous dates? Check. A heavy dose of cluelessness? Check. Hot best friend? Check. Recipe for sparks and hilarity. Triple check. I think Dahlgren totally hit this one out of the park. She couldn't have written Tenn any better; he's a perfect blend of sexy and sweet with a side of yearning. His character development and reveal are done at such a beautiful pace that you don't even realize when you fallen in love with him, you just all of the sudden know he's an incredible guy.
And poor Regan. She's a sweet, naive, and a bit of a hot mess. Oh, and totally unaware. Her multiple dates (they're pretty priceless), her interactions with her parents (they have no filter and are HILARIOUS), and her blinders to Tenn make for an entertaining read.
My favorite scenes of the books are the "lessons" and when Tenn allows veiled messages to slip. This was a great book...totally going on my repeat TBR!
This was one of the funniest books I have read in a very long time. I laughed out loud multiple times throughout the story. The relationship between Regan, Tenn and their parents....freaking hilarious. I can't give any of it away but you'll be laughing your butt off. I got this book as an ARC from Heather. I was honored that she allowed me to read her newest romcom. I read it in one night. I couldn't put it down. The humor that she presents shines through. I recommend this book to anyone who is ready to laugh and to forget about everything around them. It's that good! Oh and I did mention how freaking hot Tenn is? OMG. Yeah, you're gonna love him.
It was a choice. I finished it because it was quick, but the plot was weird, their parents were sex positive but in a Christan trying to convince you to believe in Jesus way(forcing people to listen to you talk about your bedroom habits is weird), I found it really uncomfortable because there was slut shaming literally on page one. No one respected boundaries of what people enjoy in their sex life and it was very forced. Felt bad for Jen Because one shouldn't be shamed for being vanilla. Where did Regan's brother who was mentioned twice go? Why was he mentioned and never seen even though she was at her parents alot?
This book left me with alot of questions.

So the love story is cute but I had a hard time with how the parents talk about there sex life so openly. Don’t get me wrong parents being open about conversation about sex is great when kids are exploring their sexuality and need to be informed of safe sex but talking to your kid about giving their dad head or going into detail about what you guys do in the bedroom or asking for details on your child’s sex life is really odd and a bit uncomfortable for me.
This one was a little too over the top for me. I liked Tenn. He was cute when you get to see his true colors. But the scenes with both of their parents was just way too much for me. It was too much. Kinda turn off for me.
I love a book that can make me laugh out loud and this one did that. As well as hot sex with a hot guy, the humor, especially with the parents, was written so well I am still chuckling!
Bravo...a refreshing take on the friends to lovers storyline!
There has only been one other author to make me laugh while reading and I can add Heather to my list now. I absolutely loved her characters. Especially the parents of Tenn and Regan. I had people looking at me while I was cracking up reading on my kindle. You have 4 elderly people that are so open about sex or anything to do with sexual things. Dildos, lubes, oils you name it. They were awesome. Tenn sounded dreamy and it was hard to see him as being some what scared to admit how he felt about Regan. And Regan just didn't see some of the signs he was dropping to her. I would recommend this book to all of my friends. And would definitely read the 2nd book in this series if their was one. I only say if because it felt like it was a HEA like there was no cliff hanger. And that the author could go off in another direction with one of the other characters.
Regan and Tenn are best friends, have been best friends forever, so it only makes sense that they are roommates. It doesn't bother her when he has his "friends" over for the night. But lately, she is getting really tired of their parents constantly asking about her dating life, or lack there of. So after a series of blind dates that her various friends have set her up with, she finally goes to Tenn for help. But will she get more help than she bargained for? Will she realize what has been right in front of her the entire time or will it be too late?
This had me laughing so freaking hard! I loved their parents! Regan totally doesn't even see Tenn coming. I wants to say more, but I won't spoil this. I will say the sexy times are freaking HOT! Regan's friends are.... entertaining to say the least, and the parents keep you laughing with their antics. This was a 5 star read all the way.
Honestly, one of the worst books I've read lately. It felt like a mediocre fanfiction. The characters were flat without any personality and the story was rushed. The writing was repetitive and littered with grammatical errors and typos. I'm not a native speaker but it bothered me to no end. If you want publish a book, for the love of God, please hire a decent editor. Also not to mention the parents. What the fuck was that?
This romantic comedy is a difficult one to review. There are so many strengths, but there are some weaknesses that detract from the overall story. I enjoyed it immensely and read it very quickly. It is a book that I definitely suggest for romance readers.
Regan is a gorgeous redhead who lives with her equally gorgeous best friend, Tennyson. They've known each other almost all their lives and at twenty-three they decide sharing an apartment is perfect for them. It's a typical premise, but has some flair that makes it a unique read. Regan hasn't had a date in over two years. The author doesn't just come out and say it is due to her subconscious desire for Tenn, but it is obvious from page one. Her friends, including Tenn, convince her that she needs a real man, instead of her drawer of sex toys. So, they set her up on a series of hilarious but disastrous dates. The story is told first-person Regan and she is a riot. From start to finish, she never let me down and I laughed until I cried.
Initially, Tenn sleeps with everything in a skirt with such exuberance that Regan has to wear earplugs. It becomes clear within a few pages that he has the hots for Regan, but won't just come out and say it. So, like many other romance novels with this storyline, he thinks having lots of sex with anonymous women will get her attention. It certainly does. Only instead of making her realize he wants her, she thinks he's a man-whore. Slut status aside, he's a very likeable guy. He's not as funny as Regan, but it's not told from his perspective and he cannot hold a candle to Regan's sarcasm.
One of my issues with the book is the parents. Both Regan's and Tenn's parents are best friends and apparently do everything together. They are also single-minded and think about nothing but sex. They draw their children into these wildly inappropriate conversations and give descriptive details of their own insanely active sex lives. The first encounter was awkward, but humorous. The second was still funny, but even more awkward. This went on through the entire book. Regan would beg them to stop, but it seemed that they could only discuss sex. At one point, both mothers take Regan for a girl's day, which included a trip to a sex shop. The mothers are overjoyed and act like they are in heaven. Regan hides outside in the parking lot. I felt sorry for her, because they did not seem to care that they made her so uncomfortable that she had to down a bottle of wine just to get through dinner. What was incredible was that they had dinner with their parents several times a week. If my parents humiliated me and asked about my sex life, then compared it to theirs, including what they had just been up to seconds before I rang the bell, I would rarely see them.
Another aspect of the book that bothered me was Tenn's idiotic idea that having scream-inducing sex every weekend right on the other side of the wall from Regan would make her realize he was attracted to her. It's a premise I've seen a million times and I'm always confounded. I know that it is for drama and it definitely fits the bill, but she would have to wonder if he had picked up something nasty after banging a thousand easy women. Apparently, nothing says 'I love you' like excessive copulation with anyone other than that person.
Even with my personal issues regarding this book, I still read it all the way through and enjoyed most of it. Regan was the perfect storyteller; she was a riot, she was a strong woman who swore like a sailor, and she was the perfect amount of aloof when it came to Tenn. The side characters were entertaining, although the parents were too much for me, and added just the right amount of funny without detracting from the couple. Typos were a huge problem. I read the e-book, so I do not know if the print version has been edited, but it was obvious that this one hadn't. I am amazed, because the author is clearly gifted and was able to produce such a wonderful story without reading through it to check for errors. It was enough to make me pause, but the fact that I finished says a lot for this book.
For the rating:
Genre and general audience - romantic comedy and only for mature readers. The level of sexuality - is incredibly high. It's dirty and graphic. Not only do the parents think about it constantly, so does Regan. The difference is she doesn't give play-by-play until later on. Is there graphic language? Tons. It's always refreshing when it's not just the guy who swears, which is a stereotype of most romances, and Regan has no problems using colorful descriptors. Did I cry? Only from laughing so hard. Did I laugh? Like I said; I laughed hard enough that I had to wipe a tear from my eye. Is this part of a series? It is a stand-alone. Level of character development - Both Regan and Tenn are highly developed. Regan is a well-rounded character and never slips. Tenn is also a constant, once he makes a story-altering decision. Of course, Regan doesn't pick up on it, but the reader sees it right away. The side characters are fairly one-sided, but they are consistent and serve their purposes well.
I loved the book, even with the plethora of typos. I can forgive a certain amount and after that I usually stop reading, but this story kept me hooked and I had to see what entertaining scene was going to happen next. For being a popular storyline, it stood out amongst the others I have read, because it was so well-written (aside from the lack of editing) and the never-ending laughter. If the parents had been toned down just a bit and a second round of editing done, I would have given it one of my very rare five stars. What can I say? I love to laugh. As it stands, I'm happy to give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars. I highly recommend this book for romance readers who want a light, happy read and I am looking out for more from Ms. Dahlgren.
And this book right here is the reason why I will never again trust a tiktok rec.
This book was written in 2017, and it's the definition of no plot, just vibes. That's great! What's not great, is the vibes are "boy has sex with everyone and it's not clear that everyone knows that it's a just sex situation but that's okay because he thinks of the girl he's in love with the whole time anyway!" plus some acephobia, and a whole bunch of slut shaming by the FMC aimed at the MMC's real and potential sex partners, but not at the actual MMC, 2010 style. And let's not forget the casual harassment, fetishization of wlw and hoe one of the FMCs friends literally snuck into the MMCs bed without permission and we're supposed to find it funny.
I get that this was written to be tongue in cheek, and very funny, and I can see how those thing might have been funny at the point it was written, but it's not anymore.
Regardless, I could just be very sensitive, so this serves as a warning for other readers. I wouldn't recommend it.
Oh Tennyson Stephens my PERFECT TENN aka my Manwhore!
I enjoyed Tenn and Regan's story. I literally read their story in one sitting! I couldn't put it down. Reagan reminded me of my single friends, this is why I refuse to accept any of my friend's offer of setting me up. I can see it play by play as I read this. Regan really got to kiss loads of TOADS till....
I LAUGHED so much, I think I woke up my cat Moo at least 5 times! One of my favorite lines, "You are a dead man. Sleep with one eye open or better yet, don't sleep at all because I'm going to EFEN Lorena Bobbitt your ASS"
Claire and Brenda, I don't know if I could handle having them as my mother. I'm pretty Liberal but is EXTREMELY Conservative compare to the two. Their Dads were equally FUNNY especially Regan's Dad!
Five words to describe Perfect Tenn... Playful, Comical, Endearing, Risqué and Fidelity.
This book was great loved the main characters Regan and Tenn along with their parents. I laughed and couldn't stop turning the pages to find out what was going to happen or was going to be said next it's that good. As you meet Regan you really will want to slap her to wake her up and be embarrassed for her all at the same time. Tenn will have you thinking hes not only the perfect roommate but the perfect man and someone that will have you wanting a man like him in your life. Together they take you through friendship and a love that will last a lifetime. Have really fallen in love with this author and have devoured many of her book but besides Renegade this was my favorite of hers so far cant wait to read what she puts out next.
I really wanted to love Perfect Tenn. I saw it all over social media and it sounded great, but holy crap there's a lot of sex and talk about sex with very little substance. Had it explored the friendship-turned-romance between the two main characters instead of constantly throwing in failed first dates and non-stop embarrassing AF moments with their parents, it would have been great. And I'm not a person to mention errors in a book because I rarely ever catch them. There are multiple errors in this book and I find it hard to believe that it hasn't been edited and updated since its release in 2017. In the end, was it a fun read? I'd say yes. If you have KU, give it a shot. If you don't, I'd pass.
Came across this book on TikTok where my FYP is probably 70% book recommendations, 15% food, 10% fashion and 5% music. Anyway. I was curious, it was on KU and it was rather short. Now, I’m frankly disappointed.
This book is the perfect example of "no plot, just vibes" except the vibes are a bit weird. I was originally going to say the vibes are "meh" which isn’t a word but is probably the accurate feeling here. The whole book feels like the author started writing with NO/ZERO plans and then, once she was at her computer, she didn't stop until she was done. It’s clearly intended to be funny, except the humour doesn’t work? It’s heavy and ends up being pretty over-the-top. You go from one cliché to the next. There’s a whole lot of slut-shaming (only the female characters!), some harassment and no respect for boundaries.
Here are a couple of things you can look forward to here: - Best friends since childhood living together - Male main character who has a lot of sex with a lot partners - Female main character who is constantly set up on blind dates by friends even though she is not interested - Sex-obsessed parents who keep discussing their personal sexual activities in front of their (adult, thank fuck) children
Tenn is in love with his best friend and she doesn’t know it. She’s been dating other men and he has been sleeping with any blonde who walks by. They finally have it out one night and the spice hits on a slow sizzle. This book was cute but Holly was a more memorable character than Regan(who I actually had to go look up her name). Randomly there was a second POV at the end of the book. But the real reason it only got 3 stars is her parents. Frankly it was funny at first but then became uncomfortable and clearly showed a lack of boundaries that Regan was trying to put up.
Omg. Another RomCom book that I read this year that has me in giggles.
Perfect Tenn is just perfect. Funny, sweet and full of emotions.
It tells us the story of Regan and her dating life. But the main point of the book are the lessons her friend is giving her. Even thinking about them make me burst out laughing.
Regan is sweet and naive, with parents speaking their mind (like with no filter or whatsoever). She has dates that are just hilarious.
Regan and Tenn were best friend since they were kids there parents were best friends Regan and Tenn lived together he dated a lot of women once they moved in together Regan had a hard time finding someone she could date then one guy made her choose him or her best friend Tenn and she chose Tenn He stopped bringing girls home to sleep with cause she was so in love with Regan but she didn't know it Regan loved him too but didn't know he felt the same way until the talked They both for their happy ever after
I’d give this zero stars if I could. Literally, THE worst book I’ve ever read, and I’ve read some horrific books in the past. Lots of typos & grammatical errors, lots of swearing, which as a non-native speaker is just horrible representation of english writing, not to forget the weak and cliché plot.
I’ll add the uncomfortable and just plain weird characters of the parents and how they’re just extremely inappropriate with no sense of boundaries. Who the hell talks about such extreme sexual activities with their children?
It is so hilarious. Regan and Tenn have been friends since they were young. The live together as friends. Tenn is a man whore and poor Regan ends up with losers. Both there parents are embarrassing funny about sex. That is all they seem to talk about. Poor Regan get embarrassed and Tenn joins in. They are so cute together and when things finally work out for them it is fun and crazy too. Love this book. Another awesome book by Heather.
Okay sooo loved the plot and characters… part from the mother, like I understand sex talk is normal but it borderlined on fucking annoying, it was constant with her parents, like don’t they have anything else to talk about? Lol. I feel bad cos it was actually a really, really good little read but yeah it was just a big issue for me😂 maybe I’m being petty, but honest nevertheless. ⭐️⭐️⭐️-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow just wow. I couldn’t put this book down. I love Tenn and Regan together. Best friends for years they were roommates and well Regan didn’t have the best judgement in guys. And then Tenn tried to set her up. I have never laughed hard. You could see the love between them building. This book was awesome. I loved their parents. They were a hoot. I highly recommend this book. Can’t wait to find more books by this author
I loved this book. Regan's parents would definitely embarrass me, but they were so funny! I internally screamed at Regan. Even though most of the book is from her POV I could tell early on Tenn had feelings for her. I loved Tenn, Regan, her friends, the parents, everything. Would definitely recommend.
