However, I never put pen to paper until I have most if not all of my story planned out in my head. I don't even make notes. Along the way the story may shift and change a little and certain characters may stand out more but the main body stays the same.
I'm having fun, I hope you are too.

Šī bija ļoti pat forša grāmata par cilvēku, kas, kā izrādās, ir no citas pasaules un neizmērāmi gudrs, bet pats velta savas zināšanas un enerģiju nepareizā virzienā līdz brīdim, kad viņa rokās nonāk viņa...

Gabriel was an orphan left on the stairs of a church 35 years ago. From as far back as he can remember, he has had the nightmare that he is shot and killed at age 36. His best friends at the orphanage, Max and Gus have always been on his side.
Gabriel goes by the name Emerald and owns barrooms with hidden gambling casinos and other money making ventures. Max is now a cop and Gus works for Emerald. Max is still his best friend and warns him every time D.A. Anderson is gunning for one of his businesses just to be able to send him to prison. People have been trying to kill him and a striking woman gets caught in fighting and he scoops her up and runs her to a doctor. The woman tells him her name is Grym and he assumes her name is Miss Grimm.
He is sexually attracted to her and has her stay in the spare room in his penthouse. They begin a relationship without his knowing she is really his bodyguard from another planet. Her and 7 other soldiers were sent back to retrieve important information, which happens to be locked in Emerald's head.
Emerald is speaking their strange language and understanding it without realizing it. Grym tells him the truth that he is a re engineered copy of the man who was murdered at age 36, and holds all the answers. He was sent threw a hole in time to planet earth as a newborn with the brain of a grown man. As Emerald he is much kinder than the original Gabriel, even though he runs illegal gambling parlors, he takes care of those around him without them knowing.
When they attempt to go through the original hole to get to their planet, assassins are waiting for the opening and 2 of their soldiers are killed. They take sanctuary in the church and Grym tells him she is pregnant by putting his hand on her stomach. He is overjoyed, but upset that he is the last to know, as all the soldiers are mind linked with each other. Grym fears that he just wants the baby to claim an heir. When he asks to marry her, she thinks it is just for breeding until he tells her how much he loves her.
Will they be able to escape back to their planet at the right space and time or will D.A. Anderson lock him up never to be seen again? Will Grym be able to have her baby and if she does, which planet will it be born on and will Emerald be with her?

I like the premise of the story and it had good reviews.
Because I spend a lot of time in a car, I listened to the audiobook.
I barley made it thru the book, it was very amateurish and horrible dialogue.
What made it even worse was listening to Theo Holland, he was horrible. He paused in all the wrong places and several times it sound like he didn't know what the next work was going to be.
It is possible that the writing is better but made to sound amateurish by Mr. Holland.
I'll be passing on any more of Stacy Bender books, to bad it was a good premise. Theo Holland just made the top of my list of bad narrators.

Good ingenious plot
Good plot and solid characters. My only complaint is that the end is a cliff hanger. Almost ended... but it did not. I really do not like when authors do that. If the idea is to hook a reader, it does not work on me. It is entertaining enough, if you wanna show to chance it, it may be worth it.

This being the first book I have read by this author, I didn't know what to expect. This storyline is so engaging, I found myself at the end and truly taking note of book two because, yes, I want more. These characters are so truly unique it is no stretch to say anyone would want to know more about their stories. Emerald a Tears is a true 5 star winner, and I have no qualms referring this great read!

I am not a Sci-Fi person. But after reading Emerald Tears I realized that it just wasn't about science. It is a combination of mystery, history, action, science fiction all mixed in with a little bit of romance. Great read and can't wait for the next Sav'ine Guard book. No spoiler alerts so you will have to get to enjoy it. I did! Stacy Bender has an imagination like nobody I have ever read.

Three young boys in an orphanage, Our Lady of Sorrows, with friendship formed for mutual protection. A friendship which was to endure into adulthood despite one, Max, becoming a cop and the others prefering the more exotic lifestyle of clubs and illegal liquor. But despite his affluent lifestyle and apparent carefree approach, the first of the three friends now known as Emerald, harbours a terrible fear: ever since his earliest memory he has dreamed each night of his death by shooting in a strange futuristic setting. He knows it will happen. And soon. In fact, within a year.
Then into his life comes a beautiful woman with an emerald teardrop tatooed on her cheek. And lots of other trouble comes, too...
Beautifully, if starkly, descriptive, shiny bright to the readers' eyes, this is a book formed from a creative imagination, with interesting action surprising as the strange story unfolds. The characterisations are not fully rounded but still amply sufficient for the purpose, giving a cartoon-cum-dreamlike larger than life feel to the book. It is a story which lingers in the memory long after the reader has closed the final page. And it is the first of a trilogy.
Despite the very ably planted enticement to continue the series which arrives in the very last lines, I had determined that this one book was enough, not quite my usual science fiction style. But a week has now passed since I closed the electronic covers and I know now that I will have to read on. My thanks to Book Review 22 for gifting me a copy of Emerald Tears and introducing me to this remarkable writer. I will certainly be recommending her work now to anyone who enjoys a little weirdness in their well written, fantastical, exhilarating science fiction

When I first read the manuscript of Emerald Tears, I was blown away by the complexity of Stacy Bender's characters. These are not one dimensional cardboard sci-fi characters; these are fully fleshed out people with flaws, courage, feelings, and insecurities. These are aliens you can identify with. The 1930s gangster setting completes the originality of the book.
I'm glad this is a series--I'd like to see more of this concept. As Bender grows and progresses as a writer, we will surely see her unique brand of science fiction/fantasy become richer and even more vibrant.

For someone who doesn't like Scifi this was a fabulous book. The Savine Guards are an interesting group and they get things done. Little romance, things that made you laugh and seriousness. Can't wait to read book two and see what is next.

Great Book! It had me hooked on the first page. I love those kind of books. Hooks you and keeps you wanting to stay up all night to finish the book and when your done your wishing for more. :) I would recommend this book.

I started reading this book and found it difficult to put down. A very interesting setting, with characters and scenarios that will keep you glued to it.
