Will You Be My Escort

Rate this book
Jackson Carlisle has rotten luck with men and women, and after an especially bad situation, he takes a step back from romance. But with a two-week family reunion in Hawaii looming, his mom is determined to set him up with one of the sweet singles she knows would be perfect for him. A normal person would tell her no and be done with it. Instead, Jackson tells her he has a boyfriend. The only problem? He doesn’t.

Aaron Wilkes is an escort. He’s a little surprised when a friend’s girlfriend hires him to date her brother, but he’s had stranger jobs. Jackson is cute, and he thinks a fling with Aaron might be just the kind of no-strings-attached fun he needs to get over his dry spell. As they explore the islands together, their carefully laid plans begin to get away from them. Feelings aren’t supposed to come into play, but that shouldn’t be a problem. After all, you can’t fall in love in two weeks….

*I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review.*

This was a GREAT addition to the series. I adored Aaron and Jackson. Jackson brought out the protective alpha in me! ;-) It was shitty what all his exes did to him. So no wonder he lost all his self-esteem. Aaron showed a lot of perception and understanding to that and did a great job getting him out of his shell.

If I compare the two books of the series, then what I find is that book one was completely focused on the MCs James and Bastien. Whereas this book had equal spotlight on the MCs' relationship development as well as the family. Which is what was expected, only, because the story centers around the family reunion. Which reminds me, God! The Carlisles are borderline insane!!!! I agree with that idiot guy. They are just...what the?!?!

It was a very enjoyable read, and the precious surprise I got - an excerpt of the next book - has made me eager to get to the end of this month so I can get my hands on it. This series has me hooked. So keep it coming, Meg! ;-)

Fluffy cuteness!

Seriously, this could easily fit into the Dreamspun series.

Will You Be My Escort can be read as a standalone, NOT that I would recommend that since I LURVED Dinner For One to the moon and back; but, to each their own.

This is the second of The Carlisles novels and combines the fake boyfriend trope with the male escort trope to great effect.

Jackson is the youngest of the Carlisles and he's had his heart broken one too many times thus has stopped dating to avoid Heartbreak 97.0. A big family reunion IN HAWAII plus a well meaning, if slightly pushy and meddlesome, mother make the perfect breeding ground for THE LIE.

You know the one, so now he's got to produce "the boyfriend". Thankfully his enterprising sister Georgina knows a guy.

Remember when Carrie (SatC) decided she was going to take a LOVVAAAHHHHH and everyone from here to Schenectady knew that was never going to happen? Because Carrie's incapable of anything other than monogamous relationships? Jackson is Carrie and he thinks he's going to have a rebound fling to get back in the dating saddle with the hot escort who makes him babble and blush like a 14 yr old. I find this amusing in so many ways.

Jackson's eccentric, independent(ish), artistic, a romantic and ever so slightly neurotic. He's also a chatterbox when nervous something Aaron finds adorable as did I. The gumball brain never fails to entertain me with the "yeah, you said that out loud".

Aaron is an escort but also Tristan's best friend (Georgina's beau). He's also highly professional and never ever falls for his clients.

So... they're both a little deluded. *shrugs* Nobody's perfect.

Can I just say, I'm completely and totally enamored with the Carlisle family. They are nosy, kooky, and competitive as all get out but CHEESE AND CRACKERS! They got charisma is all I'm saying.

Jackson and Aaron didn't get under my skin the way James and Bastien did. I think the feelings happened too quickly and I missed watching them develop. But it was still a warm fuzzy read with some satisfying sexy times and two adults who use their words, though I'm not a huge stickler for effective communication. Sometimes opening up and showing vulnerability is hard, I get that. Plus all that poor communication can make for great tension and usually fireworks. *eyebrows* I heart fireworks. A lot.

But Aaron and Jackson were both verbal and they both love dogs! Which everyone knows automatically makes someone trustworthy.

I can't wait for the twins stories and to catch up on Tristan and Georgina!

Recommend for those who need a little fluffiness in their life, as a beach read or to those in a blizzard who want to remember what warmth feels like. Because Hawaii.

Read this in one sitting. It was adorable 100% of the time, but the last few chapters leading up to the HEA just weren't as satisfying as the first part of the book. And the first book is such a favorite that I was distracted every time James and Bastian were on page. But this was a worthy sequel and I know we haven't seen the last of Aaron and Jackson and their 4 pups.

Can this family possibly get any crazier or sweeter? I know they will! I'm going to start book 3 (hockey related!) tomorrow night. Yay!

Definitely recommended.

This was cute, fluffy fun!

I'm a sucker for a good fake-boyfriend trope, and this was the cute story I was looking for.

Jackson's insecure rambling nervousness was endearing and paired with Aaron's caring personality...they were a great fit.

The Hawaiian landscape was an added bonus as a terrific backdrop to the story. Add in the family competitions and touristy events and this was some good old fashioned easy fun.

I gotta say, the Carlisles...they just keep winning me over! They're loud, nosy and way too much in each other's business....but they're hilarious!

Bastien: You're seeing someone?
James: Since when?
James: I call bullshit. Man you lied to mom.
Bastien: James says you made it up :(
Dorian: Bro.
Dorian: Come on.
Denver: She's gonna be so broken up when you "break up"
Denver: She better not find out you lied.
Georgina: You're a moron, but I can fix this. Call me.
Laurence: And I can walk on water
Laurence: Marcy says that was mean. I'm sorry. Congrats to you and the imaginary friend.
Laurence: She says that was mean too. Truly sorry.

Unfortunately, the author lost me with time jumps in the last 25% of the book. It's though she knows where she wants the characters to go and how the story will end, but isn't quite sure how to get over the transitional hump (I had the same issue with the previous book).

Also, Aaron's job as an escort felt kind of like a throwaway. It was only there to serve as the way the two characters come together, but after that it's a non-issue. This bothered me because one of Jackson's issues is the fact that his last boyfriend cheated on him and he felt like he was too cold or not good enough to keep a boyfriend. Aaron doesn't sleep with his clients, but I still think it's weird since I would think that it would trigger some of Jackson's insecurities.

Even with my couple of head scratchers, I'm really enjoying this series for what it is....easy, cute fun.

Super enjoyable installment in this new series featuring the Carlisle family.

I really enjoyed Dinner for One, so I was definitely looking forward to this, and it absolutely lived up to my expectations.

I loved the premise and the execution. Filled with humor, hot sex, and enough realism that I didn't have to suspend disbelief to get through it, this absolutely hit the spot in all the right ways.

Note: There are time jumps in this: Eight Months Later, Two months later, One Month Later, Two weeks later, Four Months Later...but I honestly thought they worked very organically in the story and helped ease the somewhat insta-love aspect to give some time and perspective.

I am so in love with this family and the beautiful way they accept, without question or conversation, Jackson's bisexuality.

I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series, Checking It Twice, which looks like it will feature one of the twins (Dorian) and a hot, but closeted, hockey player. Sign me up, please! Yum!

This was a cute read, taking a spin from the rent boy trope. Jackson Carlisle, one of James's brothers from Book 1, needs to get his mother off his back. He has the shittiest luck in past relationships, and she keeps pressuring him to get back out there.

An upcoming family reunion leaves his sister with a suggestion to hire Aaron, her boyfriend's best friend, as his fake boyfriend for the event. Aaron is a professional escort (the no happy ending kind). He provides dates for a living. And this will be one hell of a long date - two weeks in Hawaii is how this family does reunions!

This was a light, lowish angst, book. I could really feel the simmering feelings and attraction between Aaron and Jackson. However, there was definitely an insta-love feel to this one. And then there was an abrupt time jump that was nothing short of jarring. Time jumps can be smoothly incorporated, and this one most definitely wasn't.

That seemed to be a theme with this story, though - the jagged effect of the writing. It would be moving along just fine and then every two chapters or so, there would be a lurch in the story, in the writing really. I can't describe it any better than that, but I got whiplash from this book, and not from actual turns of events.

Overall, I'll settle on three stars, because I still enjoyed Aaron and Jackson's story. It just wasn't my favorite from this author. Book 1 from the series remains the best, IMO.

True rating: 3.75 [please don't let my rating dissuade you] - I wanted to/was going to give it a solid 4 (and so I rounded up), but deducted a 1/4 of a star because of one thing that I was really hoping to get and didn't :-(. Want to know why? Read my review ;-).
The book IS great though and I most definitely recommend it :-)!!

Please note: This is not your typical review … this isn’t classic in its structure … this is just going to be a flow of thought - perhaps a bit disjointed here and there - highlighting my relationship with the book I’ve read :-). It’s not that I can’t review, of course I can, it’s just, I’m not a reviewer by any stretch … I leave that to the professionals :-P. I’d much rather just focus on reading :-).

Without further ado … here we go:

Let me start off by saying I really, REALLY enjoyed this book! I’d prefer you not put much focus on my rating of this book and instead, focus on what I write here. The reason for that is because while I’ve rated the book a 3.75, I don’t feel the stars completely highlight my appreciation. On one hand, I am at odds with the number … on the other, as much as numbers can, I do feel like it quantifies to the best of its ability.

There are some things authors tackle that I find to be a relatively ballsy move … writing in 3rd person narrative is one of them. Some do well at it, some fail miserably. Then there is Meg Harding, an author that made 3rd person narrative her bitch ;-) …she simply excels at it ... and to say she has managed to wrangle the talent into submission, would somehow be an understatement. Admittedly, it took me a little while to get used to the style of narration, but it didn’t take me long (at all) to get swept up into the story and drawn into its plot. The language and great humor engaged me quickly and didn’t let go until the very last page of this book.

Another thing I REALLY appreciated is the fact that not once did the author introduce labels into the lives of her men here. Not once did Meg Harding have her MCs introduce their readers into their lives by uttering the words “I’m gay” or “I’m bi” or “I’m straight, but …”.
There are no labels. There is no confusion outside of navigating the highways of falling in love. There are no declarations of sexual orientation … there is just sexual ATTRACTION, friendship, lust, and LOVE. The camaraderie and acceptance here was a breathe of fresh air, and I enjoyed how the author made a statement without making statements at all. The message, I believe, is this: differing from one another is a thing of nature. We must enjoy being blessed in the love we receive, and that love when all is said and done, is just love :-).

Love. We’re getting to the crux of the matter and let me tell you, this book is all about the seduction ;-) … the characters seduce one another and the book, well, the book seduces ME!! There is so much here. The MCs are well developed and three-dimensional … you can FEEL the heat, the electricity, the tenderness, and the adoration these men have for one another, and HOLY FUCK can Meg Harding write a sexually charged sex scene. My heart was pumping and I wasn’t even there :-D!
With that in mind, I truly enjoyed witnessing each character’s internal musings. I enjoyed the internal processes each MC goes through in terms of working through the intricacies of how they’re feeling and/or what they’re thinking. The author targets significant fundamentals through her MCs, and it was an absolute joy to be introduced into all that so seamlessly :-)!

In not so short, it’s safe to conclude, I really and truly enjoyed this read. But, and here is the but, it’s the ending that took a turn for me :-/. While we absolutely get an HEA here, reader, there IS an HEA, I still felt like it was rushed and after 95% of the book being as full of substance as it was!! I thought the book deserved a much more stimulating ending. There were no declarations of “I love you” … there was an understanding that they did indeed love one another, and that’s great, but after all that … after overcoming their obstacles, this was one statement … one declaration I would have really appreciated receiving. I wanted that closure :-/ and I was disappointed I didn’t get it. I felt this book deserved much more in terms of an ending, and that’s the reason I rated this book what I did. In an alternate universe, had that happened, I probably would have rated this a 4 or even a 4.5.
I WILL note however that the ending does lend itself to continuation … as though there is more to come, and naturally, seeing as the “end” signifies their “beginning”, it makes sense. But again, I wanted the confirmations of love. What is an “I love you”, after all? It’s an emphasis. Confirmation, if you will, to the person you love, that you love them. It’s telling your loved one: “You know I love you, but I’m telling you anyway … what you believe you know, is absolutely true. I love you!"
I mean, we both know it’s a beautiful day, but sharing in that, sharing it with one another, pointing it out ... makes it that much more beautiful. It’s always wonderful hearing/witnessing it :-).

Cute fake boyfriend rom com with Jackson, brother to James from book one. Aaron is an escort “but not a hooker” an attitude that irked me; not very sex-positive. It was a ridiculous family reunion in hell, I mean Hawaii, where the activities were opportunities to build a solid basis for a relationship. That part was made to feel authentically paced but the cutesy dates were a little much. Aaron’s characterization didn’t always appeal because how he was drawn didn’t make him feel genuine to me but not enough to totally spoil it. An angst free, entertaining read.

I read the first installment of Carlisle family with James and Bastien. I think I can see the similarities from the two books. Comfort read, with a little plot twist near the ending, sweet until 80 percent mark and twist and the end, with a sweet ending. It's not that I'm complaining, but some of the 'detail scenes', like when Bastien and James sharing the recipes and cooking details, this time Aaron and Jackson sharing their 'adventure'. I was glad this time there's not too much details like the previous book, maybe it's Aaron's 'occupancy' make it hard to put on details.

Speaking of Aaron's job, I think this should be a bit more fire in the story, but it's was just okay, while I need 'steamy' at time. Blame me.

This is actually sweet, with a little ridiculous jealousy here and there. The low self esteem of Jackson about relationship. And the way Aaron tried to convinced Jackson that not every relationship will ended bad.

I'm still having a hard time with the nosy family, especially the twins and Mother.

Well, Aaron seemed okay with them, so...let him be.

I also have a little problem with Aaron's job at the end of the book. But since Jackson accepted what he do for a living, I guess, that won't be my problem in the future. Let Jackson have it.LOL.

Overall, this is an okay read. If you're looking for this kind of story, go for it!

Falling in love with a “pretend boyfriend” may not be a wise thing to do, for more than one reason, but it’s a storyline I really like. Maybe I’m a fan because it is super romantic when a professional escort like Aaron falls for his client. Or maybe I just like the fact that a guy like Jackson, who thinks he is “unworthy” of a good relationship and feels he has to resort to paying someone to be his pretend lover, ends up seeing himself in a new light and believing he deserves to be loved just the way he is. Like in the first book of this series - where Jackson’s brother James, the food critic, finds the love of his life in Bastien, a chef of French descent – both Jackson and Aaron have some unusual quirks, get themselves into more trouble and awkward situations than should be legal, and have a very rocky beginning to a surprisingly promising relationship.

Meg Harding is back with the Carliles -- and I must say that this family is entertaining *LOL*. I am so used to reading about big/crazy/nosy families in M/F small town romance, so I quite welcome Jackson and his family on their reunion to Hawaii.

I liked that they are not homophobic bigot family, so no hateful comments from older uncle, or church-going aunties ... simply crazy competitive family members, which probably are determined to drive away the hopeful weaklings of joining their clan *LAUGH*

I thought Jackson was adorable. I thought Aaron was a good man. I liked them enough together, but I had to admit that their relationship just fell into the light angst/nice category for me. It wasn't exhilarating enough and the fizzled out the story near the end. So I enjoyed this but not loving it enough for my 4* category.

After a re-read my rating definitely still stands.
Meg Harding does these really great, fun, chill romances so well, and they make me smile like crazy.
----------------------------------------------

I hit my stride with Meg Harding, and I gobbled up her Dinner for One-series in a few days.

Yes, the whole series follows the same storyline:
MCs meet --> lovey-dovey --> crisis --> talking to clever sister and/or brothers --> HFN.

But it REALLY works for me, especially because Meg Harding is funny AND her characters are fleshed out and sensible people.

I liked that Jackson and Aaron took some time, and re-evaluated (even though it was sort of a case of oblivious/misunderstanding/miscommunication MCs')! I am a BIG fan of MCs making sure they're the best people they can be for their partner, and Jackson's rationalization after the fact, really made me like him even more. His insights were great and I thought their romance was great.

I will definitely read these books again, and I recommend them if you want to read something lighthearted and fun.

The concept of this story is not very creative but appealing nevertheless. Escort meets a guy on a professional level and after some time - surprise!!! they fall in love. I have read this kind of story several times and I really like the idea.
In this case, it is Jackson, who needs to go to a family reunion to Hawaii and because his family doesn`t stop asking, his sister comes up with a plan to hire Aaron as his pretend boyfriend. Both like each other and they move on from pretending to a "holiday fling" both knowing it cannot be more than that.
The book kept me entertained and it was an okay read but honestly, it was rather average. The story was extremely predictable no surprises whatsoever. The main characters were strange. Jackson, telling Aaron why his relationships always fail, thinks he is strange and I must admit, I think he is right about that.
Everything felt "written" and not natural. Everyone acted in a weird way and the story evolved really strangely. At the end, they got their HEA and I didn`t really care about it. This was okay while it lasted but nothing I would recommend and for me average 3 stars.

Jackson comes from a loving and rich family and does well on his own as a make-up artist for famous movies. He has four brother sisters. They are all noisy and intrusive, but supportive. Aaron is an escort who dates, but does nothing sexually with his clients. Both men are gay. Jackson has a rough time with relationships with the last one being so rough that he got rid of all his possessions and bought a house because he felt that everything in his home as tainted by his ex-boyfriend and his lover. Jacksons's sister sets him up with Aaron as his date at a family reunion in Hawaii. They make an instant connection when they meet. Aaron soon realizes that he is in for a rough time as the family reunion involves competitions to win a trophy that the families fight for the honor of having until the next reunion.

There is a lot of angst in this as well as family love, loyalty, hot sex, misunderstandings, denying feelings, nosey family members and lust. The games are fun to read about and instead of making the MCs heroes, they fall and have to pick themselves up just like normal people. The games help Jackson and Aaron learn to know each other better. This is a funny, at times sad, story. It gives a picture of a man who has many hang ups and phobias and a mouth that never shuts up. It also shows a man who is wise in the ways of people, but who fails himself by making decisions that are only going to break his heart. A really good story. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC book.

*~~*ARC kindly provided by the author to me in exchange for an honest review *~~*

I loved this novel a bit more than the first one – which was already great.

I admit I have lost my heart the moment I read about Jackson’s bad luck with his dates. He is really to pitty and you only want to hug and cuddle him closely.

The idea of helping him with an escort to prevent the nasty questioning of his mother let me laugh viciously and a bit mean. :3 I have a great joy to read stories with this plot because I know how they end but it’s the journey is the reward. I am a soft heart and so I KNOW there can’t be anything than a HEA. :3

I was as amused several times as I was reading the first book, maybe even more because of the hilarious actions the character had to go through during their “vacation”.
You can truly agree with the statement of one of the character – the boyfriend of James’ and Jackson’s sister: the whole family is crazy.

Again a great book with… yeah, slight drama but I guess without it wouldn’t have the necessary spice.

Great sex scenes and sensual tension rising during the whole novel. Also with sweet emotions which clench your hearts. Just what I love.❤

5 out of 5 stars.

**the books are a little overpriced for what you get. I would have a more positive opinion overall if I wasn't paying so much for it**

Another satisfying read, satisfying being the best word I can think of. The stories aren't mind blowing and I don't fall in love with the characters as much as I could but I do really enjoy reading them and continuing on the series about the Carlisle family.

This is the second book and it, for the most part takes place in Hawaii. It was an interesting read but I wouldn't go as far to say entertaining. I wasn't crazy about their extended family, we were warned plenty beforehand so I shouldn't have been surprised but they just weren't great additions IMO and the whole competition part of the story wasn't for me.

Thankfully we didn't get too much of them however we did get a somewhat unnecessary brochure about Hawaii. If I'm not mistaken this author has a talent/flaw for being very detailed which is impressive, she clearly knows her stuff, not that I can fact check because i have never been to Hawaii or cooked French food (book #1) but for me it's just a little too detailed, I know you can't make everyone happy and for some it's too detailed and others it won't be but personally I do find myself skimming pages that are laden with details about things I don't really care about, the truth is whilst the background and secondary details make it a well written story and a quality read, all I really care about is the romance between the main characters.

Unfortunately it wasn't just a one time thing for book 1, the sex scenes do not come in spades which is a little disappointing. But it's the authors style/choice/preference for their own writing so I won't complain. Just subtly suggest we get more rumble and tumble in future stories..

Thus far the stories I have read from this author have been light, low drama reads, but with that said it doesn't necessarily mean things are fluffy and smiley the whole way through. I actually deeply related to Jackson's insecurities which meant that every negative thought and insecure feeling was projected through the pages and I felt everything myself. For me that's means the author did their job right however is also means whist the story was incredibly light it also had more depth and an undercurrent of sadness. I can't imagine this will be everyone's experience.

As with the last book, the epilogue wasn't great. This is probably because it's a series and it won't be the last time we see and hear about this couple. However I still would have liked a little more, the story is somewhat subdued and doesn't blow your mind and I think if your stories are going to be like that, intentionally or not then you can absolutely add a little bit of fluff and love to things. By the time the 'drama' (the inevitable bad part of the story for the couple) was over I thought they were kind of past dating and being casual and withholding their real feelings, I just kinda wanted them to bask in the realisation that they both had some pretty serious feelings for each other and the so many months of being apart was torture for them both equally. Instead the author gave us some well thought of but does nothing for my girly parts and doesn't really make my stomach flutter, creative dates and a family meal, this girl needs a little more cheese and fluff in her romances, not to the point where it cheapens the writing but enough that I'm left grinning like an idiot.

I'm going to shut up now and recommend this series to others to give a try, preferably starting with book 1. I wouldn't expect anyone to have their worlds changed but it's a really quality written story with interesting characters and creative storylines and without hesitation I'm off to purchase the next family members story.

Ps. If the whole escort/fake boyfriend trope isn't your thing I'll understand if you wouldn't take a second look at this story. However it's not normally something that pulls me in either but it wasn't so bad here, I'm not super educated on escorts and what they do but I thought that his job was more a fake date sort of arrangement for people who have lied to their families/friends about dating someone, i always thought escorts did more one on one dates for people who were lonely too and just needed the company but by the sounds of things Aaron only did fake dates at special occasions type thing. I could be wrong about the extent of what he did and I'm not exactly educated on the escort business to make this comment but i really wasn't bothered by Aaron's job in the slightest even the thought of him continuing on after the couples HEA. He never did more than look affectionate in public for the act and give them a kiss on the cheek as a goodbye when they were alone. I just wanted to clarify because some people might be put off by it and there's really no need.

Per me 4 coccole

Alla prossima, la vostra Aylen.

I'm surprised this book has less than 200 raitings. It was wonderful!
We're meeting the Carlisles again, this time Jackson is central part of the story. He's a makeup artist and dating bad guys and gals. Not bad as in badass, but bad as in 'those relationships is unhealthy'. After he breaks up with his cheating boyfriend and couldn't hear any questions about his relationship status from his family he (with the help of his sister) decides to hire himself a boyfriend for vacation. And oh, boy! That escalated so quickly!
I really liked that the author didn't make escorting weird and honestly this book is like a breath of fresh air after me reading Gregory Ashe and Cole McCade with all the angst and whole lot of a tw.
I loved Jackson and Aaron together, all the quirkiness and tenderness between them. They made me smile and even though this book isn't long they totally stole my heart. I love them and Meg Harding! Hopefully I'll read next book soon, idk why I didn't read it sooner!

Very sweet

The only thing I'm a bit annoyed at is all these characters ages like they're so old (like 30+) ew
I have said it before in reviews but yeah I'm not into characters that are either v much younger or much older than me ,, like optimal age that I like to read about is 18-22 (17 is fine and I'll even go up to like 25) but after that it's a bit hard to relate to the characters

Idk but yeah , will read the other books in the series tho bc its a solid series I think

Also side note: it's always nice to get some bi rep in books (the main character is bi) and to have some norm breaking like how he wears makeup (I think more ppl who identify as male should wear makeup bc like makeup doesn't have a gender , even tho society desperately wants u to think that) and also I'm all for feminine guys and masculine gals like femininity and masculinity shouldn't have anything to do with gender or sexuality or anything,, let everyone be who they are
