But meeting the most arrogant, infuriating, and sexy man will turn her world upside down. Because not only is Cooper Simon out of her league, he’d never be interested in someone like her. JACK: One night with the wrong woman can change your life…. Jack Simon’s road to the White House has been a smooth one until a night with the notorious Donovan Jams becomes a roadblock he can’t escape. Suddenly he’s America’s number one story and it has nothing to do with politics. Jack’s tangled with this woman before and knows they’re no good together. The only thing they are good for is a four letter word…hurt. He should get on with his life and concentrate on his job. Donovan James, international singing sensation, has made her living singing songs about heartache and pain, two things she grew up on. MAVERICK: The woman he never saw coming is the woman who rocked his world…Maverick Simon lost his mojo somewhere between the last film he scored and a nasty break-up with one of Hollywood’s elite. Burnt out, a vacation is just what this California boy needs. His brother’s empty house in Maine offers the perfect sanctuary. But plans go awry when he meets a woman who rocks his world in more ways than one. She’s not his usual type—she’s edgy, opinionated, and downright rude. But something about the prickly Charlie Samuels sparks his interest. Maverick must decide if that something is exactly what he needs, or if the smokin’ hot chemistry they share is nothing more than a vacation fling…
Charlie Samuels had always dreamed of leaving her small New England town for something bigger. But that dream disappeared the day her father died, leaving her to raise her younger brother and keep the family business afloat. Now a mechanic, she’s knee deep in grease and oil, and with a pile of bills to pay, has no time for someone like Maverick Simon—a guy who’s just passing through. She can’t deny the tall, brooding, sexy-as-sin, Maverick, causes her pulse to race, but she knows that he’s way out of her league.
I would give the storylines and the characters 5 stars.
However, the grammatical errors, the typos and the author not knowing that MIT, the great engineering school, is NOT the MICHIGAN Institute of Technology are overwhelming and examples of a 1 star or -1 star manuscript.
Examples:
Author needs to learn when to use "to" and when "too" is needed and the difference between its and it's. It's NOT "Look's like," but should be Looks like...as in "It looks like..."
The use of "this here" and "that there" isn't what I'd expect from characters with Ivy League educations. One character is supposedly a famous author, and he says "there's more conversation in that there Planet of the Apes movie..."
And this sentence....." ...you would have went to high school with her." Would have WENT ?? Really? This is from a female character who got a full ride scholarship to MIT and was about to be a senior when she'd had to drop out???
"She used to run the pep ralley's". NO,NO, NO....not possessive....just plural- rallies.
There are other typos/omissions that need closer proofreading: "how are you parents?" "He bee thinking..."
This sort of sloppy editing is simply unacceptable to me for a published author.
I hope Ms Stone will hire much better proofreaders and editors. She has wonderful plot lines and builds great characters. Now she needs all of that to be in correct English.
I waited a long time to read the 2d box set of Family Simon. I was not disappointed and now I wonder, why I waited so long. Don't wait, enjoy the rest of the family. Now I would love an updated novel on the whole family and what they have been up to.What does everyone think of that? There's a lot more to know in that family.
Eh, this was okay. Way to high on the 'woe is me' sappy factor. While I felt really bad for Tucker and his 'missing wife' situation, his overly depressed and needing to sleep his way through the bimbo's of New York was a bit over the top..grieving my ass.
Abby was the typical 'fall head over heels in love the very first time she meets Tucker' character. Hre secret love and devotion to Tucker was quite frankly disgusting and just a bit pathetic. Its totally okay to fall in love but this was just instalove at its finest, though only from Abby's standpoint. What I truly dislike about female characters like Abby is the fact that they will pretend and lie to themselves and their love interest just to get some of their attention...again pathetic. I totally agreed with Betty Jo, Abby needed to own up to her feelings instead of playing games which she was totally doing by flirting with Tucker's cousin. You're an adult, act like it.
Overall it was a passable read, way to much family involvment which can get tedious at times and the main characters left much to be desired but it was okay, nonetheless.
2) Jack 3.5 Stars
This was marginally better than book one, though for the life of me I just don't understand why females like Donovan always make a perfectly salvageable situation so much fucking worse? Why let someone so insignificant ruin what could have been a beautiful relationship and subsequently marriage. Though things ended on that note anyway which just means Donovan and Jack were just meant to be, all of that could have been avoided had she manned up and told him what happened. It was obvious that Derek did something wrong, sometimes you have to bite the bullet and call people's bluff...stupid woman.
3) Maverick 4 Stars
Well so far this is my favorite book in this series. While it wasn't heart stopping good, it was a nice, sweet love story, with some curve balls thrown in...Rick and Charlie were super predictable in their relationship but they were good for each other so their story was a bit interesting.
The two things that did stand out in this book were Connor and Teague. I won't elaborate but what happened to poor little Connor was just so sad, it was no wonder he withdrew into himself. Teague, on the other hand has always been intriguing. I would definitely like to pick up his book and find out more about this mysterious Simon.
This wasn't too bad and I did find it enjoyable enough to read. There were a couple of things I didn't like about it which have stopped me from rating it higher.
Book 1 thoughts: Abby is boring. All I can remember about her is that she's a bartender and does a good impression of a stunned mullet. She was always flustered and bumbling around Tucker and it got old fast. We get it you love him. Now show us why he should love you. *crickets*. Tucker was a bit more interesting at least with the whole . I didn't enjoy how when during an argument in a public place Tucker simply hoisted the bartender - I mean Abby - over his shoulder and carried her out. Not only is that embarrassing for Abby to be carried like a child but it was technically against her will. When will authors learn that a man can be 'alpha' without being an overbearing douchecanoe.
Book 2: Donovan and Jack's chemistry was palpable. Even with all their drama I felt they were meant to be with each other. It was slightly annoying how long Donovan's 'secret' was dragged out for. I was almost yelling "TELL HIM!" at my ereader. And it did seem weird to me that it was a revelation that . But both characters were likeable and the story kept me interested.
Book 3: Maverick was a nice guy. I liked how close he was to Donovan. And he and Charlie seemed like a good fit. It was particularly lovely to see how quickly Maverick accepted Charlie's brother.
I enjoyed the series! Tucker and Abby's story was intense. Just when they were in the same page and he felt okay moving forward they were thrown a curveball. They bounced back and they were able to move into the next phase of their relationship. I wanted more from this story. It never mentioned that they got engaged. Did Abby pursue her art career. Donovan and Jack were nerve wracking and seemed to be dead set on avoiding their feelings for each other. Secrets have a way of coming to the light no matter the length of time. Another intense couple, it was nice to see them work things out as well as start a family. Rick and Charlie were my fave. Mainly because they were complete opposites and she wasn't your traditional choice for a musician. I also loved how he fell in love with her brother. He opened up to both of them and accepted everything that came with that. I love that he also ended up helping her pursue her professional dreams. Every book was a solid read minus the use of Jesus h christ.
Glad I followed my instinct when I saw this come up on Book Bub I love family sagas and Juliana Stone hit this series out of the ball park. Book 1 deals with Tucker and Abby attending a family wedding in Florida and all the shenanigans that ensue are well played out whilst introducing you to the family. Needless to say there is a HEA. Book 2 deals with Jack and Donovan and their Story is equally as good including all the steam, love and angst you could wish for. This leads up to Book 3 with Maverick and Charlie playing the leads along with her traumatized young brother Connor. Again an excellent story that keeps you wondering right up to the end what happened to Connor. All is revealed and they join the others in a HEA. It may sound very simplistic the way I have laid it out however this is a true 3 ring circus and all the acts are terrific. Well worth the 5 Stars and I am off to find the next book in this series!
Read all the three books in the series. Out of the three books, 'Jack' was my favourite.
In case of 'Tucker', though I loved Abby's character, Tucker's character appeared to be dumb and he acted as a person who couldn't process his thoughts well. Overall, the narration worked fine for me. But the ending scenes were a bit a rushed.
In the second book, I loved Donovan's character. She is the type of woman who puts on a brave face but on the inside is severely hurt due to past incidences. Jack's character is the typical 'alpha' male character where he thinks he has got everything right, the know-it-all kind. I love books where I can connect with the characters on an emotional level and this was one of those books.
The third book, 'Maverick' falls somewhere between the other two books, neither is it bad nor good. It has got a strong female protagonist and I loved everything about her.
This set of books was more than worth reading. The stories are written with thought, the characters believable, and each of the three books has a storyline that could really happen. Being well off financially does not make for a happy life, and the Family Simon gives a good look at what could be the reality of a relationship between two people, their families, and the reality of being big news. Celebrities and the upperclass rich people have all the same things to deal with as the middle class commoner, but add cameras and questions and people looking to get a story. Not always easy to manage, but the Simon clan seem to push thru and get where they need to be. A great read!
On a side note, for those with ocd about editing, you will find a fair bit of errors and minor mistakes occur throughout the pages. If you can look past the small flaws in editing you will enjoy this read!
Its been a while since I've enjoyed a book as much as it did this one. I instantly fell in love with the Simon family and couldnt stop reading until I finished all 3 stories. I am completely taken by these gorgeous men and their complexed love lives...cant wait to purchase the other three...extremely good job Juliana. Youve painted a picture of this family in my mind and have me salivating for the next instalments of the family Simon
Too hot & steamy. I don't get why an author or publishing house would take such great characters and plots, and lose them in favor of sex. Book one & three were better. Book two was hot and steamy almost cover to cover.
Although, I would like to find out what happened to the other family members, I will just have to pass. I just want to pass on an opinion. Having a guy so horny he takes you against a wall, is NOT hot.
5 stars times three I just finished this, and really enjoyed the depth of characters, and the strong storylines of each book. There were several typos in the version I read, but even those didn’t detract from my obsession with reading my way through all three stories in less than 3 days! I heartily recommend!
Liked all three stories. Tucker and Maverick's were both good, but Jack and Donnavan's story was really emotional and I couldn't put it down. The editing could have been better though.
I am so in love with this series!! I could not put them down. The Simons are a treat. I really enjoyed reading about each couple. This series was exciting, funny and sexy. I can not wait to read four, five, and six.
I just loved it!!! I can't get enough of these guys. Their love for family is astronomical. These guys are broken and each has found women to fix them. When they love....they love for real. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I love books by Juliana Stone because they are filled with wonderful characters and storylines that make you feel good. The romance is steamy and the stories are very well written. I would recommend her books to everyone.
They never stay in Fisherman’s Landing...that is how Charlie sees it. Life throws curveballs and she’s always there to catch them...but who’s going to catch her? A great story about love, family and new beginnings.
I really enjoyed these books and read non stop for three days. They are all complete stories with happy ever afters. I highly recommend this boxed set and looking forward to reading more in this series.
Three guys from a Kennedy like family. They all meet beautiful, strong, talented women & claw onto bachelor hood until they get a wake up call. Entertaining.
Loved it! I mean in a way that this series just became my new crack. What isn't to love? Handsome and strong men who have actual feelings, sexy and strong women who go after the men they want? All sorts of drama, but it isn't overpowering in taking over the story, after all, we are dealing with adults and not children here
The stories aren't too long, but not too short. They are complete in and of themselves, and the only thing they leave you with is a desire to read about the next Simon to take the fall
Did I mention I loved it? Checked out when the next were coming made sure to add it so I don't miss them as soon as I finished. Tucker, Jack and Maverick were just darn near perfect stories and can't wait for more Simon's!
The Family Simon is a series of books written about the brothers and cousins surnamed Simon The first book is about Tucker The second about his brother Jack and the third is about the cousin Maverick Each book is a standalone however the characters are mentioned in all the books The books are about how the heros meet their partners and the problems and emotional issues they have to overcome I must say that Miss Juliana Stone though she writes about the wealthy has written in a manner that the stories are believable and are not implausible. I feel that her writing has improved and I liked book 3 the best of the 3 books I will definitely buy the books 4-6 especially as her books are reasonably priced
All three books in this series were riveting they overlapped but were each very different in their stories. Loved it. Can't wait to meet the rest of the Simons
I love this family! From their strong mothers to the lost, wayward sons and daughters and their redemption through their significant others. The characters are solidly well written. They are flawed but hopefull. It is a great read when they interact with each other. Read one book and you are hooked!
I loved this series. I really enjoyed reading about the Simons. It was exciting, emotional, and sexy. If you are looking for something really good to read and relax, this is your book. Absolutely, hands down one of the best series I have read in a long time. I read books one thru three and then four thru six and was not disappointed.
