L.S. Bergman writes by way of Sean Jones, “Experiences, good and bad, even the downright ugly give this life texture and make it what it is. A full life.” These are words to live by as Second Chances are words to Love by. Chance. Destiny. Fate. Kismet. Bergman packs a wallop with this powerful novella. Sean and his love interest Dawn Banks, written from both their POVs, come together in the real and virtual (unknowingly) world. Sparks fly and their heat sizzles: a thunderbolt, to be sure, but this tasty novella is so much more.
Second Chances gets at the heart in so many ways and on so many levels. The author does a bang-up job of capturing her protagonists' inner chatter/turmoil and the vividness of their wickedly sensual relationship, actions, and authentic dialogue. All of which make the story plausible and believable. Quite a task. On a literary level, this tiny tome is mad descriptive with solid character-building and a pacing that keeps you turning pages until the end, asking for just one more, please.
Here’s a tempting morsel. “This thing between us felt illicit, out of control, indulgent yet...necessary.”
Bergman even manages a complex and engaging supporting cast with the X, Keith, the kids, Rob and Anya, BFFs, and an extended family. The only downside is that it comes to an end, as all good things do. But wait. There may be follow-up in the next book, Lucid Dreaming. Even the title calls.
