Excellent short story about the years between the author's Treasures of the Nile books, Pharaoh's daughter, which takes place at the time of Moses's birth and Miriam, which takes place at the Exodus. I enjoyed the speculation on why Moses killed the Egyptian guard who was being the Hebrew slave. Such a great way to bring the scriptures to life! I would definitely recommend reading the before and after books from this series to better understand the characters. Great Biblical fiction!

This short story is an interlude between Books 1 and 2 of the Treasures of the Nile series and covers the period from Mehy aka Moses' assignment to Nubia and his flight after killing one of the Egyptian guards who is beating one of the Hebrews. It is filled with fast paced action and is an enjoyable short story.

This prequel to Miriam of the Treasures of the Nile series, tells the story of Moses/Mehy prior to fleeing from Egypt. It has been 9 years since Mehy is stationed at Buhen Fortress in the heart of the Cushite tribal lands - Egypt's fartherst southern border. Finally, one day, Mehy is summoned to return to Luxor Egypt for Pharaoh Horemheb's crossing-over ceremony. Unfortunately his return set in motion a chain of events that eventually forces him to flee Egypt.

This short story is a perfect transition from Pharaoh's Daughter to Miriam. Once again, Mesu Andrews did an excellent job in blending fact and fiction in this story and I enjoyed every page of it! It’s a wonderful read!
