Belle Calhoune writes heartwarming, inspirational romance novels set in small, cozy towns. Married to her college sweetheart and living in southern Connecticut, she is the mother of two girls. Born and raised in Massachusetts, she is one of five children. Growing up across the street from a public library allowed her to become an avid reader who aspired to be a romance writer. When she isn't writing, she enjoys reading, spending time in Cape Cod, traveling and enjoying time with friends and family. Belle hopes her books will provide readers with inspiration, entertainment and an escape from day to day life.
Went from neutral hating each other to over the top in love in a very short period of time. some of the end was really over the top in love, and a lot of loose ends.
"Falling in Love" was an amazing tale about two unlikely people finding love when they least expected it. I know that a lot of stories have this same backdrop; however, Ms. Calhoune always adds a little flair with a twist to keep your interest going back before.
Charlotte and Marc have had a trying past together, without ever coming in contact with each other. Through a heartache of a death, Marc had reached out to find love in a place that he shouldn't have- in Charlotte's brothers relationship. Now he's back in Savannah, after leaving for penance of this faults, and he's falling hard and fast for the one person he can never be with. Time will tell if the past can be forgotten about and life can heal old wounds.
I thoroughly enjoy Ms. Calhoune's novels for they are always uplifting and encouraging with just enough romance to keep a spark in your eye about finding love this side of Heaven. I have read a series of Ms. Calhoune's before that way 8 novels long, and I look forward to reading this new series that is a spin off from one of her previous works.
Charlotte Duvall is Callie's cousin and Case's sister. She co-owns Savannah House, a bed and breakfast, with five of her friends. Callie does the accounting and bookkeeping, Morgan is the chef and Fancy does the home interior designing/decorating. Olivia was going to be responsible for the hospitality and public relations part of the business, but things were going so well that it became obvious tending to the guests was a full-time job in itself. Charlotte wasn't sure what role she would play, but then she knew she had a good head for marketing and publicity, so she took over the PR aspect of the business. This book starts with Miss Hattie's attorney coming to deliver some bad news. It seems there's a young man who claims to be heir to Savannah House. He claims he's Hattie's grandson. That just couldn't be. The six girls grew up with Miss Hattie as their mentor and friend. She'd told them about her first and only true love, Samuel, who died in World War II. She'd never been married and never mentioned having a child. This had to be a mistake...this guy had to just be out for their money or some publicity or something. The attorney advises they hire a private investigator and an attorney who specializes in such cases. Callie remembers Parker Donahue, the cousin of her brother Mac, who tracked her down and helped put them in touch again. Parker was otherwise engaged though, but he gave her the name of a local investigator with a good reputation. He wasn't unknown to the ladies though. Mark was the friend Fancy had confided in which ultimately destroyed her relationship with Case. They'd gotten back together and Case had forgiven Fancy, but they were about to be married. How would he feel if he knew the ladies were retaining his services? And Charlotte objected to working with him because she and Case had a really strong bond, and anyone who hurt her brother as much as Mark had was no friend of hers. But they needed help and they needed it bad. Sparks fly when Charlotte and Mark begin to get to know each other, but due to a traumatic event a few years back, Charlotte sees herself as damaged goods and has a terribly low self-esteem. Can Mark get past that? Can he show her he really does believe she's beautiful and lovable? And can she accept the fact that Mark isn't the villain she wants to believe he is because of the past relationship with her brother? Forgiveness runs strong through this story as well, but there's also the theme of coming to accept oneself, coming to believe that you do have worth, when for years maybe you didn't believe you were worth anything. Some of these struggles hit home in my own personal life, so I found myself relating to Charlotte thus far more than I have any of the other ladies. As usual, the way things ended was beautiful.
Charlotte, one of 6 friends who own an inn together, wonders when she will find her "Mr. Right" as her brother's wedding (to one of her friends and co-owners) approaches. The owners also learn that a man is contesting the will that awarded them the inn. The girls want to hire a cousin of one of them, but he's got too big a workload and refers them to a local man who turns out to be the man who almost broke up the soon to be happy couple--something Charlotte has a hard time forgiving and forgetting--but as they spend time together, they find they are attracted to each other.
The characters are interesting, but there are a lot of peripheral ones and I found it hard to keep them all straight and remember who was paired with whom. Probably because I haven't read the previous books in this series to have the background. The plot is well written and focuses on areas outside of the budding romance too.
This was a great story about not judging people because you don't know where to they came from. Some really wise statements were made that were uplifting. On the down side, I was really enjoying this story when all of a sudden it's over, ending with sugary fluffy stuff, and the mystery didn't get solved.
Charlotte's horror of sexual abuse could have ruined her life. Then she met Marc and fell in love. Marc built her up and made her see herself as the strong, beautiful lady she is. God brought them together and used unfortunate circumstances to show how great His love is and how He watches over us in all situations. Lovely book.
Although I'm not a religious person, I understand the concept under which it was written. The story was very well told and dialog was fluid and easy to follow. The writer has a gift for telling a story involving all sorts of personalities and holding true to tenets dear to their life. Living thru tragedy and rebuilding of life will work for those who persevere.
A VERY delightful tale about misjudging people, finding self-worth, forgiveness, overcoming tragic events, and a great deal of love. I always enjoy Ms. Calhounes's stories, and I need to read more of this series!
This was a wholesome sweet story. I enjoyed the dynamic of the relationship they built. However, it was a little cheesy and rushed on the end. That was a bit disappointing. For that reason I gave 4 not 5 stars.
Women who inherit a house from their mentor find themselves in s quandary as some comes forward to challenge the will disperse meant. Quote a mix of friends who each have their own circumstances that they are working through. Love the characters!
Enchanting! Endearing! Wonderfully Sweet! Charlotte's story is finally written! This is a story of preconceived notions and judgements, and the importance of not only forgiving others, but also forgiving yourself. Charlotte has to face her fears, her insecurities, and her low self-esteem. Belle Calhoune is truly a talented writer, and these novels are hard to put down! Her characters are endearing, especially Lucien Cabron who is Marc's father. My favorite quote about him is: "he forgave himself as heartily as he forgave others." This is such a wonderfully sweet series!!!
I love this series, and like the other books in the series Charlotte Duvall and Marc Cabron story did not disappoint. From previous books you know that Marc was the reason Fanny and Charlotte’s brother Case, called off there engagement. So when Marc arrives back in town and the girls need his help, Charlotte tries to run him off. The past is a powerful enemy, can Charlotte find it in her heart to forgive Marc and embrace the future or will she remain chained to her past? The answer lays within the pages of Falling In Love.
I read this in one night, it was just too hard to put down. So, looking forward to Hope’s story.
Charlottes story is truly amazing. The awful thing that happened to her has effected life terribly. When Marc comes back to town she is really upset. Watching there relationship change is wonderful. The characters in this book are all very special people. You will feel God working throughout this whole book. This book deserves a higher rating than a five star review.
I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE this series. The storylines are gr8....and I love how the characters are in each book. I am looking forward to reading the next book.....and I already hate that it's the last of the series.
Falling in Love: Secrets of Savannah Book 5 is by Belle Calhoune. It continues the series about the six girls who inherit Savannah House from Miss Hattie Alexander. Miss Hattie had played a huge part in their girlhood and they decided to honor her request to reopen Savannah house. Charlotte Duvall had always been a shy girl. She decided when Callie was adopted into the family that she would be kind if she wasn’t beautiful like Callie. She was very protective of her brother Case when he and Fancy broke up. This caused a rift in the friendship of the girls but when Fancy returned to take up her portion of the inheritance, she and Case reunited. Charlotte then became protective of their union. This became very evident when the girls had to hire someone to look into the past of Grayson Holloway who has put in a claim on Miss Hettie’s estate. He claims to be her grandson. Against Charlotte’s wishes, they hire Marc Cabron to investigate him. Marc was the man who came between Case and Fancy. Can she put aside her mistrust of him to allow him to investigate for them? What about Case, will he accept Marc’s participation in the search?
