Jessica Brennan's world falls apart when her father is lost at sea. The death of her mother soon after is almost too much to bear. Then Jess learns that the family business is in ruins, and there are further blows to come.
Suddenly a young woman who has known only comfort and security finds herself alone and friendless. But Jess is a fighter and in her darkest hour she finds the strength she needs to start again. Tragedy, however, is just around the corner...
Lyn Andrews is one of the the UK's top one hundred paper-back bestsellers. Born and brought up in Liverpool, she is the daughter of a policeman who also married a policeman. After becoming the mother of triplets, she took some time off from her writing whilst she raised her children. Shortlisted for the romantic Novelists' Association Award in 1993, she has now written twenty-one hugely successful novels. Lyn Andrews divides her time between Merseyside and Ireland.
This was a good book about Jess who has to fight for survival when she loses her parents and her fortune. I like how she stays strong and never gives up.
A historical fiction saga set in Liverpool. Jess has a good life, a nice home and loving parents. In a short space of time all that changes. Jess's father is killed at sea, then her mother tragically looses her life in an accident. Her brother, Patrick, is no help and because of circumstances out of her control, Jess finds herself without a home and no money to support herself. Eventually, Jess gets back on her feet, she even succeeds in running a business, then Patrick comes back into her life. This is probably the gritiest book I have read by Lyn Andrews, a really good story, fast moving and gripping, a real page turner for me.
