The witches of Etlantium are charged with keeping the children of Liliah safe, but when an oracle accuses the ruler of seeking to destroy his own city through civil war, there is only one witch brave enough to do what must be done.
Readers of Water Witch will find this background story full of historical intrigue, enchantment, and old world mythology and legends with just a dose of reincarnation theory thrown in. Seeds of the Soul is the beginning of an epic fantasy series for all ages but is recommended for those readers over 16.
Thea is a NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY Bestselling Author. She used to have a black lab at her feet when she wrote, warming up the calves. It can be cold in rural Nova Scotia. Now it's just a cuppa tea keeping her warm.
Her urban fantasy pulses with dark themes and action-packed intrigue. Her characters are always deeply wounded creatures struggling for redemption.

As a prequel, there is enough intrigue to pull me into the civil war that separates so many from the ones who dedicate their life to keeping their people safe. But during war, faith is always hard to come by.
I've bought the entire Witches of Etlantium series, and it's just begging to be read. I'm excited to learn more about each witch, their powers, and what imbalances they must adjust. And who believes in the prophecy still, or is there a new prophecy come to fulfill. And will Audren's daughter be strong enough to take her mother's place.
If you love witches, their struggling empires that only they seem to defend wholeheartedly, then get into this series.
Another back story, this time for the witches of Etlantium. A fascinating story full of mythology and how the tale begun. Again my only problem wit it was that it's too short. It's a thoroughly enjoyable short read though that makes you want more.....
This was a short book- a prequel. The story itself was kind of interesting and I would like to read on to the next books to find out what happens next!! Sounds good!!!
This is a short prequel to a book series (which I haven't read). Way too much goes unexplained; I had pretty much no idea what was going on. Also, there are numerous typos; it needed to be proofread.
Fantasy isn't really my genre, but I love Thea's blog and decided to give this short story she had up for grabs a couple of days ago. It's well told, builds tension nicely, but I found myself a bit lost for the first third. The actual situation, and the source of the story's tension, didn't become quite clear to me until the second half, which was rather a pity, because much more of the sisters' relationship would've made more sense if I'd understood what the stakes were from the start. Still, it's a powerful example of worldbuilding in few words, and I like the concept of this Greek-Egyptian-Atlantis mix.
A short story of complex fantasy reminiscent of ancient mythology peopled with deities, witches and temptresses gifted, or cursed, with a sacred task. As with any complex fantasy tale you need to become familiar with strange terminology before being able to fully appreciate the intricacies, but persevere and you are rewarded with a richly-filled and told tale that ends on a cliff-hanger and is a precursor to Atkinson’s novel Water witch.
Seeds of the soul certainly makes you want to delve into the novels that follow on from it.
This review is from: Seeds of the Soul (a fantasy short story: prequel to Water Witch) (Witches of Etlantium Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
Fantasy is not my usual read, I found this book rather confusing and the storyline seemed unclear to this reader. The writing is excellent, the two sisters were introduced well but not in great enough detail to understand the plot line. Perhaps if I was more familiar with the genre, it would have made more sense to this reader.
I really enjoy this authors Vampire Addictions series.
Seeds of the Soul (Tales from Etlantium #1) by Thea Atkinson is a short story used as a prequel to the Water Witches Series. The story is intriguing but leaves the reader a little lost in the end but maybe that is the intent. I love her other books so this may be a way to entice the reader in to see what is awaiting the three sister witches.
This was a very short introduction to the series. Having not read the series yet, it takes a bit getting used to, but I am very interested to know more about this world and the characters in it.
This had so much info packed into such a small story. I can see that there will be such a great big world full of adventure in this series and I can't wait to read it all!
Ms. Atkinson is able to create a whole new world full of action & awesome characters in a very story. Another great read that leaves you wanting to continue the saga!
