Zenobia had it all: immeasurable wealth and the love of thousands. She was her father's heir and the best warrior in their realm. In the King's desire of wanting the best for his people, he invited the enemy to make peace which shattered her world, forever . Her family was slaughtered, her people put in chains, and their wealth stolen. To put insult on top of injury, Zenobia was taken to be presented as a gift to the high and mighty King Alexander, King of the Spartans. For the sake of her people, she is forced to feed his sexual appetite whenever he commands for her presence. However, Zenobia will never forget that she is warrior Princess of Ethiopia. If Alexander thinks she going to willing lays on her back and spreads her legs, this Spartan has another thing coming.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book and story it told. The Sparta and Greek gods referenced in the book. How strong Zen was in the story. She was the epitome of a real woman. This is a definite read!
Totally enjoyed this book. The chemistry between the characters and all was amazing. I liked how the author was able to show how wise and strong women were evem during that era. This book was I'm my head an Alexsander the great novel. Really loved it and would recommend it
So after reading Hearts Conquest: A Viking Romance I was hyped to polish off Captive Bride..... I was so disappointed. It was hard to even finish this book because I couldn't get past the " yeah I'm going to respond sexually to & fall in love with my captor & rapist BS" WTF!!! It went downhill from there for me. I found it dark, dreary and somewhat nauseating. It even ended sadly with Alexander's death..understandably so but as cornball as it sounds we look for that HEA regardless esp. in this genre. I had purchased both books but I won't be reading Philomenas' story after all & will delete both from my library. Bummer...😡
Loved this book! The ending was heart breaking. I could of read more on this storyline. There were some time where the author could of pulled more emotional connection out of Zenobia feelings but I suppose you can't have everything. I loved the betrayal of the Alpha Prince to King Alexander.
Love Zenobia, not only was she Beautiful, but smart as well. Didn't matter she was enslaved , she tamed her mate in Alexander. There love was fated, but between to strong Stubborn individuals you are always gonna have problems. A must read and entertaining book
I liked it. It had a touch of history and I enjoyed the glimpse we got into Zen’s life as a princess, before she was captured. She bought to a foreign country and becomes the sex slave of King Alex. Didn’t really like the back and forth, but overall it was nice.
this thriller had twists and turns in each chapter. It kept me on edge and captivated the whole time. I would definitely recommend this to readers who love a good romance thriller.
This is not my usual kind of novel. However since I am a history buff, I was intrigued by the mention of Sparta. I found it to be very romantic and highly entertaining. I will probably read the next book in this series. No Sweat
I've read several books by this young writing ingenue but this one is the one that I can honestly say I've read through a total of 3 times. The writing, the imagery, the characters are ones that I will still remember for years to come. Ms. Andromeda took my immense love of historical figures, strong African American women, and meshed the two together so effortlessly it took me a minute to realize that I WASN"T Zenobia and that I wasn't in fact grieving a loss. I love the way that she described the jungles of Africa, the reverence that Zenobia paid to her homeland, people, and their ways. The love that was exhibited between her and her father in the small scene that we were able to witness brought a tear to my eyes and yet that wasn't the last time that I had tears wash my face while I continued to read. Alexander initially came off as over-confident, extra brash, and careless of women and their feelings but we saw a change began to take place the moment that Zenobia CRASHED into his universe. I won't give the story away but know that when a strong woman capsizes the universe of an equally strong man then things are bound to happen. Ms. Andromeda wrote this tale in the style of one who has been writing for decades. The wisdom that she possesses and the level of talent left me in awe. I can't wait to read what is next for us from the pen of Ms Andromeda because one thing I know is that I won't be disappointed!! GREAT JOB Ms. Andromeda!!!
First I'd like to say that I'm a hard critic when it comes to historical fiction. It is my favorite genre and my opinion comes from years of reading historical fiction. With this being said, I wanted very much for this to be a good read. However, for me, the book fell short. I am convinced that for persons who aren't such fanatics the book would be a homerun. The historical facts were there that makes you feel as if this could have been happening during and/or before the march of the 300. I am giving two star because the plot could have worked if it was better written for the time period. Much of the language was too modern and some of the characters not developed believably. Hopefully the author will learn from this publication and improve with her next historical fiction. "Read Happily, Write with Inspiration, Live for the Promise of Adventure." -K. Faulk
Hooked from the beginning.. Heart torn apart at the end
Absolutely loved this story. It was wonderfully written. Although you do catch a typo from time to time. No matter, the quality of the story itself caused you to overlook it. Must admit the bullheadedness of Alexander and Zenobia started to get on my nerves at times. I found myself asking why they couldn't just love each other and move on. It broke my heart to see Alex die at the end. The moment Xerxes came on the scene, I knew this wasn't going to end well. For once, I wanted a story to deviate from history. I did find some solance in the knowledge that Alexander greeted Zenobia in the afterlife, but the pain is still there. Overall, I would read this story again.
I generally like my historical romances to have a little more historical accuracy. But my problem with this is, on what planet of Stockholm syndrome did the heroine have time to fall in love with him! When literally he terrorized her through the whole first half of the book. He couldn't even get his act together when she was having his children. Not to mention he was trying to force her to have more despite her telling him how difficult the first was. But did he care? No woman in her right mind would want that, he was a tyrant, it isn't sexy and (even borderline abusive). This whole story would have been a waste for me if not for the heroine being so likeable. 2.5
This books was an interesting story with an unique twist to history for your enjoyment. In this story we have Zenobia an Ethiopian princess who is stolen from her homeland and ends up in the clutches of Alexander the King of Sparta as his slave and property. Mayhem ensues with these two who fight each other at every turn. It was great seeing how Zenobia and Alexander go through their journey of self discovery as well as their realization that they care for each other more than they want to admit.
A strong warrior king meets a strong, intelligent, warrior princess. The author explicitly shows the battle of wills between Alexander the king and Zenobia the captive. You envision and feel the power struggle between Alexander and Zenobia and the consuming love Alexander has for Zenobia and Zenobia for Alexander. This book is well written, touching the betrayal, danger, pain, love and passion. You feel the great love of Alexander and Zenobia that expands time! You will be glad you read this book.
This was my first book by this author. I read this book on Kindle Unlimited.
This is Zenobia and Alexander's story. I loved the chemistry between the couple. Zenobia goes from being a Princess in her homeland to a slave, sex slave, warrior to Queen. This is one of the best historical romances that I have ever read. There were lots of twists turns and an unexpected ending.
I would recommend this book as a really great read.
2.7. The synopsis pulled me in. It seemed like Xena meets 300, but it had its own twists. The story plows through so there is no time to get to know the characters. With the choppy storyline, you blink and there is something else happening. Leaving you dazed and confused. There were times I liked and loathed Zen and Alex or should I say Leonidas his name kept changing. There is a lot of potential here, but more work needs to be applied to the story overall.
Literally, a hot mess. I mean, I guess if the CW can make Mary Queen of Scots look like a whiny teen, we can reduce the story of an Ethiopian queen and Alexander King of Sparta into baby mama drama.
This was very different from what I usually read and I really enjoyed this. I fell in love with the characters from the very beginning. Definitely looking forward to the second book.
Great story. Good character development. Excellent supporting characters. I loved Zenobia and Alexander love story. I don't like crying when reading a story as it will stay with me for awhile so thanks Andromeda for releasing my tears. Get this book!!!
