Refuse to Give Up

Rate this book
A hopeless romantic, Charlene Thomas is determined to find her Prince Charming, but all she seems to find are the gross frogs. After trying every imaginable way to meet eligible men, she’s trying Speed Dating. It’s lame, but she’s running out of ideas. The only dreamy guy she meets is pretentious as hell. Fate keeps throwing them together, and even though he’s not the one for her, maybe he’s meant to help her find her happily-ever-after.

Jackson Meyers is sick of dating boring women with no personality. He finally meets a girl who’s perfect, but she won’t give him the time of day. Lucky for him, he’s persistent, and when they strike a deal to help each other find their soulmates, he can’t help but say yes. He has no intention of giving up on her, but she doesn’t need to know that.

Stephanie Haefner is back with her second novella in Melody Anne's Billionaire Universe and this time round we get a sweet story of looking so hard for love that you miss it standing right in front of you. Even if it's a hot billionaire who is crazy for you.

One of my favourite things about this story is that the heroine Charlene is put off by the hero Jackson's wealth. Strange I know, but it made her more real and relatable. I loved that she stuck to her guns and didn't swoon over his money, quite the opposite and it's fun to see clueless Jackson struggle to understand why.

But Charlene doesn't stand a chance against the swoknworthy Jackson when he decides she is the one and the journey to their HEA is a fantastic read. Settle in to enjoy the ups and downs of their ride to happiness.

This can absolutely be read as a stand alone, but if you've read the first story you get to catch up with Jilly and Colin, which was fun. I hope that there is more to come from this author in this world. I can't to see what comes next.

Pros: great story line! Great flow, I didnt feel rushed or anything was left out. Loved seeing past characters ♡ Jackson was a doll. A bit misguided but so adorable. I love how he learned from his mistakes and did his best to adapt and make amends.

Con: the heroine... She was just too much. I loved her in the beginning, but then I really started to dislike her. Her character is stubborn, judgemental, unthoughtful, and selfish. Dont get me wrong she had some legitimate concerns at the start that had made sense, that anyone could make and feel. She could be cool and funny, but I personally would not have picked Charlene for Jackson. Her "issues" with Jackson being rich were over done and petty.

Many may not feel the same way but that is how i felt. I wanted to love this but i couldnt. I did like it and i did love the hero. I didnt find any errors in the writing and the author does a good job building the characters, except for the heroine.
