Wow, recommending thetruthaboutcancer.com as a great example of lead referral used as a successful income strategy? You mean the clikbaity website that opens by literally linking "Big Pharma" and Nazi death camps?
The website that preys on vulnerable people who in their desperation will listen to the message that "They" are hiding the truth?
The one that exists to support donation-soliciting "not-for-profit" alternative cancer treatment websites?
Not-for-profit sites like the ICRF? The Independent Cancer Research Foundation? The one run by Webster Kehr, creationist and all around charlatan? The same ICRF that promotes cancer "cures" by dentist "William D. Kelley"?
The catch: Kelley can only cure your cancer if you go to him first, before trying conventional therapies.
(text reads: His cure rate on newly diagnosed cancer patients, who went to him first, was over 90%. Compare his cure rate to the less than 3% true cure rate of orthodox medicine!!! Dr. Kelley used a natural type of cancer treatment called "metabolic therapy." By today's standards, metabolic therapy is no longer the most potent alternative cancer treatment, but it still works very well. The truth is that alternative cancer treatments, if properly chosen for the situation, are thirty-times more effective than orthodox cancer treatments (that is 90% divided by 3%). However, it is very, very important to understand that all of these statistics ONLY APPLY to newly diagnosed cancer patients.
Hung Pham and Matt Stone, I am disappointed you are promoting the benefits of making a living by creating business that prey on people this way. You extol
them as a great example:
"One site, www.thetruthaboutcancer.com, managed to draw over a million subscribers in just a few weeks with a similar approach. It works. And it’s a great way to create tons of mutually beneficial relationships with the leaders in your industry." (loc 663)
I find this morally unconscionable.

This is a very close companion book to Matt Stone's "QuitN6" series.
This book and the QuitN6 series are all FREE and very good introductions to making money online.
I especially appreciate the direct no-frills, no-BS style. That means if you are sensitive and have no sense of humor, then you probably won't like his style.
There is great advice in this book, specifically about Email list building and Blogging.

A bit rambly, but there's a lot of great information on what kinds of things you can do online to make money. He's pretty thorough, with a lot of insider information (like doing a service is a lot more taxing than some of the other methods he mentions). Definitely worth a read if you're looking for your own slice of digital freedom.

Basic Business Book
I wasn’t a fan of this book. Nothing I couldn’t have read in a blog post overview instead of a book. If these guys can get make money selling low quality books, then I definitely have a chance writing my own.

If you're curious about how people are making money online, this book not only explains how it's done, it makes a very good case for the practice. That said, this book is not a how-to manual. It bullets the essential elements of digital income and provides a few examples but leaves the detail research to the reader. While the authors acknowledge that earning a living online isn't for everyone, they also encourage out-of-the-box thinking for those who are interested in pursuing online income.

Great survey overview of workable ways to earning a living online
The first section by Pham is inspiring. The second section by Stone is a good introduction to a variety of ways to make money on the internet by someone who has actually done it.
