Wendigos don't have lips? And they can fly? And they hate tennis players?

Unfortunately, I found this book sickening and dull. It follows a girl being hunted by a Canadian monsters. Delving into anorexia issues and describing gruesomely gory scenes, this book is one to skip over. It is plain depression and lacks any action.

I read this book in high school and I wanted to see if it still had the ability to spook me if I were a 16 year old tennis player. I never played tennis, and I was not spooked, but a great paperback creeper.

For some reason I thought this was a winter story (probably confused it with Krampus), but this does take place during an unseasonably cold May in Canada. There is a body frozen in ice though.

Trigger warning for ED which was brought up a lot. I think the author was trying to compare the FMC’s hunger with that of the wendigo. To mixed results.

I could see what the author was trying to do with the wendigo legend but the execution just wasn’t there. This book dragged a lot. And I kept wondering why the two NYC girls were so willing to keep staying at the hotel. The wendigo tries to possess two of the characters.

The other FMC comes out as a lesbian but nothing is really done with this plot point. Overall just a depressing book.

It’s a pretty rare book. But not worth tracking down imo.

It was OK and did give me something to do while I was waiting for the power to come back. The holding winds also produced an eerie backdrop.

I wanted to really like this book. It was just boring overly long and tried to be deep. Idk teen tennis players and models mixed with wendigos was just a convoluted mess.
