For the first time in nearly 30 years the Bodega Bay Inn is open for business. Families, business men, and couples just looking to get away have flocked to the isolated ocean-side hotel. Even the puppets have been behaving under the guidance of Anthony. But some people just can t let a good thing last. VACANY collects issues 16-18 of the ongoing Puppet Master series!"
This is the first volume of the Puppet Master series that I didn't find great. It wasn't horrible, but I don't like the way the new plot developments at all. Things are quickly building to a climax, however, so hopefully the series redeems itself at the end.
An inn on the northern California coast is reopened, still inhabited by killer puppets. A human boy now has them under control, or so he thinks. This is the first of the series I’ve read, and unfortunately there’s no backstory included. Even the prologue doesn’t help. It isn’t till the main story starts that the main character explains about the inn, but it’s basically one long info drop with very little style. These puppets kill in the most gruesome ways. . . The ending makes it sound like more of the same, according to the puppets. No extras, and there’s nothing in the artwork that’s particularly noteworthy.
I've been a big fan of these movies since I was a kid, but didn't realize there were any comics until recently. I'm not sure what I was hoping for, but this wasn't it. Not that it was bad, I enjoyed and would buy another if I found one, but it was quite a bit different from the movies.
Five stars, again. Love this series and can not wait to read the next issue! Great storyline, graphics, characters, etc. A shame there's not more graphic novels RE: this particular franchise.
Another excellent entry in the Puppet Master comic book series, although the sudden turnaround in Anthony seemed to come from nowhere. Still, it was highly enjoyable.

This and the last volume feel incredibly rushed, pacing-wise. I'm still not sure what happened in some parts or what the connections between plot points were. But they finish the story in an entirely satisfactory way, and I'm glad they had a chance to finish that arc, even if it feels like they skipped a volume or two in telling it.
