Ashley needs a husband. Not in a week, not in a year. She needs a husband now if she's going to keep her lecherous stepfather from getting any of the fortune her mother left to her. There's only one person she knows who is powerful enough to take on her stepfather. Alex Farrell wanted her before and she's going to bet her life that he's still going to want her.
Except Alex Farrell wants so much more than her body. He wants her heart.
Mallory Crowe has lived in Michigan her whole life and has been in love with romance ever since she'd skip to the end of every novel, just to make sure the hero and heroine survived and ended up together. She lives with her husband and three dogs. When she's not writing, she's spending too much time in front of the TV, hiking, or working with various animal rescues.
The fourth book in the Fractured Farrells series by Mallory Crowe. Ashley Kõiv goes to Alex Farrell with a proposition - marriage. Seems her step-father Geoff Cameron wants her. Not just her money but her too. Geoff has seized control of all her finances. She needs to marry to get her inheritance and since she knew that Alex was once attracted to her and she him, he seems the obvious choice.
Another good addition to the series. But not my favorite. I liked Alex and Ashley a lot but I didn't care for the going back in time thing. Sure, I understand the reason for going back and seeing the events from the past but I still didn't like it. Still a good series!

REVIEW: RESTLESS is the fourth installment in Mallory Crowe’s contemporary, adult FRACTURED FARRELLS erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the billionaire Farrell siblings. This is youngest brother Alex Farrell, and Ashley Koiv’s story line. RESTLESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for backstory and cohesion I recommend reading the series in order as a number of the events in RESTLESS run parallel to the events of book 3-REMORSELESS. The Fractured Farrells is a spin off from Crowe’s Billionaires in the City series.
Told from several third person perspectives with present day and memories from the past RESTLESS focuses on the marriage of convenience between Ashley Koiv and Alex Farrell. Nine years earlier Ashley’s mother Nadia married Alex’s father Walter Farrell thus making our leading couple, along with Logan, Nathan and Robert Farrell, step-siblings but when her mother’s numerous affairs ended the marriage, Ashley was tossed out of the family along with her pride. Fast forward to present day wherein our now twenty four year old heroine is in desperate need of a husband to ensure her mother’s estate goes to the rightful heir and not the abusive man who is trying to destroy our heroine’s life. Enter Alex Farrell-the man Ashley has loved after most of her adult life-and the man who could help Ashley get what she deserves.
Nine years earlier Alex fell for the fifteen year old Ashley Koiv but as step-siblings and the fact that Alex was several years older forced Alex to make a decision and walk away from a potential disaster. Ashley’s mother continued her streak of marriage and divorce but dying under mysterious circumstances left her daughter Ashley in the hands of an emotionally abusive and controlling man. Ashley was in desperate need of help and offered herself up to Alex Farrell with all of the benefits of married life. When threats are made against Ashley and Alex, the Farrell siblings begin an investigation of their own only to discover that their father’s past discretions have resurfaced looking for revenge.
The relationship between Ashley and Alex is a rekindling friendship and romance with plenty of sexual tension, and the push and pull of want and need. Alex’s attraction to Ashley has never been questioned but his brother’s see something else with Ashley’s reappearance-a woman looking for money and to bring down the Farrell sibling. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive.
All of the Farrell siblings play secondary and supporting roles. There are two sources of conflict and threats against Ashley and Alex; one of a questionable nature with connections to Logan Farrell.
RESTLESS is an entertaining and riveting story line. The Fractured Farrells series takes an intimate look at one family’s struggle as they unravel their father’s dark secrets and links to the past. The premise is dramatic and entertaining; the characters are spirited and intense; the romance is sensual and fated. The epilogue fast forwards the series and story line approximately several months where we get a glimpse into the future. There is a short bonus scene that focuses on the search for the truth about a murdered journalist that may be part of the next story line or another spin off series.
Restless ~ Book #4 in the Fractured Farrells Series. ***4.25 Stars***
This is Alex's and Ashley's story. Alex is a very serious type of person, not one to let loose and have fun. When he was in his early twenties his father, Walter, remarried and this resulted in his new wife and her daughter moving into the Farrells' mansion. None of the sons liked the new wife and all but Alex didn't like the beautiful fifteen year old daughter. But dear Alex was strongly drawn to her. He fell for her but avoided her like the plague since she was just fifteen years old. He knew that he would be asking for trouble. Ashley was hurt deeply when Alex decided to move away from home. He felt he had to in order to keep his hands off of her because they both wanted each other. She was willing but Alex was not knowing she was way to young.
Now, nine years later, she has come back to the Farrells' mansion to ask Alex to marry her so she can access her inheritance and live under his protection. Since her mother passed away everything she has is controlled by her step-father. He is a tyrant and runs every aspect of her life wanting her for his wife.
I enjoyed this book and feel it had a bit of a different flavor than the others in this series. Not positive or negative, just a bit out of the ordinary that we have seen in books 1-3.
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I am bound by my own code of ethics to leave only an honest review that reflects my true feelings and opinions on the books I read. Another super read Mallory and I appreciate the honor of being an advanced reader. I am anxious for Nathan's story and counting the days.
I have read the first five books of this series and like them. They follow the pattern H/h meet, feel attraction, assault, they stick together, fall in love, solve the problem with the help of the family, HEA, a one page long epilogue, and end around 93% on kindle. The rest is preview of the next book in the series including a sneak peek. Books 2-4 are set about half a year after the first, book 5 four years later.
This book is about Ashley and Alexander and every other chapter is a flashback to their first encounter ten years ago. Unfortunately we don’t get more information on the history of Ashley’s current situation or why neither of them looked for the other one in all that time in spite of their mutual long-lasting crush. Another mystery remains how the ruined adulterer Tate Gallagher succeeded in becoming a billionaire within ten years although one should assume Walter Farrell having ruined him once before would prevent this.
An author should be well versed in the English language, not only speaking it but also using the proper form in writing. That includes the correct use of tense, i.g. if the novel is written in past tense action from the past must be referred to in past perfect: he knew Mr. X had left the house ten minutes ago. The same applies to orthography and interpunction. Maybe all these mistakes catch the eye of second-language speakers more because we have learnt the foreign language more by grammer rules and less by speaking. This author could use a good editor or proof reader because all of the afore mentioned points apply.
Another annoying part are the inconsistencies about the brothers’ degree of relationship and the timeline concerning wife number 4’s adultery and Logan’s stay in prison.
- Book 1 says: “ ..(Nathan) was the youngest of the four and had a different mother than the other three”. His mother was wife number 3 so I suppose the others were sons of wife number 1 or 2. - In book 2 we learn: “ Logan had a different mother than Robert…” - Nadia, the fourth wife had a fling ten years ago with the CEO of a software start-up which led to the immediate ruination of that company, insider trading and Logan’s conviction (book 3). - But Logan has been in prison now for only seven years (book 2).
Yet another good book by Mallory Crowe in the Fractured Farrells series. Alex and Ashley had known each other 9 years previously when their parents had been married, the author deals with this situation by writing a series of flashbacks. I'm not a fan of multiple flashbacks but it is done with care, ie. separate chapters, clearly marked with the date being addressed so that there is no confusion and it covers well the reason why they get together so quickly. I enjoyed the story, with its romance and danger and liked the characters (always a bonus). I look forward to reading more in this series. Recommended.
Whilst this is one in a series of books it can be read as a standalone. Warning: some strong language.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
This is the 4th book in an awesome series about the Farrells. Each story is a standalone and a different story. In this one, I think we see more of some of the other siblings. Ashley's mom left her money but she can't get her hands on it until she marries. Her stepdad wants her for himself and he's not a nice guy. She goes to Alex, the son of one of her mom's previous husbands, to see if he'll marry her. She's desperate but she's drawn to Alex because she has feelings for him.
Alex wants to help Ashley and he has feelings for her too. Their relationship quickly develops but there are, of course, challenges. Ashley's stepdad is trying to get his hands on her and an enemy of the Farrell's is trying to get his hands on Alex.
This story was fast-paced and well-developed. I'm excited to read the next book, but also sad because it's the last one.
This was a really great book. That's why I chose that rating. I really enjoyed all of the characters. All of the characters was in there from book one until now book four. No I really enjoyed Alex and Ashley . They are long-ago couple. They started out young, she left and then she came back. When and what she came back will really surprise you guys. You know there is always someone in the story where someone is trying to make someone do something they do not want to do, trying to hold something over their head. Anyway overall this was a really great book. The author didn't excellent job. Great read. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
I enjoyed Alex’s story. It was a quick read, so much so, I almost thought I skipped something in the middle. I felt like Alex and Ashley went well together and their relationship developed in a straightforward manner without misunderstandings or drama other than her step father and Gallagher from last book.
This is the fourth in the Fractured Farrells series, This book focuses on Alex and Ashley. Their parents (Walter Farrell - a true SOB and Nadia- a woman after what she can get without thoughts for others) were married for a short period nine years ago. Ashley was only 15 and off limits to Alex. However that did not stop the attraction between the two. But then the parents divorce and Ashley is gone from Alex's life. When she shows up out of the blue in the middle of the night at Alex's asking for help, he is unable to resist. Even though both of their parents are now dead, their choices in life are continuing to impact Alex and Ashley. As Alex assists Ashley, their attraction is undeniable and not forbidden.. I found myself becoming vested in their lives as I read this book.. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it as well as the other books by Mallory Crowe! I received this ARC for an honest review.
A love story from the beginning. Alex and Ashley first meet when Ashley's mom marries Alex''s father. She was 15, he was 21. The marriage only lasted a year, but sparks were flying between the two step siblings from the beginning. 9 years following the marriage of their parents, who had divorced and then each subsequently died, the two get back together. Ashleys is running from her mother's controlling last husband. Alex has someone gunning for him. Fate and circumstances bring their love to the front, showing that love does conquer all evil. Twists, turns, all converged to make a truly awesome read. LOVED it!!!
Ashley is desperate to escape the lecherous stepfather that controls her fortune until she marries, so she turns to billionaire Alex Farrell, the man she lost her heart to at fifteen. Alex has wanted her for years and now finally, she will be his. Their passion for each other, long held at bay, explodes in this riveting, sexy, romantic suspense story, and not everyone will survive the fallout.
I love this excellent series! Every new book is enriched by what came before. I know this family. I care about them. Mallory Crowe is an amazing storyteller. I devoured this book in one sitting and I can't wait to read Nathan's story. I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review and I loved it.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a honest review. I loved this book! It was hard to put down. I fell in love with the characters right away. Loving the characters is very important to me in a story! Alex Farrell and Ashley both fit the bill perfectly. This book grabs you and won't let you go until the very end. The story is wonderful! Definitely a must read!!!!! I have read Ruthless #1 and Restless #4 of the Fractured Farrell's series? I will most definitely be reading Reckless #2 and Remorseless #3 very soon!!!!! I have been very happy with all five of Mallory Crowe's books that I have read so far!
I have just reread this book after reading all of the Fractured Farrell's series. This series is fantastic! They are all so exciting! They have the best characters. Characters you want to love and root for. Others you want to hate. It would be very hard to pick a favorite, but I think this one would have to be it. I love the way she goes back and forth in the time. Usually this might confuse me, but not in this case. This helped so much to help me know how much Ashley and Alex meant to each other in their past. How they felt about each other even though they really didn't realize it. This series is definitely a must read! All of the books are on my favorites list now and I can't wait to hear Nathan's story. I know it won't disappoint!!!!! My only fear is that it will be the last one. I love hearing about this family. Are there anymore hidden family members out there? The Fractured Farrell's is a must read series!!!!!
This is an interesting and entertaining addition to the Farrell series. Ashley and Alex are very complex and engaging characters. This story is a bit different from the previous three but still really good. Received this ARC for free for an honest review.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is Volume 4 in Mallory Crowe’s FRACTURED FARRELLS series. This book can easily stand alone. However, to get the greatest understanding and pleasure from this series, I recommend that you read the other three books in order before reading this one.
This is the story of Alex, the older Farrell brother, and Ashley, who, for a short time, when she was fifteen, was his stepsister. At that time, both Ashley and Alex were already attracted to each other. Of course, at fifteen, Ashley was an innocent young girl who was just trying to adapt to living with these strangers that her mother married into. She did have a young girl’s crush on Alex who was friendly to her at this difficult time. Alex was also aware that Ashley was too young for him, and he put great effort into staying away from her..
The story actually begins when Ashley returns to the Farrell house to ask Alex to marry her. She needs to get hold of her inheritance which can only be accessed when she marries. Her proposal is spoken with great neediness but very little real emotion.
Alex agrees to marry Ashley when she explains part of the real reason, Alex, being the gentle, loving, protective alpha male that he is, he marries Ashley with the idea of making this a real marriage. As it turns out, Ashley a very independent person who has no intention of leaning on Alex even though, deep down inside, she also hopes to make this a normal marriage.
Both Alex and Ashley have had terrible childhoods. Both of their parents are selfish and, continually, hook up and marry people without thought to how it would affect their children.
Ms. Crowe does a fantastic job of using flashbacks to reveal Alex and Ashley’s relationship the first time they meet when Ashley was fifteen. It is because of this that the reader realizes that Alex is a good person who, at first, attempts to understand Ashley’s feelings at this difficult situation. We also realize how he feels about her and how hard he attempts to deny them.
This is a fantastic book with two fantastic characters and a plot filled with lots of action and angst. I couldn’t put it down until I finished the book.
A marriage of convenience sort of book between two former very brief step-siblings that is fairly light-hearted with just enough drama to make things interesting!
Restless is a marriage of convenience sort of book between two former step-siblings whose parents divorced many years ago after only one summer together. Their initial connection years ago was put on hiatus due to their age difference of the female lead being fifteen and the male lead twenty-two. While this is part of a series, be assured it can be read as a standalone. The book is fairly light-hearted with some tense moments and a little bit of drama that builds up throughout the book.
Alex and Ashley have an incredible connection and while their relationship develops as a result of a proposed marriage of convenience after Ashley’s sudden arrival back in Alex’s life, it is clear very quickly that their relationship isn’t quite as fake as planned. As the book evolves, flashbacks are incorporated in various chapters as a then and now example of Ashley and Alex’s relationship and their undeniable chemistry that is still there despite how many years have passed. The book is told from dual points of views mostly with an odd couple from other characters to move the story along.
Restless is well written with a steady pace and flow that worked exceptionally well given the history of the relationship that is explained between the two characters. Never at any point do things feel rushed, despite the circumstances of the plot. There was a good balance between building the romance between the characters and the tension that is running alongside the reasons they find themselves together which lead to a fairly dramatic final part of the book before the end. As I’ve already said, this can be read as a standalone with a sweet epilogue and HEA for Alex and Ashley.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
I received an ARC of this book. I voluntarily reviewed this book. This is my honest review.
Restless is the fourth book in the Fractured Farrells series, and although it is a stand-alone, it does help to read the first three books for the context of this story. The book also overlaps with Remorseless, a knowledge of which enhances this episode in the lives of the Farrells. I love all of Mallory Crowe's books, and this was not any different. My attention was caught from the first page, and kept me riveted to the end, at the expense of laundry, meal preparation and way past my bed time. I read the book in one day and was unable to put it down.
Alex and Ashley met when she was an underage teenagers at their parents' wedding and the sparks flew, although they didn't recognise the chemistry they had. The Farrell family was dysfunctional at best and Ashley's mother wasn't an asset. However, the connection made between Alex and Ashley at that time was honest and open, resulting in a subliminal trust of one another. When Ashley finds herself emotionally and physically trapped in a situation of her mother's making, she makes her escape to the one person she knows can help her. At first Alex is reluctant to participate in the offer she makes him, but as the truth is revealed, he knows that he cannot turn away from her. I was glad that Alex gave Ashley the acceptance she needed and that the chemistry between them was allowed to blossom. After the disasters following Walter Farrell's unique brand of parenting, I enjoyed seeing the Farrell siblings draw even closer together, supporting and having one another's backs. I highly recommend Restless.
I received a free copy of this title from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book is all about Alex and Ashley! This story begins with an extreme case of bad timing, with Ashley meeting Alex when their parents decide to get married. Although it was obvious that Walter Farrell's new wife was just the flavor of the month, Alex was abrupt and antagonistic with young Ashley, who had the bad luck to be Walter's new step daughter.
The book goes back and forth between the events of nine years ago, when Alex and Ashley first meet, and the present day when they meet up again because Ashley needs Alex's help. I really enjoyed learning about Ashley and Alex in small chunks from the past because it kept me wondering what had happened in the past to mold the future. Like any of the Fractured Farrells, watching Alex come to terms with the past so he could finally be happy was a true joy! And poor Ashley, having to follow her mother around from new stepfather to new stepfather... you truly yearn for her to have a stable family and a husband that can love and protect her.
I'd suggest reading any and all Mallory Crowe novels. Each one has such unique characters that they make you pull for the happily ever after and mourn the heartaches the characters face. I can't wait for the next installment!
When Ashley was fifteen her mom married Walter Farrell and she met his sons, Robert, Alex, and Nathan. She fell for Alex even though he was an adult and she was jail-bait. Now, two marriages later for her mom and adulthood for Ashley, when she needs help she seeks out her first crush, Alex.
A marriage proposal, death threats, kidnapping, forced obedience, death attempts, all normal happenings for Alex and Ashley, very recently, like yesterday and ongoing. Ashley's been carrying her torch for Alex since she moved into the house in CT. Now that she needs him it's time to let the flames loose. The only thing is...the torch goes both ways and the flames are hot enough to make the Chicago Fire look like a wiener roast in a charcoal grill.
Grab a bottle of wine, pull up a comfy chair, make sure you're wearing your fireproof underwear, and watch the fun begin. Who's out to off Alex, is Ashley going to be in the way? When is Jean ever going to have that baby? Is it a boy or girl? Alex got Logan out of prison, but will Logan acknowledge that, or him? If so,when? So many questions, so little time. What are you waiting for? Pick up your copy, find out what's going on. Join the Fractured Farrell's and all the rest of us keeping up with these gorgeous specimens and enjoy!! Got a free copy for an honest review.
Really , I can't get enough of these Farrells and I think Restless is the best story so far in the Fractured Farrell series that Mallory Crow has written. Immediately my intrest was captured and hold all the time. I couldn't put down this book and was hooked from the start . This story is all about Ashley & Alex (Farrell) I LOVED them both . Restless has a bit of everything in it . A great storyline, lots of suspense , unpredictable twists and turns and spicy sexy scenes , a love story wonderfully filled with lots of emotions that pulled on my heart strings. We got already a glimpse into Ashley & Alex characters in the previous book and I think they're just perfect for each other . But will Alex finally find his HEA with Ashley or not ?? To find this out , grab Restless now to read and you definitely won 't regret it . Mallory never ceases to amaze me with her writing skills , she has a way to capture and keep my attention from the very beginning and she has also the ability to tug at my heart the same time . Great job Mallory , this is another awesome must read that I devoured in no time ! Can 't wait to read Nathan's story . Already counting the days ...yeah ! Graciously provided as an ARC .
Ashley is the daughter of Nadia, Walter Farrell’s fourth wife. She spent one summer at the Farrell Connecticut beach house, which meant time with Alex. Alex Farrell, the third of the Farrell children. His summer in Connecticut was supposed to be one of peace and quiet, which would allow him to study and catch up on the semester that he took off. Now with Walter, Nadia, and Nadia’s 15 year old daughter in the house, it’s anything but.
Ashley and Alex had amazing chemistry when they were young. So much so that Alex knew he needed to leave so after a couple moments of sparks and one incident where things just about went too far, he moved out. Walter and Nadia got divorced as was expected, and Ashley left with her mother.
Fast forward nine years, Ashley is in trouble and she knows the only person she can count on to help is Alex. She has a crazy proposal and she just hopes that the chemistry that they shared was she was nothing more than a kid will be enough to convince him that they can make this work as adults.
This book moves fast and be ready to not want to put it down. I had it read in less than 24 hours from picking it up. Mallory Crowe’s books are absolutely worth the read and I look forward to everyone one of their release dates.
This is Alex Farrell's tale. He and Ashley had a history, and it was a major surprise for him to have her to show up in his life again.
This is a standalone book, but I think it can be better appreciated if you read the other books in the series. If nothing else, after you read Restless, you will want to go back and read about Jean and Colin, Robert and Malia, and Logan and Julie.
I really liked the fact that Ashley was steadfast in getting what she needed to survive. The Farrell's are so damaged, you can only imagine what Ashley was up against that would make her reach out to Alex.
There was one thing I didn't care for in the book, but it probably wouldn't bother anyone else. It definitely did not cause me to give less stars. At the beginning of the book, the first few chapters kept switching between nine years ago and current time. I know it was necessary to build the story, but since I was immediately caught up in the tale, it was a little frustrating to keep switching back and forth.
I would definitely recommend th his book. I read it on one rainy Saturday afternoon. Very enjoyable.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
So it's decided: Alex is my favorite Farrell!! I loved Ashley and Alex! And for their story, considering they knew each other for a long time, I thought the flashbacks were a great call and made us understand more about their relation, how they met, how their feelings started to grow and why they were somehow connected for so many years. Alex didn't have a good example for what a family is, but despite that he is fierce about protecting his ones, he is loyal, responsible and Always struggling for their best. Ashley was always involved in her mother’s crazy and stupid relationships and her lack of control and that puts Ashley in a bad position when one of her ex-stepfather wants to control her and her life. That is when she decides to look for Alex asking for help. And that was trigger to bring back all those feelings from the past! They bond and match even more everyday and when things start to get more dangerous, they realize their feelings are stronger than ever! It was sweet, beautiful and so involving! Not to mention hot!
We have Ashley who needs to get rid of her lecherous step-father. Then we have Alex, her step-brother from many years ago. Will he remember her? Ashley shows up on Alex's door step in the middle of the night with a proposition for him. In order to get away from her recent step-father, she will need Alex's help. But her suggestion is totally out there, will he say yes. Both come from well off families. Alex's born into his wealth and Ashley's mother accumulated it like she accumulated husbands through the year. Nadia was not an easy mother to have at all. Ashley kept getting dragged where ever she went, whatever house hold she ended up in.
Now, Ashley is all grown up and her mother passed away leaving her with her lecherous step-father Geoff. His behaviour towards her has turned stalker-ish. He's acting like Ashley will be replacing her dead mother.
The chemistry is hot and these 2 have a history together since their parents were married many years ago.
I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I’m not going to rehash the story because other have reviewers have already done a great job of writing a comprehensive synopsis. I really liked Ashley and Alex. They were both dealt a crummy hand throughout their childhoods, but they made it through without falling into destructive habits. I felt sorrier for Ashley because she was just a young kid who grew up before her time and had less choices than Alex. The reason they met up again was an interesting one. I found most of this book to be more low key than other books in the series until the end, but that’s not a bad thing. I was a little disappointed in Nathan and Robert’s reaction to Ashley. As I said, she was just a kid when they met and she had zero control over anything her mother did or didn’t do. I found that the story flowed well. The sex was hot. There was suspense and there was a HEA. I loved the epilogue, too. Nathan started to become more human. Hopefully that will be continued in his story.
