Born between the early 1980s and 2000s, the millennials are the youngest (and on several occasions, the largest) generation at work today. In this first comprehensive book with discerning research, Subramanian Kalpathi turns the modern workplace on its head and asks pressing questions about what makes this raring-to-go generation tick. With case studies of millennial organizations and interviews with over 100 achievers, The Millennials will give you an informed view of how the future will look by explaining the goals, motivations and dreams of the people who will run it.
The book starts with an introduction to who millennials are and then goes on to explore how millennials make an essential part of today's workforce. Through engaging case-studies, the author presents simple, yet thought-provoking insights into how millennials are shaping today's workforce and what makes them tick. I absolutely loved the fact that every chapter ends with a summary along with key takeaways. This book is a must-read for leaders in any of today's organisations so that they can make the most of their millennial workforce
The book illustrates case studies of revolutionary companies and Subramanian Kalpathi has beautifully correlated digital transformation, innovation and motivation. This book is a must read for not only MBA grads but also the current engaging workforce. Well written book with chapters that flow with key takeaways at the chapter end is truly amazing and an informative lexicon by the author. I would recommend this book.
This book was suggested as part of our Design Thinking workshop to explore the world of largest living generation! The book has very interesting and useful insights about the Millennials, how they think, what they prefer, intrinsic vs extrinsic motivation, servant leadership, agile mentality, the importance of continuous learning, managing self vs leadership etc. Lots of real world examples and cases keep you engaged!
This will surely help both Millennials and non-Millennials in understanding the differences between different age groups and bridge gaps!
The Millennials is a well-researched work, weaving in stories of several organisations headed by or consisting of millennials in India. The chapters of the book are classified on the basis of seven different lenses, which include motivation, culture, innovation, digital technology, collaboration, learning and leadership. Through these lenses, the author has attempted to explore the "new world of work". At the end of each chapter, a set of insightful takeaways is listed. The highlight of the book is that every chapter is complete in itself. Through each story, the author skillfully communicates concrete and successful HR practices, in dealing with a heterogeneous demographic at the workplace. What I liked the most about this book is, it creates space for a substantial discourse on inter-generational interaction at the workplace today.
