Read the first edition as part of my degree studies. This book gives a concise and broad explanation of the various forensic science techniques, with respective case studies for a number of the techniques used. Great book as a beginners guide, giving the main necessary points to build on.

An extensive textbook for people studying forensic science or even those who are interested in finding out more. I like the layout of the book which was very concise and informative. The use of the bulletpoint format for key points deserved a praise. The appendix was useful too, overall an essential book for beginners in this field.

Overall this book gives a nice introduction into the field of forensic science, it might be a bit basic but especially if you never dealt with a topic this will help you a lot building up some basic knowledge. The only problem I had with this book was that sometimes I couldn't apply the knowledge due to the fact that it was written about how everything is dealt with in the UK and Wales...

This book is a required text for my Open University short course S187 Forensic Science. It covers far more than the course requirement and is straightforward to read.
