Where the Wind Blows Before the Larkspur Blooms West Winds of Wyoming Under a Falling Star Whispers on the Wind Where Wind Meets Wave (Novella)
USA Today Bestselling Author Caroline Fyffe was born in Waco, Texas, the first of many towns she would call home during her father's career with the US Air Force. A horse aficionado from an early age, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from California State University-Chico before launching what would become a twenty-year career as an equine photographer. She began writing fiction to pass the time during long days in the show arena, channeling her love of horses and the Old West into a series of Western historicals. Her debut novel, Where the Wind Blows, won the Romance Writers of America's prestigious Golden Heart Award as well as the Wisconsin RWA's Write Touch Readers' Award. She and her husband have two grown sons and live in the Pacific Northwest.
I have had a soft spot for Jake since he was introduced in Where the Wind Blows (Prairie Hearts #1). In spite of the abuse and hardships that Jake endured in his childhood, he did everything he could to better his life. I really admired his bravery when he decided to join Chase and Jessie when they relocated to Logan Meadows, Wyoming. It turned out to be the best decision he made because the move gave him a fresh start. He was able to find love, family and a sense of community in Logan Meadows.
I have to admit that I was fearful for Jake's well-being when he set out on the journey to meet the father who refused to acknowledge him until he was on his deathbed. There were certainly some shocking twists but Jake demonstrated his strength of character and Christian values while he was away from home.
Although this is a novella, it is just as action packed as the other books in the series. Be sure to set aside time to read this in one sitting because you will be unable to put it down once you start.
Jake has always had my heart from the beginning. A man who just wants to know who he is and where he came from with a mother who makes a living in a saloon pleasing men telling him she didn’t know who his father was comes clean with handing him a letter from his father. All Jake ever wanted was a last name so he could marry his true love. Jake really broke my heart in the last book thinking without a last name he wasn’t good enough for Daisy. Jake has always shinned but here he really comes to life as he travels to meet his father wanting answers. I really never cared too much for his mother but I have to say I came to understand her better in this book. Sometimes you have to do what you have to so you can get by making a living and trying to raise a son. Yes she will not get mother of the year but you find your heart soften just a little for her.
Here Ms. Fyffe brings excitement to the read as Jake finds answers not all are ones he likes. What he finds is a town that is corrupted along with a few other surprises it is left up in the area if he will even make it back to Logan Meadows. The author gives you a thrilling read of prison, prison escapes (you won’t believe who is here), some very lovely ladies one he will adore the other might drive him crazy with her wild ways (it isn’t what you thinking). If he returns to Logan Meadow he might not be by his self, leaving one to wonder just how Daisy will take the news. First he has to see his father through his death, deal with family business, help a friend and deal with a prison along with some very bad men who just might try to kill him.
My heart was with Jake through his journey, meeting his father, finding answers and maybe a few surprises along the way. I had to chuckle as he took his first bite of seafood, I have to say I agree with those oysters nasty stuff. I even had a few chuckles along with holding my breath as things unfolded. The author gives you some MAJOR twist that will throw Jake off keel a little but making him a much stronger character that only has you falling deeply in love with. There is a touch of mystery of who a man is and what is he doing here. It is filled with action that is packed so very nicely to give you a thrilling read. The author is holding a lot to her chest on this read, it isn’t a story you can tell much about without giving the whole book away. Let’s just say you will be deeply surprised at the twist, you will fall in love with the characters, meet a few from the past along with a few new ones, with a ending that will make you just about cry. It was such a pleasure watching Jake get his own story and find his place in the world. I think this might just be my favorite of the series.
This is one of my go to authors when I need a feel from the west with hot cowboys, delightful ladies and a town that helps it own. You will find just delight in each one of her read. It won’t be long before she becomes one of your favorite as well. ****************************
This book was amazing! There are more characters from previous stories that could be made into stories of their own, so I do hope there are more in this series eventually, but for now, I'm finished, and it was an excellent series overall. With every book I read, it was like a visit to a familiar place, reuniting with familiar friends. I love any author who can do that. This is Jake's story. He grew up never knowing who his father was, until one day, his mother shows up in Logan Meadows with a letter from his dying father. She'd always said she didn't even know who his father was, and now, not only did she know but didn't tell him, but the father he never knew had known about him and now wanted to see him. Jake has no idea what he'll find in Oregon, but what he does find is nothing like he expected. He had family he didn't know he had, takes on responsibilities he never thought he'd have and finds someone he never expected to find, who had no business being there. Through it all, he's wondering if he's ever going to make it home to Daisy, the love of his life. All of this comes together to create an amazing story that had me holding my breath more than once, unable to stop reading until I knew exactly what was happening. I hate when the last book of a series finally comes to an end, and I'd absolutely love to see more of these. For now though, this was an excellent book with the perfect amount of adventure and romance, with an unexpected possible romance near the end. It seems like this series could possibly go on forever, but I know all good things must come to an end. I do hope there are more eventually though. This is an excellent book and an excellent series for those who love good, clean western romances with some suspense thrown in for good measure.
From Wyoming to Oregon, Jake is on a trip to meet the father he never knew existed…til his father sent a letter to his mother…he is dying and wants to meet his son before he passes. Jake meets his father and finds he has two half-sisters. Heartwarming story by this wonderful author.
This was quite possibly a first for me. I could not connect with a single character. It’s possible it was because I've not read the previous five books in this series, so I don’t know the characters mentioned in the main character's home town of Logan Meadows. But I think it’s because many of them overplayed their emotions making them seem unrealistic. Either too unkind, or too sweet, or too manipulative, or too much of a bad guy. I don’t know. I just didn’t relate.
Where Wind Meets Wave, the 6th book in Caroline Fyffe's Prairie Wind Series was definitely saving the best for last. I have truly come to love this Wyoming town call Logan's Meadow. Jake has set off for Oregon to meet his dad he never knew existed. The man he meets is dying, finds a family he never knew he had, and a long lost friend who needs rescue. All of this brings closure he finally will allow himself to feel. The ending was wonderful, I was literally laughing with joy as to how the book ended. Perfect!!!
This story was a bit different from the rest of the series. It was set mainly in a different locale, and the focus was on a male, not female character. There was more action and danger than romance, but of course there was a romantic thread throughout. There were initially a couple of instances where I thought the characters were missing a point, but each time the storytelling author explained away the actions of our hero’s. Hopefully there will be more books in this series, as several beloved characters are still single!
Note -- we are not in Kans...I mean Wyoming any more
The sixth book in this series concerns Jake, the young man with no surname. His mother appears in town, which is not good news as she has been less than a mother. Mrs. Hollyhock raised him and loved him. But there is a reason THAT woman came to see him and the result has an enormous and lasting impact on Jake's life.
UPDATE: In reviewing the next book in the series, I had to look for a surname before reporting an error. And discovered that that error also happens in this one too. It's HEXUM not HEXIM. But I was so caught up in this book that I didn't even notice it.
I really enjoyed this one. We watched Jake grow throughout the books and now he’s a young man of 21 and more pain and questions have been dropped in his lap. He has to leave his love, Daisy; a young woman who has had ole ty of pain of her own, to find and meet his dying father. He encounters more than he bargained for once he gets there and the adventure begins. There’s danger and darkness surrounding that town and they’ll need all the help they can get to get out of there alive. It was a fantastic read!
Jake never had a last name and was raised by loving members of his community. Suddenly he finds himself with a father and two half sisters he did not know he had. He travels to meet them, and in that unfamiliar place, comes across an old friend who has found himself in dire circumstances. With the help of his sisters, he gets involved with trying to help his friend while trying to move his family back to his home and the love he left behind! Caroline Three has done it again...a great read!
I loved this book about Jake and Daisy. Jake grew up with a saloon woman as his mother who didn't take care of him. The local mercantile owner took care of him and raised him, Violet. Violet was always like a mother to him and he never knew his father.
His mother comes to Logan Meadows to tell him that his father is dying and wants to meet him. He had been going with an ex-saloon girl Daisy, and they want to marry but first he must travel to meet his father and Daisy is afraid he won't come back.
Growing up on their Oregon coast gave this book special meaning for me. As always, I love how her stories have a bit of everything in them drawing you on to the next chapter. Finding characters from the previous book in perilous situations added to the suspense. By far their most enticing of her books in this series. I feel like a kid being read a chapter from one of CS Lewis children's books and saying to mom, "No! You can't stop there!"
I loved this story of Jake finally meeting his father, but to find his friend Dalton in a prison drugged and shanghaied was a surprise. Will he forgive his father for abandoning him and how will he rescue Dalton? This story is intriguing and has an element of danger in it and the characters are well developed. I really enjoy reading this story and the series. I look forward to the next book and would recommend this book/series.
For a bit who's been raised in a brothel with no father, Jake had dreamed of one day meeting his dad. He's be strong and successful and every boy's dream of the perfect dad. Then, A a young adult, a letter comes asking Jake to come to his father's deathbed. Another amazing story by Caroline Fyffe, who's quickly becoming one of my very favorite author's. You'll her plots, characters, and situations are so relatable, they feel biographical.
This is the first book I've read in this series. I love it enough to buy the rest and start from the beginning and read where all these wonderful characters came from in this book. I loved the different storyline. It was filled with angst and a bit of suspense, along with a sweet romance which kept me quite entertained. Recommend. JudyE
I decided to read this book because it takes place in Newport, Oregon - that's where I live! It was nothing like the Newport of today! I had a hard time getting into it at first, but by the end found myself enjoying the outcome of the adventure of the guys and gals who have some harrowing adventures. This book is part of a series, and since I'm getting a little too old to enjoy most romances, I doubt that I will read any more of these.
I loved this series and especially liked that we "checked in" on people from the previous books. I'm glad Jake finally got to meet his dad, find his sisters and make up with his mom. We get to see Jake search for his past, help a friend, and marry Daisy. It was a excellent series and one I hope she adds more books to.
This book picks up where the semi cliffhanger of the previous book (#5) left off. There is enough danger to keep you turning page after page. Rooting for Jake and his newly found family and some old and new friends to make it to safety! You will not be disappointed with this story of love, danger and possibilities of the future!
Your propelled back in time with these special characters. Warms your heart, makes you cry but mostly makes you feel. As in all The Prairie Hearts a feeling of great love and happiness abound. Life was hard in those times but Caroline Fyffe makes you a part of it in her writings. Anyone who loves western type stories, this series is AWESOME!
Jake and Adeline were the kinds of individuals we all aspire to be. Unfortunately there are too many James’ and Courtney’s amongst us, as well as in us. Maybe we can learn from each group how to recognize our own weaknesses and improve our decisions, attitudes and ultimately our lives and the lives of those around us.
This story is a gripping story that draws the reader into the action and following the characters through all the trials placed before them. It also demonstrated how family and friendship ties form. Well worth reading.
Caroline Fyffe writes an amazing tale of love, forgiveness, honor, and family! Just extraordinary! I can't wait to listen to more! Cody Roberts does an impressive job with the variety of character voices! I highly recommend this team!! Enjoy! You won't regret it!
When I first started reading this book, I felt like I wouldn't like the story and almost didn't read it. I'm so glad I decided to go ahead and read it. It was different than her other books, but yet the same. Thank you for an enjoyable read.
Just loved reading Jake's story. So nice to see how far he had come and to finally have all his questions answered. Just love your work and especially all the characters. Thank you for these great stories
I love the character of Jake. The book gave us Jake's whole story. I did miss the Logan Meadows location. Introduced Jake's sisters and brought an old friend back into the story. I see the possibility for the next book.
I really enjoy this authors work! She has all the excitement and adventure you could ever want but leaves you with a warm feeling in you soul! A truly inspiring author with excellent books! Loved it!
I've loved this series of, Prairie Hearts Novels, the characters of the serifs lived in a different time, building the west. The romance and adventures in their lives is heart warming.
Where Wind Meets Wave is a wonderful story! I love seeing Jake's story. I felt his emotions when discovering his father and sisters. His sisters are very charming! I am also happy the Jake and Daisy get happiness and Jake's sisters gets the opportunity to get to know their brother.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is an excellent series with great characters. The people of Logan Meadows are wonderful neighbors. I have felt bad for Jake since he was a boy. He grew up to be an honorable man. He deserved a happy ending.
