Loved, loved, loved it. I literally think this may be one of my new favorite books.

RoloPoloBookBlog 5/5 stars
The plot is intricate and twisted, the characters - both good and bad - are easily believable, and the naughty bits are some kind of delicious.

Three estranged brothers.
One runaway girl.

Sweet and sexy Noah soars as Spartans’ basketball shooting star. Overly protective, bad boy Nathan has beaten the devil and believes he’s invincible. And angry and bitter Jake cannot move past losing his unit in Afghanistan. After suffering personal tragedies, the three brothers barely speak to one another.

Until River.
River is damaged.
River is dark.
River is sensual and sexy.

When she runs away from her abusive foster home and notorious past, she crash-lands into Noah’s arms. She should feel safe with him, but she is attracted to guys more broken than she. And his brooding brothers Nathan and Jake wait patiently to catch her when she falls. Her relationship with each jeopardizes the precarious balance of their troubled family, and she will either mend their wounds or break their hearts.

Kiss the Boys is psychological romantic suspense, containing explicit sex and covering dark subject matter. This is the second book in the Lost Girls Collection. The first book is Blackout (steamy psychological thriller) by Chris Myers. Each of these books is a standalone.

Kiss the Boys by Chris Myers as Diana Downey
Book #2: Lost Girls Series
Source: ARC from author
My Rating: 5/5 stars
My Review:

Jake, Noah, and Nate are about as different as three brothers can possibly be. Jake is angry and depressed over the loss of his entire unit and his survival in Afghanistan; Noah, is the happy-go-lucky basketball star who has never known any real tragedy or loss in his life; and Nate is the world-renowned artist who has an uncontrollable temper and a sexual appetite to match. The only thing the three brothers really have in common is their love for their family and their fascination with River.

River is damaged. River is dark. River is sensual and sexy. River is wise beyond her meager age thanks to her circumstances. River is drawn to three brothers who, along with their mother saved her life. Life with a real family is not something River ever thought she would have again following the brutal death of her parents, and life in the foster system made a Stephen King novel look like the Sunday comics. River desperately wants normal but knows that will be very hard to come by for a girl like her. But, River is willing to try even it means putting herself in the line of fire with the angry and often hateful Jake in order to get him moving and back out into the world; trying desperately to convince herself that the kind and gentle Noah is the brother she should be attracted to, and trying desperately to stay away from the one brother her body and mind yearn for, Nate.

Nate develops what can only be described as an obsession with River and she becomes his muse. His art flows in her presence and he makes it clear he is attracted to River but his art has to come before their shared pleasure. From what she’s able to discover, Nate’s art isn’t just fed by her but also by his incredibly dark past. His sculptures and paintings are dramatic and sensual, feature angels and demons, and command prices River can’t even wrap her mind around. The attraction to Nate and his darkness is a terrible kind of right that River simply can’t deny and as she travels with him to his show in New York, their relationship expands and becomes something neither can deny.

In the weeks that follow, Nate and River begin to open up to the other and feed off each other’s darkness. Nate is possessive of River but knows, to a certain extent, he has to share her with his brothers. Jake is beginning to come out of his self-imposed darkness with River’s help and Noah is flourishing under her attention. Though Jake likes to tease River about hooking up and loving her, Noah is serious in his attentions which opens up a whole new world of trouble for Nate and River. Neither wants to hurt Noah and their being together will most certainly hurt him. As if two seriously troubled pasts weren’t enough, fate has a few more kicks to the nuts in store . . . . .

The Bottom Line: Knowing Chris Myers’ work as I do, I expected some darkness in this read but what I got was almost pitch black laced with all kinds of awful. In. The. Best. Way. Possible. Nearly everything that happens in Kiss the Boys happens in a very short amount of time which makes the read feel so much more immediate. There isn’t really a break in the action but not all the action is over-the-top crazy. Oh, don’t get me wrong there is a ton of over-the-top crazy but there is some breathing room in between as well. Make no mistake, Kiss the Boys is NOT under any circumstances a light and easy read but a dark and twisted tale that plays out both publicly and privately. As with most of Chris Myers’s novels, I was taken in from the very beginning and just held on for the ride. The plot is intricate and twisted, the characters – both good and bad – are easily believable, and the naughty bits are some kind of delicious. As a final note, there is a truly excellent epilogue to this read which really made all the dark and dramatic totally worth it. If you’re into somewhat sick and twisted reads that are well-written and engaging, I highly recommend giving Kiss the Boys a go.

P.S. The funeral scene is effing hilarious. Now, if you haven’t read the book yet that’s going to sound crass and uncalled for. Read the book so you can laugh too :)

In the world of books often we go from the cover or blurb, we don't know what we are going to get. We don't know whether the book will be up to our alley if it will hold our attention, blow our socks off or whether it will be just ok. For me, I am often attracted by the covers - so I love the guy on the cover of Kiss the Boys. The other thing is I had previously read one of Chris Myers's books and enjoyed it. Kiss the Boys, however, was one of those books which I struggled with as the plot was too busy for me and I felt that it didn't have a strong plot and guidance system. At the beginning we meet brothers Noah and Nate - we learn a little about them that Noah is the responsible one, the nice brother and is a champion basketball player. Nate, on the other hand, is messed up, he is our SNAG guy, the misunderstood artist who likes to play with feelings and emotions, the guy whom girls will always fall for, but he just uses them till he is done and then chucks them back out into the world. One day, the guys meet River - who has run away from an abusive home and finds herself sitting outside their house. Both guys are attracted and find themselves wanting River in different ways and measures. River is introduced to the boy's mothers, and she gets a job working as a companion/nurse for Noah and Nate's other brother Jake. Jake was wounded in an accident during his time as a soldier in Afghanistan. Each boy has a troubled background, and it seems that River has wormed her way into all three of their lives but which one will River choose? Can she balance her personal life with her professional life as she holds the power in her hands to break or mend the boys family? Will she being there, push the boys apart further or have the opposite effect and bring them closer together?

As a reader drawn to romances that put us, and their characters, through the emotional wringer I was thrilled to get my hands on this release after being captivated by its premise. From its opening scene we're introduced to a cast of characters teeming with pain from heartbreaking pasts that have us hurting right alongside them. Though the narrative sometimes gets a bit choppy the author never holds back in vividly detailing what the characters have gone through in a tale that breaks them down and rises them back up in a triumphant conclusion that will have readers cheering.

River has been through a lot of heartbreak in her short life thus far. Born with a kind heart and a need to be loved she made one wrong choice that changed her life irrevocably and set her on a path full of guilt, a string of poor choices when it came to men, and highly sexualized thoughts that leave her questioning the normalcy of her desires. After escaping an abusive foster home, when all hope seems lost, she's rescued by twins Nate and Noah Hunt and is quickly made a part of their complicated family dynamic. She becomes a sister to one brother, a possible girlfriend to another, and an obsession for the most damaged of all the brothers in a role that pulls her in many different directions. Though she's been taken in by this caring group of people her past is never far behind as drug dealers and other dangerous men seek to break the fragile foundation for HEA she's slowly building. She connects with all the brothers but it's clear that only Nate can give her what she needs as their mutually painful pasts bind them together. Their first meeting crackled with sexual tension as he easily understood her pain and was happy to help her explore the dark desires that have always made her feel dirty. She feels unworthy of love, taking on the guilt of her parent's deaths, but she's still a hopeful person and it's that sense of hope that calls to Nate as he has his own demons to work through. For the most part River's a likable person with a kind heart. She's a bit too trusting though which leads her into trouble more than once which requires her being saved by Nate time and again. She's worldly when it comes to matters of sex but when it comes to love and relationships she's uncertain, timid, and a bit naive. This dichotomy was frustrating at times and had me wanting to shake some sense into her throughout the story.

Nate's a sexy beast who reeks of danger. He's in his early twenties but is wise beyond his years after a childhood abduction left its mark both inside and out. He's a master at art pouring out his pain for all the world to see. His art is intensely sexual as he uses a theme of demons and angels which has him attracting many lost souls. The women who've model for him indoctrinated him into the darker side of sex at an early age, fueled partly by the horrors of his abduction, and this is why he connects so quickly and easily with River. He's drawn to her hopefulness but understands and embraces her darkness as well. They're both damaged souls and he believes they'll be able to heal each other's wounds if they can both accept the truth of what they've done to survive. Readers will immediately be drawn to Nate as he exudes power and sensuality, with a lot of rage just bubbling beneath the surface. He loves his brothers, though they see him as the enemy, and would do anything to see them happy. When tragedy strikes it's Nate who picks up the pieces, keeping their family together despite his brother's childish behaviors. Despite his brokenness he's clearly capable of being the man of the family and is my latest addition to my list of book boyfriends.

Noah and Jake not only fight for page time but also for time with River. Noah may be Nate's twin but he couldn't be any more different. Noah's sweet and a bit timid and quiet. He has a romantic view of sex and has had only one partner in his past. He still lives at home, happy to be taken care of so he can devote himself to his future in the NBA. His girlfriend recently broke up with him which has him seeing River in a romantic light despite her seeing him as a friend. Noah's childhood was charmed but his future takes an unexpected turn that will finally force him to grow up in a way that brings a tear to your eye. He and Nate have a very antagonistic relationship, made worse by Nate's need to protect and by River's arrival, that left me frustrated by him at times but still charmed by his puppy dog nature. Jake went to war with his best friend but came home alone and missing a leg. It's left him bitter and wallowing in pity as the woman he loved is having trouble adjusting to the loss of her brother, his best friend. He's the oldest but happy to let others care for him until he's forced into getting up on his feet again. River's arrival changes all their lives, giving them the push they needed to accept their fates. Overall each of the brothers is a compelling character and deserved to have a story of their own. Jake and Noah had demons to battle and issues that were resolved way too quickly as their stories were condensed which diminished the overall emotional impact of the story. Another character left struggling is Conner, who was abducted along with Nate, and who's hiding away from the world with only his emotional pain to keep him company. He too is compelling and I long to see his story told as well as his journey's been a rough one. Many things happened throughout the story, some a bit melodramatic, involving River's past that were resolved far too easily and further took away from the realism of the story. On a whole though this is a memorable story about strength of spirit that nicely balanced emotional intensity with erotic encounters. It was a powerful story that I wish had been made into separate stories as a lot happened within the covers of this book that had me racing to finish. Those drawn to erotic storytelling and dark emotions will want to add this book to their bookshelf as it's a one-of-a-kind romance not easy to define.

This is the first book that I have read by this writing duo and believe me you need to get a copy of it. I now need to go back and read book one in the series. Kiss the Boys can be read as a standalone and wow, just wow! The premise of the story and blurb had me hooked, so I had to read it. I am one of few readers that you may know of that does not have issues with love triangles and such. This book delivers. This book contains very mature subject matter and triggers. So those who cannot handle abuse, you may want to tread lightly and be warned that it does contain dark matter.

What happens when three brother fall for the same girl? A girl so broken, that she has never told anyone all the heartache that she has endured. All three brothers have had their own struggles, one was abducted and refuses to speak much about what happened to him at such a young age, another was wounded while fighting for his country and now deals with PTSD and the loss of a limb, the other on the cusp of a NBA career, has just ended his relationship with his long-time, on and off again girlfriend.

River is no stranger to loss. As a child of the system since she was twelve, she has bounced from family to foster home to foster home. No one knows that the deepest darkest secret she hides is the reason for all her outbursts. When she can no longer take the abuse of her current foster dad, she runs. Struggling to cope with the death of her ex-boyfriend and the life he lead, River tries to make sense of it all. River is young, just barely eighteen and at times acts so much older and then there were times where she seemed so much younger and I wanted to slap her. I had to realize that this girl had to grow up way to fast and was battling demons that she had never told others about, so to an extent her childlike ways were understandable.

Nate, has endure more than most should. Abducted with his best friend Connor at the age of eight has left a lasting impression on his life. Never speaking much about the events surrounding his abduction and the abuse that he suffered he channels all his energy into his art. Now he is a world-renowned artist, made famous by his Angel series. Nate seems to be beacon to those who are just as battered and broken as him and chooses his next muse based on his ability to read others. All his Angels are just as broken as he is and he sees it as a way to heal them both as they work together. None seem to really understand him like River does.

Noah, Nate's twin and basketball great has just ended his relationship with girlfriend, when a late night walk has him offering to shelter a girl stranded out in the cold. Noah is the good, sensitive boy that his brothers aren't. He has walked the straight and narrow, rarely acting out and his his future mapped out for him. That is until River literally falls into his life. Can this young, impressionable girl be the one to save him from the games that his ex plays, can she be the support that he needs as he grabs onto his dreams of playing in the NBA or will he find himself fighting for her attention?

Jake, the oldest of the three, has returned home recently for serving his country. Now dealing with the aftermath of his service and PTSD, he struggles with daily life. Holed up in his room and angry, no one has been able to connect with him, until River enters his life. She is the first person other than his mother who won't put up with his shit and tells him like it is, She is also his biggest cheerleader and wants nothing more than to see him healed and happy. Jake feels a connection to River, but being much older he realizes that she is more like the sister he never had and she is the balm he needs to find his place in the world once again.

River comes into the lives of the Hunts like a tornado. Broken, cold, hungry and homeless, a child of the system. She finds solace, love and affection within the confines of their home. They offer her hope and the chance of a real future, something that she hasn't felt in years. Little do they know that she harbors a deep, dark secret that could undo her for good. When tragedy strikes once again, will River be strong enough to hold the Hunts together or will it be the final straw that breaks her for good?

I seriously loved this deep, dark, suspense filled read. Kiss the Boys is filled with plenty of angst, heartache and second chances. I found it to be well written and engaging. Those that struggle with books written about abuse, physical, emotional and verbal, may have a hard time with this read. This writing duo had me sucked in from the very beginning and I could not put this one down. I highly recommend you grab this book and get sucked in to the Hunt's world.

Kiss the Boys is the first book I've read by Chris Myers or Diana Downey. Although it's part of a series, it's a standalone and is not necessary to read the first in the series prior to reading this one.

It's a well written complex story with well developed characters. It's heartbreaking and intense but with an underlying hope and peace. The theme is dark and it's disturbing at times but the authors had me hooked and needing more, knowing I would be satisfied at its conclusion.

River is the angel that crosses the path of the Hunter family. She's troubled and broken, just like the Hunter brothers Nate, Jake and Noah. They each have their troubled pasts that consume their every action. It's an experience of their daily struggle, expecting they will never move past their brokenness, but how they've accepted it within their damaged souls.

Kiss the Boys is not a light hearted book and it's the perfect book for someone who can follow multiple points of views. There's a sense of mystery and intrigue as the storyline unfolds. It reads quickly not revealing too much, leaving more questions then answers as each chapter is progressing, but intriguing enough to keep going to see how everything plays out. By the middle of the book, it's easier to follow the different puzzle pieces that make one complete storyline. We're on the inside experiencing the journey for each character's separate healing.

In the end, I loved the story. And the authors provided a great epilogue bringing us full circle for hope, healing and happiness.

This book is so intricate in it plot I just couldn't put it down.
Jake, Noah and Nate are 3 brothers that are night and day in personality as they could possibly get. Jake is suffering PTSD and injuries from a tour in Afghanistan, Noah is the guy that every girl should want he's happy go lucky genuine guy, basketball star who seems to have the easy time in life. Nate is an artist who is filled with passion for his craft but has a temper, and a sexual appetite not all approve of. All 3 brothers seem to live on the outskirts of each other's lives. The only common thread is they all love there mother fiercely and they all develop a connection and a fascination with River. They each want her in there life.
River is broken and damaged. But she too has a connection with each brother in a different way, she holds the same sexual darkness that Nate does. She wants to feel worthy and to fit in so she is drawn to Noah, because he is the perfect guy that every girl should want. River takes Jake out of his own head doesn't take his feel sorry for me crap and pushes him to be the man before his injury.
This story twists and turns, it is deep and dark, at times I was crazy with the brothers pulling River this way and that and I couldn't make my mind up which brother I wanted her to end up with.
There is undeniable chemistry between Nate and connected on a level that Jake and Noah could never compete with.
I adore this authors work and this is a wonderful edition to the lost girls series.

Where do I begin? When I saw the blurb for this book it caught my attention and made me curious. The book is about three sons Jake, Noah and Nate. They are all dealing with their own separate issues. Then we have a runaway named River. She's in the system and leaves after suffering abuse of all kinds. When she enters the home she develops bonds and attractions with the brothers. I wasn't sure how this would work out and felt this was going to be a big mess. Noah and Nate are twins who are complete opposites and very competitive. They both have a thing for River. This book set the stage to be a love triangle but it didn't feel that way to me and to be honest I was expecting a little more angst, drama and passion. The scenes with her and Noah I just didn't feel the connection. Her and Nate just gelled and they are definitely made for each other. This book does touch on some heavy subject matter and my heart broke for River, Nate and Jake. They all needed each other so they could heal and have closure. This book had some tender moments, heart warming moments and sad moments as well. In the end this book was able to hold my attention and made me want to keep reading.

Three brothers, as different as night and day, Jake, injured in Afghanistan and suffering from PTSD, Noah, the basketball star, lovable and a little bit innocent and Nate, world renowned artist, takes what he wants and is unapologetic about it. The only thing they have in common is River, she has had a hard life and runs away days before her 18th birthday. Found by Noah and Nate, she is taken in by their family, which ultimately saves her life. Although she has feelings for all the brothers, there is only one who truly ones her heart.
I absolutely loved this book, I read it in one sitting, I was hooked from the first page and spat out at the end. This is a bit of a dark read, at times its a hard to read, what each boy and river go through pulls on your heart strings. The chemistry between River and Nate is off the charts and literally scorches the pages! This is the first book I've read by this author and it won't be the last, wish I could give this more than 5 *.

Short and Sweet Review:

The hero and heroine had an immediate attraction to one another came across as very carnal, and that set the stage for some serious intensity once headier emotions like love started getting involved. The sexytimes was a little much for my taste, but it seemed to fit their personalities well enough.

I was all in on this book up until the last 25% or so, where unnecessary things felt thrown in, and I definitely think they should have been left out altogether. With that said, I still found that I really enjoyed the ride that felt less like a thriller and more like two battered souls finding solace in one another. They did get their HEA which I always enjoy, so getting to have my heart all warm at the end was a nice way to close out the book.

Rec it? More than likely. Myers definitely has a way with words and creating a romance that feelings born of magic. If you enjoy books about the broken finding love and healing, this would be a great add to your book collection.

I do want to warn readers that basically every backstory in this book could come with a trigger warning of some sort, and the graphicness of it could be upsetting to some people.

‘Kiss The Boys’ is a well written and well thought out tale that made me unable to put it down. This book is the second in the Lost Girls series but having not read the first I can say that it can be read as a complete standalone.

River has had some seriously difficult times in her young life and running to save herself she is rescued by two brothers who bring her into their lives and that of their other brother. Nate, Noah and Jake are as different as they can be but one they all have in common is the fascination with River that they all fell. River struggles to feel worthy and loved and each brother offers that in their own way.

The three brothers all have their own issues and things that they are dealing with and they all connect with River in a different way. I wont say which one she finds herself with as I will leave you to discover that yourself but I will say I was a little conflicted as to who I wanted her to be with.

This book was unexpected and had plenty of twists and turns to keep you reading. It wasn't a sweet and innocent romance book by any measure instead it was thoughtful, dark, sexual and at times quite deep. This was the first time I had read anything by this author and I will definitely looking for more from them and going back to read the first in this serious.

3.5 -- Fallen Angel -- stars

River is on the run from her foster dad. It’s snowing, her car isn’t in the best condition and she doesn’t have the money to rent a room, so she has to park somewhere on the street. River doesn’t know what will happen next or if she even will survive the cold night. Then she meets Noah and he takes her to his home. River is welcome at his home.

Noah has two brothers. The brothers couldn’t be more different. They all have different talents and problems and dreams, but they all love River. Nate wants River the most and makes that clear from the start. He wants a relationship with her and that’s something he hasn’t wanted for a long time. River becomes his muse and he can’t imagine not having her with him. Nate is a little dark and his past still affects his life, but he’s also very mature, rich and caring. Everybody warns River to stay away from Nate, but River is attracted to Nate and she feels that only he understands her.

River is damaged, because her childhood has been horrible most of the time. She has experienced too many losses and feels guilty. She wants to feel loved and wanted, and she will find that with Nate’s family. She deserved that after everything she has been through. I did expect River to be a little more reserved at the beginning.

Kiss The Boys is a little dark. It deals with some heavy subjects and that didn’t make it easy to read sometimes. The book didn’t always have my attention, but I did wanted to know everything about their pasts and that kept me reading until the end. There also was a shocking twist near the end.

Title: Kiss the Boys
Series: Lost Girls #2
Author: Chris Myers
Cliffhanger:
HEA:
Rating: 4.5 Stars
“She's broken, but there's some inner strength I haven't seen in the previous angels.”

I haven't read the first book in the series (yet) but I definitely loved Kiss the Boys and can say that it's a standalone and can be read as one.

This was my first book of this author and I didn't know much before starting it but Chris Myers did a brilliant job. The book was unique and not your average light hearted romance but I couldn't put it down.
“You no longer have to hurt yourself,” I mouth into her neck.
“I will consume all your pain.”

The main heroine, River, was a strong character with a dark past that was always one step behind her. She was damaged and broken after what happened to her and it was taking everything for her to stay above the surface. I liked how, even after everything, she didn't give up. River had her ups and downs, not always choosing the right thing but in the end, I loved her character.

Eight words to describe River: broken, vulnerable, caring, meek, naïve, loyal, misguided and conflicted.

The guys were the hardest to figure out. Noah was the sweet and most innocent one out of the three brothers, and even though he really liked River, he couldn't say no to his ex and it was obvious he still loved her so I was never sure where his loyalties or true feelings lied. He was also so naïve and clueless at times that it was a bit annoying.
“I want to be held. I want to be loved.”

Jake was the only one who could see things the clearest and was able to give River advice or comfort her without confusing her furthermore. I did think that all three brothers were going to pursue River and fall for her, so Jake was a bit unexpected, but I really liked his character. He did love River though, just wasn't necessarily 'in love' with her.

As for Nate, he was the most difficult character to understand. At the beginning, I wasn't sure about his intentions and didn't really trust him. He intrigued me but that was it. I changed my mind a few times throughout the book, but eventually fell for him and wanted River to end up with him.
“I do love you, River.”
A couple tears escape her beautiful eyes. “I wish I understood why.”
She doesn't understand how worthy of love she is. I kiss her tears away. “You're easy to fall for.”

Overall, Kiss the Boys was an unforgettable read for which I am grateful to the author. It was well written and fast paced, I was never bored (and it's often an issues for me) and I'm glad I picked it up. I loved Myers' writing and can't wait to read the first book in the series, Blackout.

Kiss the Boys by Chris Myers - arc provided by author

This was the first book I have read from Chris Myers so I really didn’t know what to expect. Aside from reading the blurb that got my attention, I went in blind and trusted the author to take me along in this dark and twisted romance. The story revolves along one messed up teenage runaway and her instant connection with the family that saves her from the cold winter and her abusive destructive past. In turn, you meet three young men all dealing with their own issues, troubles, and afflictions. Immediately all three brothers are taken with her, but of course, there is only one that really stands out. Nate, the artist hat recognizes the tortured angel that River is and that only he can save. I have to say that I actually liked all three brothers, Noah and Jake to me had as much of an impact on this book as Nate, but it would be pointless in trying to deny the chemistry that Nate and River had.
Although this plot line was intriguing and at times, extremely gut wrenching, I wasn’t able to connect with Nate and River as much as I wanted to, and believe me I wanted to. I guess that instant attraction/connection right from the beginning put a damper on my own feelings for this couple. But again throughout the book, you feel that these feelings are in fact real, so this that insta love feeling can be overlooked.

This book has a lot of issues that may not be for the faint of heart, but if you like Dark and Twisty this is the book for you.

3*1/2 stars!!

This book started off rough for me. The entire Hunt family falls in love with River before I as a reader did so it felt untrue to me. But I'm never one to give up. I stuck it out and I'm glad I did, because River and the whole story totally won me over in the end.

There's some heavy themes in this book -- rape, drugs and the death of parents. As someone who recently lost a parent, the latter really moved me.

All in all, I found the book in enjoyable and I'm super glad I stuck around for the end!

I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When I first started reading this, I thought I am not sure I am going to like this - no reason why it just took me a couple of chapters to get immersed. But then I was fully immersed and couldn't put it down! The three brothers were so different but each had their own qualities which made the reader love them. Nate was my favourite though - he was dark and life hadn't played him a good hand and he did come across at times as a bit of an a**hole but you couldn't help routing for him. River was a great character - her inner turmoil justified after what she had been through and her synergy with Nate was easily understood. She was destined to be with him - she liked the idea of Noah - all round good, gentle guy - the guy you should choose but as we all know, everyone loves a tortured bad guy! The relationships in the book were intricate and believable. There were moments of elation, comedy and complete and utter sadness. I loved the epilogue but still wanted more - a sign of a good book in my opinion.

This book was hauntingly beautiful like I imagine Nate's angel's to be. It was tragic yet so much blossoms and grows from that tragedy and so many people learn to love and forgive and grow-up and become the people they are meant to be all because of one woman. I love the lesson that can be learned from this book about not giving up through any tragedy and to fight for your life, your dreams, love, your future, someone else's future, something, everything, just FIGHT! River absolves these boys of all their sins...it's the perfect name. She gives everyone absolution. Don't get me wrong, there are many triggers in this book so be forewarned. It deals with rape, drugs, PTSD, abuse, and lots of guilt and anger, but I love this book. Myers is a gifted writer who is able to tackle so many sensitive issues for both boys and girls who survive rape and abuse and the foster system. and feel shame and guilt but Myers does a beautiful job handling these tough topics. Everyone should read this book and realize what can happen and how just one person can make a difference.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Kiss the Boys by Chris Myers is the second stand alone novel in her Lost Girls series. Where the first book completely sucked me into the pages I felt a disconnect with this story. It was well-written and fairly well-paced, the story was gritty and tragic and ultimately redeeming, but I couldn't quite click with this one. It still has a four star rating based on the pacing, character development and accuracy with in the story (No sloppy timelines etc).

As the blurb states, one girl, tragically broken down and on the brink is rescued by one family, the brothers, and one true love. River is the damaged girl with a penchant for cutting. The men that have laid claim to her are Noah and Nate - twins. Noah is the basketball star - wholesome and pure. Nate is the bad boy - dark past, dark thoughts, and dark artistic talents. The third brother is older and River and Jake relate on a much more sibling like-level.

River is edgy and unsure when the family takes her in. She has never been treated well and isn't sure what to think but gradually learns to trust the boys and their mother as if they were her own family and loved ones. And then... tragedy strikes them all.

Enjoy!

4.5 Heartfelt Stars! Noah is a basketball player and is a happy, genuine man. Nate is an artist who has a bad temper and a uncontrollable sexual appetite. Jake just recently returned from Afghanistan. He is suffering from PTSD and he was wounded while there. The three brothers don't have much interactions with each other except they have a common love for their mother. River is a child of the system and was bounced from foster home to foster home. She runs from an abusive home and ends up with the brothers where is she is shown affection within their home. How can River eventually choose one brother when she cares for all three? The book is dark at times filled with twists and turns, suspense, heartache, and choices. I have to warn those with triggers may find this book difficult to read. The authors wrote an emotional, well written story that had me hooked from the very beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and now I must go back and read the first book! This is the second book in The Lost Girl Series and could definitely be read as a stand-alone. I highly recommend!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

This is my first book by Chris Myers and I loved it. The story is somewhat a little too busy and there is a lot going on at the same time, but eventually you get it. The story is sad at times, but upbeat at others. River is a ward of the state, who's being beaten up by her foster parent and she escapes with barely anything. She ends up in half frozen to death near Noah's and Nate's house. Both men want to save her, but her darkness is closer to what Nate feels all the time and he sense her distress and pain. This is story of pain, passion, painful past, love lost and finally redemption. Word of advise: keep the tissue box close to you.

I don't ever write reviews, but this book irked me so much. I almost quit halfway through, but I'm not a quitter. I am so surprised this book has such a high rating. The writing was awful! It didn't flow at all and felt very unnatural and unbelievable. Too much was going on in the plot, especially towards the end. And the characters--there was no connection between any of them. It all felt rushed and forced. Nate and Noah had barely known River for a day, she had barely said anything to them, and they were already in love with her and fighting over her. The only natural, easy relationship I felt developed throughout the story was River and Jake's relationship. There were too many contradictions in the thoughts of the characters. One sentence River would say she likes Noah, she should be with Noah, and then the next she would be saying she loves Nate, does Nate love her, I don't really like Noah. River was so naive too. Given everything she had been through you think she would have been a bit smarter and have more of a backbone. The storyline and plot could have been really good, but it wasn't executed effectively at all!

Kiss the boys is the first book I have read from this author.

It was a story of River, a teenager just shy of her 18th birthday when she took a stand for her life and the abuse she was receiving. Escaping she landed in the middle of a snow storm and the storm of a set of twins, 2 very different men both needing her attention.

Noah is the sweet, innocent and sport star of the twins, Nate is dark, with an artistic flare and a past that has haunted him. Good boy v bad boy both wanting her.

Nate and River were great together, loved the sexual tension and the relationship between them.

When tragedy srikes, truths get told and love is tested.

BEAUTIFUL, DARK, AND TWISTED

Three brothers and one runaway girl. River runs away from her abusive foster home and falls into the arms of twin brothers, Nathan and Noah. Each is as different as he can be. Noah is the sweet one and on the verge of playing for the NBA while Nathan is the tortured author who was abducted at the age of eight. Their mother takes River into their home to care for Jake, the third brother and a disabled veteran suffering from PTSD. Each of the brothers are protective of River, but the twins fight over her and though River adores Noah, she is attracted to the darkness in Nate.

Secrets and dark desires drive Nate and River closer together, but Noah doesn’t give up that easy. When tragedy strikes, River will either break or bring the three brothers together. The story does involve dark themes, covering abuse.

This Dark Contemporary Romance sucked me in from the beginning until the end and kept me up late at night—a fantastic read.

Wow! What a fantastic book!
This is the first book by this author that I have had the pleasure to read however won't be the last.
River is an emotional mess but then so is Nate! River and Nate share similarities and differences that make for one very intense relationship.
This book is about so much more though, the family dynamics, trauma, heartache, success and love all combine to make this five star book.
This is a fast paced book that is easy to read as the story flows so smoothly.
The emotions involved throughout though make you stop and really feel for each character. Terrific descriptions of both characters and settings combine to make it easy for the reader to visualise the story as it unfolds.
I totally recommend this book to everyone.

4* read.

This was a different and a unique romance read. The second book in the series but the first one I've read. It can be read as a standalone and I'm now looking forward to going back and reading the first book.

River and the three brothers all have their own different set of problems. All the brothers have a unique and different connection with River and she cares for them all in different ways but who will she chose? You'll have to read this book to find out.

A real dark deep read that kept me reading till the early hours of the morning.
