This is one of the most useful books I've read about teaching history. I have a notebook full of ideas I can't wait to try in the fall. I will recommend this to every history teacher I know.
Russel Tarr developed an extensive website to share with other teachers. He's been a generous, empathic supporter of teachers who want to improve student's learning.
Good array of options and techniques. There's a lot here where you can take elements or principles, then apply it to your specific situation. I am glad to have this as a resource for when I get stumped, at least as a way to get my thoughts moving in new directions and stay out of a rut as an educator.
I was looking for concept based strategies for teaching ... and there are probably three that stand out in the text... the other strategies are much more 'topic' or 'knowledge' strategies which is fine, but not so transferable or profound. Nonetheless a nice little book of strategies.
