Drake never wanted the life that William gave him. Being a vampire was not how Drake wanted to spend his life. He became even less happy when his brother died. He leaves home so that he can find his own way. Where he can escape the memories of the one person who made being a vampire worthwhile.

He is called home. It is a call he can’t resist, especially since it means he can finally return to the home he has missed. Too stubborn to return on his own.

Emily is content with her life. She is working as a journalist at a small newspaper in Western Colorado. She gets the good assignments because she is good at what she does. At least she thinks so, until her boss sends her on an assignment that is completely contemptible. I mean who believes in Vampires?

Emily gets sucked into a world she never knew existed. The only good thing about it is the hunk of a vampire, which seems to think she is his mate.

Not suitable for those under 18. Graphic sexual content and language.

Given the length of the book, I am a bit surprised by how much I enjoyed it and I really wished this has been longer and more fleshed out.

There really isn't much room to complain about a H that more or less just dedicated his all to be sure our h is happy and safe. OTT protective H with such a sweet deposition to give h space and time and even freedom to do as she pleases should definitely be adored.

Our lucky h also is quite lovable in that she is also reasonable and totally get what a sweetheart our H is, so isn't going to be contrary just for contrary's sake. That doesn't necessarily mean she is a total doormat as she does voice her preference quite well, yet she also says this with a valid explanation which makes a lot of sense to me. This makes her a pretty balance character, as she also works on accommodating our H while also staying true to what she wants by voicing it in a v articulate manner.

The plot itself is quite simple and straight forward. This is understandable given the length and while I would love it to be a bit more complex, with the crisis a bit more drawn out and a few things explained in more details, I still like this one a lot.

Cannot wait for Williams book for sure.

I am really enjoying this series! To be honest it wasn’t the most well written book, and there are quite a few typos, but I liked it better than a lot of other vampire romance books I’ve read. If typos ruin a book for you, you might not like this. They don’t really bother me. A quick read at 87 pages, it left me excited for the next book in the series. The insta love is really freaking instant, but I guess that’s how the whole finding one’s mate after a hundred years of being lonely and getting no nookie will go.

The relationship, like I said, gets very serious very fast, but it is still sweet and steamy. Drake is pretty over the top protective of his mate Emily, but it’s sweet instead of being annoying. Emily does not stand for being babied, so it makes for a fun back and forth when Drake tries to hide her away from danger. Emily was a fun and fierce heroine. This is another book where the human mate does not have to be turned in order to live as long as their gorgeous vampire. I love that the vampires only feel arousal for their mate, and can’t live without them once they have been found.

There are a lot of characters that I am excited to read their love stories in the future. Especially William. I can’t wait until his book is released! Gabriel’s book is next, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it as well.

I would definitely recommend this series!

HEA, duel POV, no cheating, no triggers.

Safe story, the vampire doesn't feel desire until he meets his mate. The h went with the fact that vampire were real way too easily, a lot happened in the short story but you know what, it was good and I'm looking forward to the next.

Enjoyed

First book I've read by this author & I enjoyed it. Not your average vampire tale. I loved the insta-love with drake & Emmy. Will be reading more books from this series.
