Released from prison after serving twenty years for murder, Lucas Walker returns to the streets and immediately begins lusting for blood. Society has changed since his incarceration, though, which causes him to seek a disciple. Upon spotting a lost soul in a dingy bar, the savage serial killer seizes the opportunity and takes a young man under his wing, setting off a violent rampage in an oblivious city... Jon Athan, the uncompromising author behind A Family of Violence and Mr. Snuff, brings you a new disturbing horror novel. Will you be a psycho's disciple? Or are you just another victim? This book contains scenes of graphic violence, disturbing themes, and some sexual references, including references to sexual abuse. This book is not intended for those easily offended or appalled. Please enjoy at your own discretion.
This started off strong but really lost me quickly after. I liked Lucas a lot. Strong character and I was pulled in by the concept of the teacher student gone awry. But then things just felt pushed from one situation to another, with no real organic flow, and even Lucas and Dean's dynamics felt flat. Yeah, it's Jon Athan so you got plenty of violence and raping dead bodies and all that, so I guess you'll find this at least ok, if you're really into all that. Otherwise, for anyone else, even fans of extreme horror like me, this was very forgettable. It really needed to focus on the better plot points, mostly around Lucas and Dean, rather than the overflow of gore, which ended up taking away from the experience.
One of the most disgusting, sick minded, filthy story I read by far of Jon Athan's work. Totally regretting the read of it, SICK! Completely wasted the valuable times of mine...
***⚠SPOILER ALERT⚠*** <[ABUSIVE WORDS INCLUDING]>
I do read Jon Athan and already read most of his work but this deep-shit...
Lucas a sociopath, serial killer get released from jails after serving his prison term. He became begins his killing by making a partner named Dean. Dean a low minded bastard like Lucas who got no personality of himself. Jon Athan with his sick mind perfectly creates this two motherfucker. Lucas is a necrophilia, loves to fuck corpse and while killing that women named Samantha he forced Dean too to fuck her. After thst Dean regret that and couldn't believe himself he did it. Seriously? Dean loves her girlfriend Lori. While keeping the dead body of that raped women in that apartment Dean bring her girlfriend and wants to spend some time. Somehow it angered Lucas and he make promise Dean to help him mugged a little kid. That backfired too. In a confrontation Lucas ordered Dean to suck his cock but Dean kicked him in the crotch and fled. Later Lucas finds him in Lori's house where in a room they were having some romantic moments to themselves. Seizing the moment Lucas enters in the house killed Lori's dad. As the collusion escalated Lori's mom and brother Ricky came out and dumbfounded by the scenes. Lucas shot both of them with the gun but not killed them yet. Then Dean and Lori appeared, somehow Lucas took control of Lori and made Dean to kill her mom. Next while he made him again to kill Rickey in a process Dean got the gun to himself and shot Lucas but not dead. At the same time when he was trying to help Lori, Dean didn't see behind his back as suddenly Lucas attacked his girlfriend and killed her. Dean then stabbed in the stomach of that sociopath using knige, police came in the scene arrested them. The end was thst Lucas lived happily ever after in the jail again...
This total story just wrong, people who loved this story got a load of shit sense in their brain...
The characters and the plot, the way Dean's character created + his mothersucker mind and fucking a corpse - TOTAL DEEPSHIT...
I DON'T CARE WHILE READING THIS REVIEW WHO THE HELL GONNA THINK ANYTHING ABOUT ME - I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!!!
This story a piece of Shit, nothing else. If there's any way to rate a book less than 1 I would have give it with a dick to it's charm...
“Killing is good when we kill the right people. Killing is the ultimate stress reliever.”
A psychopathic serial killer getting out of prison after 20 years and immediately begin lusting for blood. Wow Jon Athan’s endings are the best, so many of his endings are potential for a sequel just like this! I enjoyed this book, the story was interesting, dark and adventurous! Like I said before I really love his writing style I can always feel myself in the story while I’m reading it, it’s really powerful and magical. I recommend this book if you want to read a short and dark horror story.
“All of you are part of the problem! You hear me? All of you will pay! You won't be punished by a god, you won't be tortured by a devil. No, fuck that! I'm your punisher! I'm your worst nightmare!”
After serving twenty years behind bars for a double murder, Lucas Walker is a ticking time bomb from the moment he was released. Sent off with a meager box of belongings and a bus ticket, he quickly dislocated everything and found himself taking up residence at the local bar. An outsider still trapped in a lifetime over two decades ago, he quickly latches onto Dean Crow and determines he'll become the son he never had. Seeing a troubled glint in the younger man's eyes, he pushed for a bar fight between Dean and Otis that left one man dead and the other horribly traumatized. Pushed to the erh edge, Dean would kill Otis and together they would move and hide his body into an abandoned apartment complex. Stashed behind a commercial sized dryer, the two are trapped in a bizarre relationship as Lucas continues losing his grips on reality.
“Wha– What am I going to do? What... What the hell am I going to do?”
With endless options at their fingertips, Lucas continues drawing Dean deeper into the dark side. Convincing him of his dark and lustful urges, Dean is powerless to the stalking, rape and murder of Samantha Steele. Walking home alone after her shift, she never anticipated the monster to be lurking on the other side of her apartment door. Convincing her he's doing routine inspections and needs to use her restroom, she's terrified when he walks back to the living room, naked from the waist down. Hearing the screams, Dean gets inside and sees the sexual assault already in progress. With threats to his life at stake, he does nothing as Lucas finishes and slits her throat. Dragging her body and laying it beside Otis, a new and darker plan is already on the horizon. On a chance encounter, Dean sees Lori Moore again after so many years, and the sparks between them are immediate. Homeless herself as she fled behind an abusive and neglected family, they are drawn together immediately and for Lucas this is unacceptable. Clinging together with jealously, be appeared at her house and shot her father before forcing Dean to slit her mother's throat. Tied and huddled in the corner, Lucas then demanded Dean to rape Lori's brother Ricky before helping to murder him. Refusing to, he waited for a moment of distraction before shooting at him. Somehow still alive, he would stab her fatally in the neck before police could arrive. Now, with news Lucas survived and placing all the blame on Dean, he's lost any chance of walking away from this carnage scotch free. Prepared to slander Dean in exchange of some luxuries behind bars, he feels a deep seated hatred for the man be called his son.
Deviants spawned other deviants – it wasn't absolute, but it was likely.
This one was actually funny to me. The concept of a serial killer getting out of prison and finding himself completely inept because of the increase in security and public knowledge of crime was hilarious. The ending was typically brutal and memorable as well.
I really enjoyed this offering from Jon. Lucas is a very disturbed, psychopathic , serial killer . Dean becomes embroiled with Lucas' devious horrific crimes. Highly recommend this
