Historical Scottish Medical not really a Genre I enjoy but this one was good Hero is Colin . Heroine is Beatrice .
Colin gets a note that he has to go and see the dreaded Sinclair. Colin knows why he is summoned to Laird Sinclair home . Only to marry Sinclair's daughter . Colin knows he can't back out .
Beatrice was left to Sinclair by her guardian . Sinclair has his eyes on Beatrice. Laird Sinclair orders Beatrice to look after Colin once Colin is beaten for disobedience to Sinclair wishes . Beatrice disobeys Sinclair and she pays for it

Laird Colin McIntyre is 'requested' to visit Laird Sinclair. Sinclair is evasive in the missive as to why he wants Colin to visit, but Colin know that he wants him to marry one of his daughter's because he wants Colin's lands.
When Colin refuses, he is whipped and thrown in the dungeon to see the error of his ways.
Beatrice is an orphan brought to Sinclair land when she was a bairn, she has no idea of her family, but something is not right, there are secrets.
Beatrice is tasked to look after Colin, all the while trying to think of a way to help him and herself escape the tyranny of Sinclair.
I thought the ending could've had a bit more but other than that I enjoyed the story.

Prepare to be swept back to Scotland if the 1300s in this tale of Colin and Beatrice. These two fight against a despotic Laird in order to survive and find their future. Definitely a book to curl up with to while away an evening.
