In a past life, Jackson Sweeney, child star and former member of award winning male vocal group 'Boy Wonder', was more rich and famous than he'd ever imagined he could be. But that was then. Now he's returning home to Orlando to take on a new job-- Music Director to rock's reigning Prince, Rod Phillips. On an early morning shopping trip, he meets a disheveled insomniac named Shelby.
Shelby Morris is a troubled young woman in hiding and on the run. Her past involves a fiery accident, a murder accusation and an escape from Miami in the dead of night. She doesn't sleep, so she wanders until dawn. On a warm twilight morning, she happens upon music's most eligible bachelor at the grocery store.
Sparks fly, especially the next morning when they accidentally-on-purpose meet up again. After a flirty first date, they meet again the next week. And the next. And the next. Soon, Thursdays come to mean decadent chocolate cake, sweet red wine and two bodies intertwined.
Every attempt to get to know this beautiful, mysterious woman is rebuffed; Shelby is cagey, full of secrets that can't be pried from her. Jackson can't risk another relationship where he gives more than he gets... but Thursdays have become a habit that his body can't do without.
Eight seconds turns Shelby's life on end, luring an old enemy from the shadows. Jackson is poised to learn more than she ever wanted him to know about the woman she used to be.
And this time, her mistakes could hurt someone she's come to love.

I read quite a bit of erotica (shame face) and its hit or miss if I like it...but this one is done right! It's cute, sexy and most importantly realistic.

This is another great read from this author.

An enjoyable and sexy erotic romance. My first DL White read but definitely not my last. I really enjoyed Jackson. Such an incredibly personable hero! This book also brought out a serious lusting for chocolate cake. Good grief...

Hmmm

There's a lot of sex but no chemistry , I really don't understand how they fell in love. Needed more.

I read an advanced copy. This is a fun, sexy, light-hearted novel perfect for summer reading. Ordinary girl meets global pop star, which feeds to the belief that we are all princesses at heart.

Boring

I liked other books by this author but this book dragged. I felt like the characters had no depth. They just didn’t draw me in.

This was my first time reading Ms. White’s work, but it certainly won’t be my last.

The setup for our story: Jackson Sweeney is a music producer. He was part of a boy band in his youth; he was recently dumped by his girlfriend and moves to Florida to get away from the Los Angeles spotlight and to work on new music with an old friend and his new band. The old friend is a hot mess. He’s very much about being in the spotlight and having as much attention as possible, and Jackson is trying hard to remove himself from that lifestyle. He’s opted to be more low key at this stage in his life.

Shelby Morris has recently moved to Orlando to start anew. Something in her past sent her running, and she wants to leave it all behind and start from scratch with a new identity. She has anxiety and experiences nightmares that often keep her up. With insomnia and not much to do in the wee hours of the morning, she decides to go to the supermarket since it’s one of the only places open and runs into Jackson. Our romance begins.

First, let me say the meet-cute was adorable! I get all googly eyed when the heroine and hero meet in practical situations. I loved it, and I really enjoyed this story but more so for Jackson. I thought he was the stronger character of the two. Not quite brooding but not very secure in himself. Appealing characteristics in a male that made him more authentic. Also, he wasn’t overly macho.

The writing in this story was tight, but I felt that the editing was a wee bit lacking. This book is 331 pages. In my opinion, at least 100 pages could have been cut from this tale. Now, don’t get me wrong, I liked that Ms. White drew out the dialogue between Jackson and Shelby which makes them more relatable, but a lot of the storytelling could have been more condensed. Because of this, at some points, I found myself skimming pages. Overall, this was a lovely little read with minimal conflict, but the conflict was definitely believable. It was refreshing to read considering a lot of stories have excessive drama. I give Same Time Next Week 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. If you’re looking for an enjoyable interracial romance, you should definitely give this a try.

Same Time Next Week is my first book by DL White. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a nice refreshing read and a cute love story even though both authors had some issues that they needed to work out personally. Shelby is getting over the death of her fiance and Jackson is getting over a break up. A late night chance encounter in the grocery store leaves them both plotting and scheming on how to meet up with each other again. They start a friendship that quickly turns into more than like. The characters are lovable and even though it's boy meets girl, the plot isn't the usual boy meets girl and falls madly in love, which makes this a refreshing read. Can't wait to read more by this author.

Good story that kept my interest

This was my first time reading one of DL's novels, and it won't be my last. I really liked the meet-cute and the way the relationship developed.
