Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be someone else? Sonya Elise Jamison-Thompson knows exactly how that feels. She’s known her entire life that something was wrong with her. As early as the age of 4 years old, Sonya has had an explosive temperament that had gone undiagnosed for over 20 years. Her amazing good looks helps her get away with a lot and causes men in particular to dismiss her questionable behaviors. When she meets her family and learns about her biological mother’s irrational decisions, she eventually seeks medical attention, but not before wreaking havoc in the lives of everyone she knows. Sonya gets stability through medication and family support. However, when she meets Kai, who’s ten years her junior, she decides to keep her explosive past and current diagnosis under wraps. Can Sonya keep the façade going to keep Kai around?
Kai
Kai Nathaniel Booker has had to be a man almost his entire life. Growing up with a mentally ill single mother, made him grow up extremely fast. He’s seen and been through a lot for his 24 years. His life changed forever when his mom died, the one woman he loved with all of his being. After being taken in by his half-sister at the age of 15, Kai had to survive the best way he knew how. His sister’s live-in boyfriend Trey, turned him on to the drug scene, and he’s been hooked to the thug life ever since. Kai’s thuggish personality and demeanor, not to mention his intimidating stature, helps him avoid a lot of drama; that is until he meets Sonya. Her luring personality, and gorgeous looks pull him in. Will he allow Sonya to penetrate his rough exterior and invade his heart?
Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.
This series just keeps the drama going. Mental Illness gets real in this book and Sonya is suffering badly. I just wish the family stepped up sooner for Sonya when they noticed her spiraling out of control. Sean was wrong for his role in sneaking around on Serita. I was happy for Devin and Sidney. They are actually my favorite couple in this series. Can't wait to read what's to come in book 6.
Well 🤬‼️Really, Shawn (the ink ain’t dry on your divorce papers🥴) & William (the steam is raising from your cancer treatments) 🙄⁉️How trifling‼️‼️‼️Can anyone define and spell the phrases 🤬 “self control” “self respect” “common decency” … “sister in law”…”daughter in law” 😬🥴🤬🤦🏾♀️‼️Nasty 😡🤬🤬‼️Honestly, I’m freaking livid, speechless, discussed & disappointed at all of the men that exploited Sonya and capitalized on opportunities to have their sexual needs fulfilled by Sonya rather than see the humanity of her condition in crisis and mental instability! …the Jameson-Taylor’s endless drama🥴🤔🤦🏾♀️‼️Does anyone intend to learn from their previous experiences/mistakes! Apparently, heck NO! It’s the same BS just a different book🤦🏾♀️😮💨😮🤯‼️”Sweet Surrender (The Sweet Series - Book 5 of 8) was also difficult to read 😢 (even with the Author’s trigger warnings). Unfortunately, I reiterate, no thanks to Sarah, all of her “female” offspring are emotionally, physically, mentally and hyper sexual women who have/are suffered/ing the residual affects of Sarah’s parental negligence and or are still victimized/traumatized for life 🥴🤦🏾♀️😡‼️ …Storm ⛈️ clouds are always hovered over Beaumont, TX 🫣…certified crazy town & drama central USA‼️
I don’t know how I feel about Sonya and Shawn falling back into a relationship!!!…I was truly hoping that Kai and Sonya worked out because Sonya and Shawn seem to love each other, but it seems based on their past teen age relationship, not an adult relationship, and the fact that he was married to her sister and father children with her is a no line crossing reason!!!… Although Sonya was struggling with a mental disorder, to sleep with you sister’s ex husband and that ex husband’s father is too much!!!… She needed a fresh start just like Kai!!!…I’m still hoping that Kai and Sonya find their way back to each other because for sure, her and Shawn are comfortable, but there will be a few disturbing moments because they have not dealt with each other as adults outside of sexual interactions!!!… I’m glad that Sidney and Devin found their way back together!!!… I can’t wait to see what is next!!!!
Sonya Jamison-Thompson is the oldest sister of the Jamison girls, who was given up for adoption. Sonya knew at an early age that she had issues but was not sure what the issue was. Sonya had a very bad temper. Sonya and Shawn dated during their high school years, until Sonya moved from the area. Sonya tries to wreak havoc in the lives of everyone she knows. Sonya decides to seek medical help and was diagnosed as being bi-polar. Sonya meets Kai, who is 10 years younger than she is. Kai had a rough upbringing and had to take care of his mother, who was bi-polar. Kai’s life changed after his mom killed herself. Kai was into the drug scene working for his sister’s boyfriend, Trey. Kai wanted to be around to support Sonya due to her illness and he truly loved her.
Sonya has truly gone through a lot. Mental illnesses is serious and most people don't realize just how bad. She and Kai went through some things in their relationship due to her illness, but her loved her so much. You could also tell just how much Shawn still loved her from the way he handled her. It's crazy how things are happening, but I know severe drama will come when this comes out. I couldn't believe she slept with the dad! Can't to see what happens next!
Sarah really destroyed her daughters. DNA is real and mental health is serious. I feel so bad for Sonya. She was never taught how to love and is probably incapable of being in a rational relationship. Her mind is not healthy and she see's sex as therapy. Poor Kai, I'm glad he chose himself. Shawn is a glutton for misery...periodt!
I couldn’t even foresee this books twist and turns if you paid me. These Jameson sisters and Taylor brothers are all broken and as a reader you feel like you are spying on a ticking bomb and I’m here for every minute. Damn these characters all need to be committed!
These misfits are interfering with my sleep! Having read some other books with these characters without the background is making it hard to get to where I know it’s going. Still it’s so intriguing! On to the next book! The author is right these books need to be read in order.
Yow! This series is just too juicy!!! Sonya ah pass round donkey!!!! No sah! Shannon is a silent river!!!! Monicaaaaa , you just playing with my Shawn!!!!!! You really want Sonya and Shawn to hook up again! Serita, a wha really a gwaan with she!!!! Kai need not look back.. ...run Kai! William Snr ....smh! I am bingeing on this series.....part 6, mi a forward!!!!
This is a story of families some blood related some not. Story of mental illness and the men who prey on these women who have it. You come to find out that nobody really loves no one. I keep reading and hoping that someone would actually care for someone else enough to have some self-control 🙏🏾. The story is intense and very well written.
This family has so much going on you it makes you feel so many different emotions. I'm hoping to see the light at the end of this series but something tells me there is more drama to come. I love that the author shed light on mental health and therapy and how helpful it is. This book was really good and interesting I'm eager to see how things turn out for Sonya.
Sonya, serita, and Shannon are living seperare lives from their spouses. The men want their families back except for WJ who is still unsure. Sonya and Kia relationship has developed more and living together and admit love for each other but when Sonya stop taking her med not just Kia is affected by the situation
Sonya’s mental health was so loud in this story and her actions swallowed up any logic. Kai loved Sonya but her inability to control her mental health stopped their relationship from succeeding. William took advantage of Sonya and that was wrong of him. Hope Sandra leave him! Happy for Sidney and Devin’s rekindling of their relationship.
Soooo why is Sonya screwing the damn family? Even in her mania, she could’ve chosen better. I didn’t like this. It was hard for me to read. Shawn is wrong. Two vulnerable people make bad decisions..smh
Sonya is something else!!! I wish this wasn’t the end for her and Kai! I love them together but I understand. That’s a good thing he left. But damn Sonya is crazy as hell! I’m so tired of Shawn it makes no sense, him and Dramarita (Serita).
I certainly enjoy the creativity of this author. She combines real life with her writing. I have not had a bipolar illness but I do know people that are mentally unstable. Two more books to go in this series and I am excited and sad.
Sonya with mental disorders and all there is no excuse for all she did. However everyone else was sane so the part they played in her deception is ridiculous. I’m disappointed but great book
Sonya Sonya Sonya 😳😳She needs to definitely get the help she needs..Kai I feel so bad for him..Whoa I don't like this Sonya and Shawn mess its gonna get messy 😬😬..Whoa I'm afraid to read the next part cause 😬😬..Amazing job!!
This was not what I expected but man did I enjoy it….. I am still hoping Shawn and Serita get back together but maybe they won’t. Either way o know the story will be a rollercoaster ride!!!
This was indeed a wild ride. Mental illness is soo serious, and sadly it's not talked about enough. Sonya has quickly become a favorite character of mine now too. I hope she wins!!!
This series is getting worse and better all at once. The story is full of details with lots and lots of drama. All this hurt, and depression.. yet love too
