A futuristic, post nuclear world filled with shape shifters, mutants and magic. Set in the 24th century it centers around the Stone sisters and their struggle to save a new world born from the ashes of the old.
Aimee Hunter was raised in a small town in Kansas, on her grandparents farm. Where her grandfather, who was the Superintendent of the local school district, and grandmother fostered her love of reading. Later, when she and her family ventured out into the big city, Aimee turned to writing as an outlet for her imagination. She developed a deep passion for scifi/fantasy but was disheartened by the lack of LGBTQ representation in the genre. She set out to write her first book, Stone Heir (now available), which has turned into the Kahlian Series. She writes from her home in Kansas, which she shares with her wife of thirteen years, a teenage daughter and three fur children.
I took a chance on this book even with the not too descriptive blurb and boring cover - hey, it was on Kindle Unlimited when I grabbed it.
I am happy I did.
Its an odd mashup of fantasy and sci-fi. The world is set on Earth three centuries after total nuclear war but humans have reverted back to kings and queens with royal privilege. They don't have internal combustion anymore, but guns are still around.
Add in werewolves, nuclear blast created mutations and old world magic and it makes for an interesting place.
It's an adventure story with a light romance portion but I thought it worked. (But then, I am a guy and what do we know?)
The only other thing I want to mention is the cliffhanger. Right in the middle of tense action bit, turn the page, book over.
This is definitely a new series I can really enjoy. Action, Shape shifters, Mutants, Humans and Dark Magic make for a fantastic story. Mason is a strong leader oh the Kahlian race with many talents, her sisters Diana and Lana also have their own strengths that make the trio a formidable opponent. Rena seems to be coming into her own powers and may be just up there with Mason if not more. The villains possess their own strengths and greed makes them dangerous. I liked the storyline and the look back into the history of the Kahlian race, can't wait to read more about them and these group of women.
I was not expecting a lot from this book because of it being an unknown author to me. I was pleasantly surprised though. It drew you in and made you want to know more about the characters and the world they lived in. Hatred the cliffhanger butt can't wait to read the sequel.
Very fun read. Excitement at every turn of the page. Hope to See the next chapter soon . This author has a real flair for story telling.. If you want a synopsis of the book read the publishers blurb.
Forgot it was a series and thought something was wrong with my kindle. Got very upset because I wanted to keep reading. I need, need, need the next book.
I liked this paranormal novel very much. It ends, however, with a giant cliffhanger which makes my blood boil. If or hopefully when the sequel comes along, I will grab a copy.
Another war has broken out among the four races left on Earth after WWIII. Yes, we nuked Mother Earth in this futuristic novel. The various survivors can't learn to live in peace. Some super bad GUYS battle it out with the heroes of this story.
I'd love to see how things turn out. The Stone sisters of Stone Heir must make a comeback. Their story isn't over.
